Perfect contractor statement , it's my house it doesn't need to be perfect. I can't tell you how many times I've said and heard that statement. Love it. Another great video, keep em coming.
P.S. I am with Jay when it comes to painting. I HATE IT! I also have many rooms in my house that need this and if my wife ever sees this video I will have to unsubscribe and hit the "Dislike" button on every new video!!! LOL, just kidding but I really do hope she doesn't watch this.
all the guys must owe Erik a ton of money to work that hard for him like a client …. OR they all love what they do and it’s amazing they all get together and make these vids
Here’s a painters pro tip! When painting a large flat area like doors or the top of fireplace mantels use a small diameter weenie roller with a thin knap then use a brush afterwards to smooth it out! If you’re using vinyl paint you can buy a extender to extend the drying time for vinyl paint.
since you are putting on two coats use the wall color for the first coat, cover the caulking and the semi gloss for the second. I also use a 3 or 4" roller to intially put the paint on the larger flat areas and then lay it off with the brusk. Floetrol in your paint also helps
Looks great! The painting did the trick! It would have been great to watch this episode a couple of weeks ago *before* I ripped out all the trim in the whole house - window casings, baseboard, door trim and all. 🤣😆🤣 And I saw the same deal with a lot of the trim barely nailed in.
The benefit of a good brush is clear in the close ups. Buy a good brush and clean it well. A pro will wear out a brush. Average homeowner will not paint frequently enough to wear it out. And keep enough paint on it as you paint. Dry brushing will wear it out.
A little hint from an old residential window washer. Lowes sales a Werner adjustable Stabilizer bars item #762729 Model #97P that will wrap around the triangle upper windows and you won't compromise the window seals on the thermoglass that should start fogging in in next couple of months after you put the ladder on the glass. A no no in my world. $76.00 versus $1200 for a new window plus redoing all the trim around it again. But maybe it didn't do any damage this time! If a customer saw it on their house and the windows became fogged in the the next few years we would be hearing from them or we lost a customer and their referrals.
We have a saying in my country and it goes something like this: "There are no proper chairs in the carpenter's house". Amusing to see half painted walls and half attached window trims in a contractor's house and I was reminded of it. LOL.
I've been a lil busy with school recently, but now that I'm in the second year construction class & a civil eng./archt. class, its super cool seeing someone physically do what you're learning about. would you guys be accepting "interns" in a couple of years?
I don't know how old the younger son was but he answered the questions EXACTLY the way my 8 year old daughter does. Lol. Kids these days. Looking good guys.
Great video, I’m not a painter so I have a question. When painting the fireplace, did you have to prime it first? I need to paint my bathroom vanity so I was just wondering, thanks
Please, clean and prime the vanity first, preferably with an oil primer. Eric went this way because it’s mostly trim and it’s his own house. And they really scuffed up the surfaces before painting. At his jobs he does better lol.
@Perkins Builder Brothers I don't know if that's intentional, but at one point you can see a frame with coordinates of your home. You might want to blur that out.
I like it how it is. Kitchen cabs are same color. But it ain't orange, that's for sure. Hate to hear what you think of natural Redwood, or clear Fir. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
A big light/white stone fireplace that goes up to the ceiling would look awesome. Along with refinishing or white washing the floors and ceiling beams.
I’m surprise you didn’t use a primer over top of that stain wood.? That would definitely give the paint a better bonding surface rather than just two coats of paint.
You didn't have to add that 'flotrol' to the paint to get it to flow out and not see the brush strokes? I've always had issues with seeing brush strokes, but that looked good on camera.
Thanks Ryan… Everyone’s address is public record so if anyone crazy wanted to find me they wouldn’t have any trouble :-) also this is the coordinates of the town I live in at my house 👍👍
If you don’t want to carry a full buck around while cutting in trim, there’s these nifty little things called paint cups… better hand coordination and a magnet to hold your brush out of the paint. Detest Valspar brand
HELP..! I stained my entire wooden staircase with a tinted wax including the handrail. I realise now that was a bad move because now I have to sand it down due to all the oil from people's hands. If I rewax it can I go over it with clear poly? I see you covering paint and stain with poly but after watching all your video's more than once I don't think I can coat wax, or can I.?
It is clear Erik will to be House too new Design and repair. Jason hav anxiety to little Bug. And how the hunger come the Icebox to empty himself. The with color is to this time modern and all work with Brush. Jaemie go to the Drum and roll of Drums and all have fun. Good Video to the end of Day 😆🇦🇹
You need a Caulker Spaniel if you want the dog to do trim…
Ha ha! That’s what I’m talking about

I thought it was the other way around, "Looks good from my house", when working on someone else's house.
Great entertainment and I actually learn from your pro tips occasionally. Please never breakup this crew. The interaction cracks me up.
what Bubba T said
It really does look so much better! I love how Johno picked the one job he could do laying down! 😄 With those skills, though, it's a good trade off!
Look at this glorious treat of a vid
I love watching you guys. You hang & help each other. Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
that waterfall edge at the top of the stairs looks great tooo.

So I always see instruments around you guys' houses and I wondered if Jamie could play ok with his hand... man can actually play, made me so happy
I can’t believe I just watched over 16 minutes of trim getting painted! Lol needless to say I watch every PBB video!
All the things Jaime can do with his hand are impressive, but drumming takes the cake!
It’s super cool that the cru would come over and help you.

Beautiful home and work. You're all hilarious young men.
Young men? Lol
Haven't see Ray for a while...Is he doing all right ??
Was thinking the same. Hope he’s doing ok
Was fixing to make same comment. He has not been on other channel either.
Yeah, I think we're all curious about Ray.
@@FeelingLikeThatNow most definitely
I seen a comment that as of Monday hes back so we will probably see him within the next few videos
Hahahaaaaa!!! Johno said, “your fireplace looks like a tabernacle” Oh I laughed out loud.
Great paint antics!
Thanks Chuck
Valspar is superior … also these videos are a blast
Your team is a hoot!

Those bugs flying are stink bugs, don’t smoosh them unless you wanna know how they got their name.

Beautiful dogs!! You get a "like" just for that!!
Kind of random but I just bought that same apple core tool for my GF and she loves it. lol Love the channel guys.
Your welcome🎉
HA!!!! In my house the ship lap, trim and ceilings are all painted with Gilded Linen!!!! Circa 2018
Great video, I’m not a painter so I have a question. When painting the fireplace, did you have to prime it first? I need to paint my bathroom vanity so I was just wondering, thanks
The paint we used was a paint and primer in one so it will stick to the surface pretty well… Primer is never a bad idea though
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers thanks

@@a_w_bukhari7579 what type of paint base would be the best, water, oil, acrylic?? Thanks for the feedback a_w
"it doesn't have to be perfect. in fact, i'll be mad if it's perfect". you'd LOVE my home improvement jobs then.
Hey man...we all know where you live now. Nice paint job BTW!!
So much better
It looks awesome. I saw a later video where you switched the fireplace to Grey?
A bonus vid on a Tuesday!
Yeah man!!

It’s just the coordinates of the town I live in but thank you :-)

It’s funny and cute how it’s all fun and games til Jaime arrives then the real work begins. ☺️ wait. Never mind lol
When you have finished painting your house you can come to me. There is no end to food and drink.
I like how jamie was back there jamming out 🤦🤣
Honestly the first time you jumped I thought it was cuzof a spider but it was just a window sticker lmao
Ha ha! Those were stink bugs coming out of the blinds and they are everywhere this time of year. I don’t like spiders either though
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers rather roll around in a mud then have one of those land on me lol
Wow after watching countless hours of the Idaho painter from paint life then watching these guys paint it something 😆
How big are those OMG 😲
I die inside a little more every time I see someone paint real wood 😂😭
Me too. Thanks for the warning. I don't even want to see it.
I lost it at "hey what's up with the DUDE wipes"?

Looked like the fireplace needed 2 coats while you were painting it. How'd you get 2 coats on in 1 day?
Homebuilders homes...🙂
Gentlemen, sorry if i miss something, but where is beared prof paint guy Ray?!?!? Question from russia, so sorry for any mistakes
Good eye.. he took off a few weeks. He’s back now
You've actually shown your house address 16:26 - thought I'd tell you before some crazy person shows up.

Where's Ray? Noticed it seems like we haven't seen him for months and I don't remember if anybody has said where he was
I did watch it. It wasn't that bad.
Wife approves... and more work :-)
North Carolina and Ohio must have the same curriculum. All my 9 year old does at school is "stuff" too.
Comment, how can you do anything without Ray, miss him.
Thanks Joe… He’s been back for about a week now! His beard is looking better than ever
I'm here!
Heyo!
So close to first…
@Jaime Perkins it's kind to let others get a chance now and again 🤣
How’s Ray’s foot ? I broke mine about the same time. I got cleaned up by some dogs. Worst injury ever.
He’s much better. He can walk pretty much like normal now
"I think that we're ready to paint". Everyone else, "Bye Felicia!"
