That moment in which I first entered Mexico... That mysterious voice crept in, as that was the first non-instrumental song I was hearing in the game. The sun was going down, and I just felt myself completely immersed in that world. A groundbreaking moment for me and my ideas of the feelings that could ever be evoked by a game.
"We can't always fight nature, John. We can't fight change. We can't fight gravity. We CAN'T FIGHT NOTHING. My whole life...all I ever did was fight... But I can't give up neither. I can't fight my own nature. That's the paradox, John. You see?" - Dutch van der Linde.
This song gave off such a depressing atmosphere when I first heard it riding into Mexico, it was dark, raining and I found myself immersed in that game more than antithetical I've ever played and probably ever will play.
Same. It was before I had a hard-drive installed so I’d been playing for 12 hours straight to get where I was. As the thunder crashed and the rain soaked the sand, I was the storm. It felt beyond cinematic. I’ll never forget it
This is one of the reasons why this is my favorite game of all time and it will always have a special place in my heart. Man I need to play this game again. Well it looks like a week or two is about to flash by.
I hope they keep the small features in from RDR to RDR2 like buying newspapers, train rides, and damage to npc's depending where you shot them. I wish they kept that in GTA 5 and not their stupid one ragdoll fits all, damn when you shot both their kneecaps they just sat and still shot at you in desperation, they best make it as immersive as Red Dead Redemption.
Well son, it has all that and more. Try shooting an enemy in the gut, he knows he's dying, and he stands there behind cover with his guts spilling out, squirting blood everywhere, shooting at you in desperation until his clearly lethal centre mass shot, which is now profusely squirting arterial blood, causes him to collapse to the ground. rdr2 is more real than real life
A true artist amazing game, kudos to rockstar for creating one of my favorite moments in gaming history, ill never forget the first time I rode into mexico with this song playing and rain pouring down. Amazing that this generation gets to live vicariously through such great moments.
The perfect song for the perfect game!!! Best game ever I played and I played thousands of them. Since the days of Atari and Commodore until rdr. Never be so emotionally attached to a video game like this.
This popped up in my feed and oh my god talk about nostalgia. I remember watching this and I was jumping for joy that Red Dead won and Joses performance made me so happy. It was like reliving John journey again in a way. Hopin to see the same with Arthur and Unshaken ;)
One of the best and greatest moments in video game history! The song, the music, the scene, tired, covered in dust and mud, reflected in your actions and the moments that will come... Well done rockstar.. so proud to be Scottish
its been almost 11 years since this game came out, and It truly was art. A man tryna protect his family while living with the paradox we call reality. Truly revolutionary. Rockstar Games truly are amazing developers.
The real reason I replay rdr1 from time to time, is to hear this song in its purest form. It feels like all of John’s problems fade out for a few moments during that ride through Mexico. Gives me chills every time.
Why hello 2021. 11 years ago and I shall never forget that moment first riding into Mexico. That true immersion and wonder. Leaving a familiar land and entering a new one. I can't wait for the remaster I've beaten red dead 2 3 times now it's time to revisit the goat
I’m here after replaying RDR1 after playing RDR2 after playing RDR1 years ago. I love the sequel but the nostalgia of the story with John - he and his story meant so much to me. Like a generation after it did for fans with Arthur, John is one of my favorite protagonists in any medium. This was such a beautiful moment in a beautiful game that is a core memory for me. Undoubtedly one of the best games of all time.
I sure hope so as well. Ive been playing it since it came out and so far I havent heard any soundtracks or anything. I thought to myself Blues Saracano shoulda done some music for RDR2
Wow what a beautiful song man, this song hit so hard entering mexico not knowing when your gonna go back to america... 😢 RDR1 is the best game of all time! And john marston is the best character of all time, the first character we all connented with, got to know & love, thanks for everthing john marston ❤
Still the best game ever made. EVER!!! I really hope they do a sequel, but even if they do, it may look prettier, but other than that, u can't improve perfection!
@VONDER I knoooow 😢. The soundtrack this year exceeded my expectations. Unshaken, The Way It Is, and Cruel Cruel World with Willie Nelson himself. Absolutely beautiful.
RDR was one of the greatest games I've ever played. When this song came on... riding into mexico as the sun was setting... pure ecstasy. Probably one of the greatest moments in VG history, the best use of a soundtrack I've ever heard.
I can play this game over and over, the music, scenery and characters are the best I've ever encountered in a game. Calling it a game doesn't do it justice...it's an incredibly artfully done story that you get to participate in.
best game ever. Im still playing and I just got at Mexico and hear that sound. I know its just a game but its really good slow down your trot at that point to hear the sound and look around the river, sun, mountains, etc. They should make a movie about this game. SERIOUS!
I bought this game on my Birthday 6 days before the VGAS and 6 days b4 Red Dead Redemption won all the wards it deserved and when I made it to Mexico the day before the VGA's I heard this song and then i hear it again and I just started crying because its soo beautiful.
Best video game ever man! Rockstar rules the gaming industry! every game they made always made a huge impression on me that I still look back upon today, no other game could ever do that for me.
My favorite game OF ALL TIME!!! That means a whole damn lot! I looked up this song right after I heard it while riding into Mexico at night. I took my time goin up a hill and cresting on a Mexican plain just to enjoy the song. btw...the songs been in my favs for about a year and a half.
I have to say, I am now able to play this game on a xbox 360 emulator called Xena Canary and it runs amazingly well! When I first got into mexico and heard this song playing...I just had to look it up! Amazing ....makes you think you are in a movie! I half expected my name to come up in the credits as John Marston! LOL!
We all tought RDR was a masterpiece, with such great songs, the o Rockstar surprised us all once again with RDR 2! Damn, I have no words to describe how beautiful those games are, I finished Arthur's story 3 times already, and I always gets surprised, I'm always admiring that game and every detail It has
At 2:30 it’s Dutch, Javier, John, and maybe Bill stalking the train like they’re gonna rob it. Nice edit, although we now know there are some other gang members missing ;)
This is one of the most beautiful video games ever. It's my only fav game of all time. Don't even get me started on how godly this masterpiece was, I'll go on for hours and hours. John lives on through all players of this great game. A beautiful song. Game of the Freakin Year baby!!!! =)
My PS3 got a YLOD just before this game came out. This christmas my kid brother, who lives abroad, send me a new one! This is the first game I started playing.....damn this game is so good! 3 years old and is still kicks AC3's ass on all aspects....exept graphics i guess.
I finished this game with my brother a few days ago, and the end, it really hits i don't know why, never a game hits like this, myabe the character was so realistic, like,"family first" so you really believe why john marston did he did to get his family beck, such and awesome game, story, end soundtrack world, ando most of all character,, very long time since any game, make a character even close to what this guy is.
Jose Gonzalez is such a brilliant artist, if you wanna hear more of him i highly recommend listening to his album Veneer, it's a masterpiece. a lot of his stuff has this same kinda vibe.
"Some trees florish, others die. Some cattles are alive, others are eaten by wolves. Some people are rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair." John Marston, 1911
That moment in which I first entered Mexico... That mysterious voice crept in, as that was the first non-instrumental song I was hearing in the game. Couldn't agree more! Such an incredible moment.

Negative98hollow I actually cried when I completed this game.
"Our time has passed John"
Nacho Rizzo Soon we're gonna see that '' time "

It’s feels like this way of life is dying the age of gunslingers and outlaws.
"I ain't going nowhere!"
"Whatever you say, Pa."
Is it wrong that I tear up whenever I hear that line?
Still an amazing line
No, blessed are the peacemakers
This is one of the reasons why this is my favorite game of all time and it will always have a special place in my heart. Man I need to play this game again. Well it looks like a week or two is about to flash by.

This one should ve been remastered instead of GTA V
CHAKRIT PRAKTHONG both should have.
No Red Dead Redemption is superior
I hope they keep the small features in from RDR to RDR2 like buying newspapers, train rides, and damage to npc's depending where you shot them. An amazing song by Jose Gonzalez for an amazing game like Red Dead Redemption.
This popped up in my feed and oh my god talk about nostalgia. I remember watching this and I was jumping for joy that Red Dead won and Joses performance made me so happy. It was like reliving John journey again in a way. Hopin to see the same with Arthur and Unshaken ;)

Difícil descrever a experiência que essa saga passa, é algo mágico mesmo.
I can't tell what I like more, this or Unshaken.
Unshaken was a strong follow up, but this one edges it out in my opinion.
"Some trees florish, others die. Some cattles are alive, others are eaten by wolves. Some people are rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair."
John Marston, 1911
I think its the best song Ive ever heard in a video game in one of the best games ever made.
