Funny how such a niche video tutorial from years ago will keep getting traffic (ha) for years to come. This little tutorial was so clear, concise, and useful! It helped me replace the antenna on my '94 Chrysler Concorde with one that looked better, and works so much better than the one I destroyed in a car wash. Thank you!
You saved my ass i got a 1999 Infiniti g20 and i just snapped my antenna in the car wash very simple i thought it would be more difficult thanks alot 👌👍🙂
Thank you for the video. I broke my antenna in a car wash and I'm the least mechanical savvy. The video gave me the courage to fix the antenna on my own. It took me less than 10 minutes to swap out the antenna. Weirdly the grooves on 2001 4runner were facing the other direction. Thanks again.
Great video, on my 1997 4Runner the grooves were facing forward and it was able to catch and go all the way in after the radio was shut off. Thank you for posting.
i put mine on my 1993 honda accord and mine doesn’t close all the way but i don’t mind that. the thing that does bother me is it makes a noise when it goes down and up almost like a farting noise as if the cable is scratching. i put grease on the cable as well and still makes the noise
VIEWERS - READ THIS FIRST: Unfortunately this is only half a job. The presenter just feeds a new antenna and its attached flexible slotted cable into and existing motor-body and its feed-in pipe. There's no mention of getting the old broken stuff out - it's like ramming a musket-ball on top of an existing musket-ball, a cannonball into a loaded barrel - choose your own metaphor. Incomplete. MOVE ON.
...and when the motor senses resistance - the mast is fully drawn in - it stops. Similarly it knows how long it should run to be fully extended. Good logic.
I have the same problem with my vehicle it is a 1993 grand Marquis. He said something about taking the wheel and wheel cover off. What was ur vehicle and we're u able to fix it?
I have the same problem with my nissan pathfinder, there's a little price of the antenna Corroded stuck inside the frame of it. I'm about to take it to a mechanic if I can't get it to come loose
@@djdjsggg2924 It's not a "wheel cover" per se on the Toyota 3rd generation 4Runner. More aptly called "wheel well liner or flap". Other videos show the connectors just get pried out and snap back on when reattaching. Not sure what your Marquis has in there. Maybe just turn the steering wheel to the right or remove the wheel to get better access. Good luck!

Omg I broke mine in a car wash aswell 😂😂I'm right there with ya buddy
Legend. Replaced the 100 series aerial in under 15 mins, no wheel off, no hassles. Many thanks

Thanks for posting this. Every other video I saw told you to remove the front wheel and all of the wheel well shrouds. Saved me hours!
thank you!! the antenna on my 02 4runner snapped at the car wash and i had no clue how to take it off lol

I thank you immensely for the upload, made the procedure clear cut and easy to follow!!! I am ecstatic to have finally replaced this part!
but how do you remove the old white toothed cable/strip????????????????????????? do you just pull it out while turning on the radio?
Yep, it's pointless. Video needs to be removed, Autodometer.
Worked great for an 03 Toyota Sequoia. Teeth forward
So helpful! Thank you for posting this video. Worked perfect for a day. Now it needs an assist to go up. Can someone explain why this is happening?

Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you I hope it helps me with my 92 Chevy van
Damn man. How did you manage to get your hands that dirty just replacing an antenna. 😂
Thank you!!
the most important part you left out was removing the wheel and plastic cover to see what you need to do under there
Yep, it's pointless. Video needs to be removed, Autodometer.
How did you get the old cable out? I don’t see that in the video.
Eric Bray yea missed that part lol
Yeah he just skipped that part. The most important part.
He just replaced the mast. The cable is attached to the base/motor and of course to the back of the stereo.

@@JohnnyTrulove - not the electrical cable - the centre feed plastic cable inside the mast. He omits that entirely.
So my problem is that the old antenna is completely seized in the housing, does anyone have any advice on getting it out??? 🙏🏻
EXCELENTE! MUCHAS GRACIAS
Hello my 4runner antenna broke a while ago. The antenna motor has stop working since too. What my problem do you know

Incomplete. MOVE ON.
Would this work on a 2004 Toyota Sequoia?
Thanks!
Is there a stock number for the replacement antenna?
for isuzu trooper. even if the main switch is off there is still sound in the foot part if the antena. how could i cure it? any idez please
Could you link the website you purchased the antenna mast from? Would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work on your videos!
www.rockauto.com/
I think I got it from here or either EBay. Not sure what vehicle you have but Rock Auto should be pretty easy to follow.
Hi, I got mine from Amazon from site, Masts R Us part #A049. My antenna mast nylon grooves were facing forward on my 1997 4Runner.
Clearly stated in the video at the beginning. rockauto.com
I put mine in backwards then turned it around it work great. Thanks for video bro
How did that white cable hook up? I don’t get it lol
the grooves in the mast's cable are grabbed by the gear in the motor and pulled in. once in, it just is gripped by the gears.
...and when the motor senses resistance - the mast is fully drawn in - it stops. Similarly it knows how long it should run to be fully extended. Good logic.
how to condemn antena power supply?
Is it the same for a Honda Accord 1992?
I would assume so. I’m about to replace one on my 98 4Runner, but my 92 Accord has bad antenna too lol
You should have worn some vinyl gloves bro...
Where’s the whined up
to btx - it's automatic. The system knows how long to run the motor to fully extend the mast, or similar logic.
My old antenna was snapped off. There is still a piece of metal stuck in the assembly that i cant seem to get out. Any idea on how to do it?
I have the same problem with my vehicle it is a 1993 grand Marquis. He said something about taking the wheel and wheel cover off. What was ur vehicle and we're u able to fix it?
Same thing with my 03 tundra how did u get piece of metal out

Yeah this is the same for all models... dmb fk!
I don't see this video very helpful you never show how to take out the old cable out? 10minutes my ass lol

A good video author would respond to people's comments unless they copied this video.
This video is 3mins not 10mins…so no 😌
