I had one of these given to me by my brothers first serious gf and I was a little kid in the late 80s early 90s someone stole it out of the yard… Forgo how totally rad it was until I by chance watched this video.
My folks bought me a Huffy bmx style bike when I was 11 (1981). I soon realized how out of style I was when others were riding Red Line / GT etc. It was not long after I had my folks by me a DB Silverstreak. They must have spent $175 on the bike compared to the $70 at JC Penney for the Huffy. I was definiteley in the in crowd.
How did you get everything original? Have you owned it since it was made? This is so awesome to see.... It's been a long time and I still love riding BMX. Cheers!!
The 84 I bought as an all original bike, the 83 is restored, I had a perfect frame set, I bought a damaged garage find that had all the original parts on it, then restored them and fitted on to the new frame set.
Thanks! The 83 is a restoration based on a beautiful frame set that I picked up. The 84 is 100% original survivor. Both are factory correct, Neither is for sale.
I was going to edit mine from 0 seconds ago, but yes those are the groups that came on when I saw him on the viper can you paint over to the formula 1 and there they were again. Man I ripped them sorry hard-ass mofos off-and-on went some bright orange A'mes.
nice rides. those reflectors and chain guards were the first things to go on our bikes back in the day
Very Cool! That was my bike as a kid. Got rid of the cushions, chain cover, reflectors and added black mag wheels. It’s great to see it again!

Beautiful! Im rebuilding a Silver Streak and Viper right now. Where did you find the pad sets?
Pads on the 84 are original to that bike, on the 83 are reproductions from Esem design in the U.K., by far the best repop pads available for Viper/SS
@@thameddler Thank you. I’ll check them out.
Very nice bikes but why would a bmx need off road tyres
Standard tyres for racing bikes that raced on dirt
@@thameddler ok

Pretty common back in the day! They skinwall tires even! Era correct style!
1.5 Arayas Tioga tires, I think, a 1.50 on the back matching the rim and a 1.75 on the front.
@@jbknowles1812 1.75 rear, 2.25 front I think
