Thank you, I simply forgot what side was the hot wire. And you were clear and precise with the info, everyone else on RUclips and Reddit were just telling me colors when I had no colors just like your iron. Thank you!

This tutorial is excellent. I was able to follow your instructions and able to replace the plug. Your diagram Hot and Neutral did help. Thank you from Arizona.

You just saved me from throwing out a perfectly good iron. I went to a home improvement warehouse, bought myself a $2.8 plug, got no help from an associate who had no idea where the ribbed wire went vs. the smooth wire, came home, watched your video and 10 minutes later, the iron was good as new. Many thanks. 🙂🙏

Excellent and well explained tutorial. Couldn't find any handyman to change the plug so my husband and I replaced the plug ourselves. Of course we had to replay your video many times each step of the way. We are very happy with the results. Thank you. Well I tried it out and my iron works better than ever.

Thank you, followed your excellent detailed instructions and got my iron working again. It was very easy and quick. I had bought two irons trying to find a replacement, but I was not liking any of them. I really like my old one, and now one less thing will not be going in the landfill because of you. If it had not been for your video I would still be looking for another iron! The replacement piece was really cheap by the way. It was less than 3 dollars at my local Home Depot. I Googled the exact part you kindly wrote on the screen and found it fairly quickly. Again a million thanks! ❤

Thank you so much ! My 10mth old labrador puppy drove me crazy when he chewed on the end of the cord for my clothes iron.
Just drove me nuts. Now I just need to replace the end. Again thank you so much. I needed that iron to staighten my work clothes tommorow.
Idk how this puppy found my iron. I normally keep plugs away ugh.

Nicely done, although the cord "testing" when you plugged it in at the very end did raise the hairs on the back of my neck. Grew up building and fixing, and knew this repair was an easy fix. Got this done with thanks your clear instructions--except that the run to the huge hardware store looking for such a basic part resulted in a staff member saying "a 2-prong plug? Do you mean an outlet, ma'am? Or a light switch. What do you mean, a 15 amp plug? Do you just want an extension cord? I can help you in about 15 minutes after I've finished helping this customer". I sped off to find the damn part myself, only to discover that this ~50,000 sq. foot store had exactly zero 2-prong plugs in stock. So all of your facial expressions at the very end of the reel when listening to the neighbor's electrical roar were felt and demonstrated by me too. Ha! Plug procured yesterday elsewhere, and iron back in service. You rock!

I have an old 1950s iron and the cord is wrapped. The plug doesn’t have one prong bigger than the other. I have a hard time plugging it in and I’m afraid it might cause a fire. Is it safe to continue to use it. The cord and the plug look new.

OMG!!! Thanks sooooo much!! I was scared of wires before I tried this! My smart iron that I love so much - the wire was short circuit and I didn’t want to spend another $200 for another one- I fixed my iron in about 15 minutes!!!!!!!
