How cool would it be to have a Home full of Jamie's metal work... stairs , rails , floating shelves , coat racks , porch railings , bed frames... Amazing Skill !!
Hahaha! You were walking in the yard, away from the house, checking behind you the whole way, saying "I do put my foot down and tell my wife no"! 😄 🤣 I hear ya!
Hey Jamie, look into some Fireball welding squares. They save time fitting up and have lots of places to clamp. I use my little minion squares all the time. Real time savers.
Got a new sub here man, you guys all have a flow, just easy to sit back and enjoy. No BS fillers and the work is top notch. The metal railing turned out amazing. When you first described it I thought it was going to look a little too outdoorsy, but it ended up really clean, and probably 10 times sturdier lol
I have two shows I really enjoy watching, this and an Australian metal fabrication one called cutting edge engineering... (sorry if it's bad form to put another channel in this) it's just that this kinda combined both channels. Loved it.
Hello hello from Brunei Darussalam 🇧🇳, Borneo Island of South East Asia. Been following you guys for awhile and love the content. Keep it up and God bless 🙏
Firstly, love what you've done 👌🏾 and secondly! The music was just absolutely amazing. You know when a song makes you do the stank face...yh?...well that was me haha Was groovin hard. Keep up the good work guys, can't wait to see the rest of it 😁💪🏾
Rather than having to do that double cut on the hand rails, you can just swap the end pieces from one side to the other. It saves a bit on both material and time.
Hi Eric and Jamie, greetings from here in the UK , a couple of suggestions from a fabricator regarding your Mig setup, Jamie have you tried “tip dip” ? Yes it’s a real thing no BS . Basically it’s a wax type anti spatter that comes in a 500ml tin, when you get a new welding tip and shield on your torch you’re meant to dip the tip of the torch inside, i instead have a 10mm glue brush that I painted the mig tip outside and the inside of the shielding gas nozzle and the end of the outside end part. After you have done that before you use it on your workpiece, just try it out on some scrap metal to heat up the torch tip and it takes the excess away. It’s an great tip as it saves your welding tips and shields from collecting the spatter inside and building up then dumping it in the weld of your workpiece! You can also use it like anti spatter spray too, gives you more control over where ares you want to protect. Try it out as most of the big welding suppliers supply it. Eric with your coat hooks 🪝 have you tried making your own hooks out of steel so you can can hang or move them around to the different slats.. we’ve done similar ones with horse shoes as a feature for you can move to different heights and widths to suit your needs. Anyway love the show and keep going as it’s a great show by far! Warmest regards. Phil
Absolutely beautiful railings. You guys can work with so many mediums. Fantastic The funniest thig was Telling us how you do put your foot down to your wife as your walking away and looking over your shoulder. 🤣🤣
I love the look right after a demo after you’ve cleaned everything and you are ready to start building. There is something relaxing about it. How do you guys like doing Reno vs building new. I’ve always said doing renovations is like building a house except you have a house in your way.
Dude! I gotta say, i Really enjoy your videos. So much so, that i share them with my co-workers (specific ones) semi regularly, due to your sharing of knowledge and systems. All that being said, this one is one of my total faves!! And i gotta admit, I'm a little jelly of Jamie's metal shop stuff😅
Loving that coat rack, and the half-walls. Being a mechanical engineer the old half-walls would have screwed with my brain too much being that far out of square. My 8 dogs would oversee any work being done in the house, my Pyrenean Mountain dog also head butts people in the groin.
God bless you Erik, put that foot down brother, and trust me when I say there is probably a few of us in here that don't talk about when we put the foot down as well. Updated* The new additions look outstanding.
Hey Erik. I make coatracks similair to that myself. But I use flat bar I bend in a S form to fit around the wood strips.. I let them hang there loosely, letting people rearrange them as they want.. Especially great for families with kids, they can have low hanging ones for them :) Maybe an idea for yours too.. Looks great, love the railings!
I also take the nozzle off of my wood glue and apply it by finger. It's quicker, especially when it's cold. Plus I'm not gonna' lie.... I love peeling dried wood glue off of my fingers on the way home. So deeply satisfying.
MAJOR improvement on those "half walls." Ugg, they were awful. Now the area looks crisp, clean and so much more open and spacious. Really nice to have a team to work with that's such a well oiled machine. Great group of guys. Ray, sorry about you getting head butted in the sweets! Wish I coulda seen it though. 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry, I know that's mean but...🤣
Like the steel additions to the stair well. One answer to the hand rail would be to make the mid bracing at the same angle as the hand rail. Then design it as an extension of that diagonal brace. A thought.
Love it. I just picked up mig welding too along with a plasma cutter. I'm in the process of doing my own spiral staircase from my deck to my lower basement patio.
I've found with flimsy half-walls that if you thoroughly glue and screw a sheet of 1/4" ply to both sides it stiffens them up tremendously, essentially making it a torsion box. Make sure the plate is really attached to the floor well. Then sheet over the plywood with 1/4" rock, and you're good to go.
That's the way to do it... No handrail.. I agree lol... It's a totally different ballgame when you're spending your own money 🤑💰... That's why the mechanics car never runs, the roofers roof leaks, and Eric Perkins house is missing half a handrail. But hey, I'd do the same thing. Great video
I liked how Erik said he does put his foot down with his wife as he looked as if he was walking fast to get away from his wife after putting said foot down hahaha 🤣 p.s. the railings turned out nice!
I like how you were outside and out of earshot before telling that lie that you put your foot down.....lol
I know right hahah
I’m sure she will find out what I said eventually anyways :-)
And casually checks over his shoulder lol
Love their content!
We man know how too scream silently.
Lol
How cool would it be to have a Home full of Jamie's metal work... stairs , rails , floating shelves , coat racks , porch railings , bed frames... Amazing Skill !!
Thanks Susan!
oh no, you had to give him ideas didn't you
Wonderful Husband , Wonderful Brother, Wonderful Dad . Ect
Oh it’s just The Perkins brothers! They Rock!
Hahaha! You were walking in the yard, away from the house, checking behind you the whole way, saying "I do put my foot down and tell my wife no"! 😄 🤣 I hear ya!
That’s in case she was standing outside and can hear me :-)
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers Oh I know! Believe me... hahaha I do the same thing! Lol
JUST WOW, That railing opened up so much of the space in the house. GOOD CHOICE, and GOOD JOB!
Looks Awesome! And painting the wood railing Satin black looks a lot better!
20:27. What a lucky man you are. Last time I did put a feet down on something, I was allowed to because the floor hadn’t been wiped yet
Such a cool lane outside of the regular videos. Please keep them coming!!!
Thanks Mike! Appreciate the feedback
Great job on the railings. Looks great in the black along with the handrail.
Can’t beat a Bridgeport Mill, all around versatile machine tool.
Great improvement! That said - I liked the coat rack better with the first color ;)
The new railings look a lot better good job guys
I continue to be amazed by the talent of Jamie! He is a certified genius!!!
Hey Jamie, look into some Fireball welding squares. They save time fitting up and have lots of places to clamp. I use my little minion squares all the time. Real time savers.
Cool you guys are putting energy into your own homes too! Those walls look great down even tho I love putting waterfall edges over them
Sometimes wish I was there to help on these projects! Great move guys and LOVE that you guys keep improving your own spaces too.

The metal railes you and Jaime do are great... you should start a custom fab shop for builders
"It's the best toilet I've ever seen" was the absolute correct response to that question. haha!
I have two shows I really enjoy watching, this and an Australian metal fabrication one called cutting edge engineering... (sorry if it's bad form to put another channel in this) it's just that this kinda combined both channels. Loved it.

Love the idea of you doing remodels on your own house and applying all the knowledge you have to remodeling. Look forward to more content.
So, a cool little trick for your railing returns....get some CA glue. It works amazing. Appreciate your talents and projects. Thanks for sharing.

That’s how I would do my hand rail. Great job and awesome team work!!!
Looks Fantastic, thanks for the video !!
Looks great! But my fave part was your golden walking around proudly with the hammer in its mouth at the beginning. :) Dogs are amazing.
The new look is SWEET!! I said the same thing about the oscillating tool when I remodeled my bathroom last year!! Use it all the time.

Hey thanks! Appreciate you watching and plugging our channel 🤜🤛
Nice work on that BridgePort!!! That thing is beautiful!!!
The Bridgeport was a labor of love for Jaime… Took him several months of all of his spare time to get it working again
Great job guys! That metal work is impressive.
Turned out great 👍

Jaimie just has all around game 😎
Very nice rails. Good job. Forney, TX
Very well done!
Looks good! Been watching your videos for over a year- your videos always are fun and positive to watch!
Beautiful job boys.
Sweet! Looks great!
Need to start using ram board on finished floors and plastic sheeting envelopes around work areas to keep down dust
God bless you Erik, put that foot down brother, and trust me when I say there is probably a few of us in here that don't talk about when we put the foot down as well. Updated* The new additions look outstanding.
Nothing beats a nice old Bridgeport.
Came out great!
Great job enjoyed the upgrade UK

your personal home series is as good as the new build stuff; inspires me to get stuff done around my home.
What an improvement.!!.looks great
Thanks Conor!
Thanks Conor!

That is such an improvement! I agree with you, I prefer the clean lines without the stair rail being to code.
Another quality job!👌🏻
Love the shop👍
Great job, the railings look great
yeah another cool video🤟....5:21am Philippines ❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭
Great job on the metal railing I built some for my house and they are a lot of work to get right
Pretty nice clean look on those railings bub!!
Thanks Armando!
Big improvement . Happy wife , happy life
good video y'all looks really nice
It's nice and it lets the light through.
Love the new half walls that you made out of steel
Thanks Fiona
Love you some Lexel 😆
Is there a video of the lighting install in the shop? Looks great!
Great job. Much improved over the half wall.

Go to the Ray Jay Buikder Buddies video on this. They have it on video of Ray getting a good one by Eric's dog. Its hilarious
That looks 10x better than the stupid half walls. I like the coat rack, too. Nice work, everyone.
I’m surprised you guys didn’t put down any plastic to protect from dust

Awesome job guys !!!!👏👏👍💪💪
Interesting design. I didnt notice you testing the new wall. That metal wall has to be more top heavy than the previous.
GREAT episode.
they look wicked

I need to make and put up a coat-hook thing in our new house...thanks for some ideas!
Looking good🏴👍
Looks great!!!
