The RSS20 is well worth the price, the pickups are nice and hot into a valve amp. Neck finish 10/10, Fretwork 10/10, they're acoustically very resonant, super stable for tuning and better than any Gibson. Better than guitars I've paid more than 2x the money for.
From the Yamaha site on switching: Positions 2 and 4 slightly delay the opposite pickup for a subtle phase shift that offers a fresh take on classic “in-between” sounds. And for the push/pull: The push/pull Tone control activates a passive boost with an effect similar to overwound pickups-darker highs, increased mids and lows, and an aggressive character.
I've seen many professional reviews of this guitar, but I won't lie - this one is probably the best. You can just feel it sound like I'm sitting in this room. I bought the rss02t model and it's great, but maybe the humbucker version will also be useful :) you play amazingly...
Have the exact same guitar , just dropped some gotoh locking tuners on it and it has become my go to guitar and I have several high end guitars, PRS , Music Man, Eastman and Gibson. The build quality is flawless and the neck is to die for. Value for money, it can't be beaten
can you answer what model # on the locking tuners? Just bought this exact guitar a couple weeks ago, which i freaking love it but want to change the tuners out. Thanks
I personally put a set of hipshot locking tuners in mine and they work great! reverb.com/item/49861-hipshot-grip-lock-open-chrome-18-1-3x3-tuners-with-ump-6k2gl0c
Great Demo Chris, Yamaha knocked it out of the park with the relaunch and redesign of those RevStar's. RSS20 - MADE IN INDONESIA - RSP20 - MADE IN JAPAN.
SIck sounding guitar!!! I've been looking for a secondary guitar and this Yamaha is a very strong candidate for that. I think they really nailed it with this one.
Good review. And excellent playing. I've got the same model you're demonstrating and the P90 version. The versatility of the pickup tones and the playability of the neck make these outstanding instruments.
Love the way you play. You play the whole range of rock. Like me. A lot of reviews play in copy and paste way and do not dare to venture into heavy riffs. And that leaves me high and dry since I play from acoustic rock at one extreme and heavy metal at the other. I love it all. So I need a channel that has some balls to go heavy on the guitar I am researching. Thanks. I am getting that guitar for xmas. For me from me.
Great playing and a great review. It seems over the years our taste in guitars is identical. Every time I thought about buying a guitar I come on here and you have a review of it. I bought the Ibanez Six6FDM and the Revstar off of your reviews. The Revstar is built beautifully however mine doesnt seem to have much sparkle clean, almost like a slight blanket over my amp playing it. Hopefully it’s just the strings , haven’t changed them yet as wasn’t sure if I was going to return it.
IMO, this and a fender strat, are 2 totally different animals. The only way I'd recommend this over the player series, is if you were planning to go between standard and drop tunings and had no need for a tremolo.
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear thank you very much chris for replying i agree with you they are totally different i meant which has greater value for money and good out of the box setup. Im an intermediate guitar player trying to get my first electric
The Yamaha was setup better out of the box. But, the Fender is potentially the better value, due to it's versatility. The Fender would also hold it's value a bit better for resale.
It's the other way around. Torakusu Yamaha built his first harmonium in 1897. Pianos since 1900 and guitars since 1942. The first motorcycle was built in 1953. The three symbols in the circle are tuning forks. The motorcycles therefore bear the symbol of the musical instrument company.
@@gigaralle Already bought one! Yes it does everything from the The Blue Oyster Cult to Morbid Angel. With a good amp or guitar processor this guitar is the only one you need if you can get over the shape and finish , mine is in Flash Green. Stock tuners work just fine no need for locking. Good job @YamahaGuitarsOfficial , now make some new finishes the racing stripes aren't too classy.

I watched about a dozen videos on this guitar but this video is the one that sold me! Thanks! 🤘
Glad I could help!
I'm in love with this gorgeous great tone guitar, this one is going to be my first HH config guitar.
bought this exact guitar a couple weeks ago.I freakin love love and because it deserve one more, love it. Offers way more than the asking price

best introduction to this guitar I heard
Yamaha makes great stuff whether it be motocycles, stereo equipment, guitars, etc.

I call the focus switch the JAZZ switch.
Have you got an old peavy T10 series .. you'd seem to be one with one if anyone..this is a nice guitar , lotta good playing on this one
I do not.
I don’t like elixir strings either. Cant get on with them at all.
Can I buy this as my first electric guitar?
Absolutely! It would be a fantastic guitar to start on.
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear i bought it now, thank you 😊 Hopefully I can become a good player.
You can play
Have the Logo of a Motorbike brand on the Headstock :-) nice

But my question is this: can this guitar METALLICA?
