    Hi Gina, Fabulous video, but as I also have narrow shoulders it would have been good to see how you altered the shoulder length and the arm hole ajustment. Please can you do one . Thank you Gwen

    I made one of these back in 1978 at 18 for a High school seniors dinner and dance. I made it in a black and white zebraish print, very DVF.
    I felt so posh in it.

    Greetings from Canada. I bought this pattern 5 years ago with the hopes of taking sewing lessons and making beautiful dresses for myself and my family. But for some reason life got in the way and I moth balled my hopes and dreams and put everything away. You inspired me to go into the attic and unbox my sewing machine and open the box full of sewing patterns that is gathering dust everyday. So, I owe you a big thank you. The dress looks stunning on you and I love the leopard print with this style, even though I'm not a big fan of animal prints. The end result is absolutely gorgeous, especially because you did not add the collar. I would skip the cuffs for myself, simply because I like simple clean lines without fussy details, but on you they take on a formal look and it is very becoming. I give you an A+, three gold Stars ⭐⭐⭐ and a big thumbs up 👍

    Gorgeous dress! Personally I prefer with the collar: the collar, the "mousquetaires " cuffs (to wear returned) and the belt respond to each other: they are all 3 pointed and wide. These details of the authentic DvF wrap dress are very beautiful. Ghislaine from France

    While the pattern may have been designed for knits, other fabrics are suggested among which is, chambray. I am dubious about a wrap dress, particularly where my large bust is concerned, but a friend in America is buying me a very similar Butterick in the sale and I will be able to make a trial version before splashing out on the eye-wateringly expensive Vogue. I will be looking for a stable knit such as ponte that doesn't stretch out too much.

    Wow, that came out great. I have to say I have never liked any kind of leopard print on anything, but the print for this dress and how it looks on you could just change my mind, well done. I'm glad you didn't put the collar on and once the cuffs were down, I liked them better too. I usually don't like wrap dresses, because of being a bit busty, they always open, it's very flattering on you. Just found you're channel, thanks for you videos.

    Excited to finally find this pattern yesterday. I'm returning to sewing and have made a shirt, a blouse and a dress with pockets this last couple of months. Do you think this would be a challenging first project if you have never sewn with a knit before or could you just choose a woven with some 'give' in one direction?
    I go to sewing class at the local community centre so I am sure my Teacher could help (and I am pretty precise as a sewer).
    My hips are a little bigger than my top half - & I'm short waisted - so It think having the collar might visually widen my shoulders & help with proportion.
    Thx so much, Kitty

    • @ginaseams
      @ginaseams  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Kitty, that's exciting that you're returning to sewing! I actually think this would be a great pattern to start out with for knits, the only tricky bit would be the bust darts and collar but the instructions are really easy to follow. If your sewing teacher could offer some help with those bits you'll be absolutely fine, especially if you've made other bits before. Just try to get a fabric that's not too thin or slippery, or velvet actually 😆 hope that helps 🩷

      @kittybaroque9591 2 месяца назад

      @@ginaseams Amazing, thank you for taking the time to reply, I will bear in mind those tips re darts, collar & fabric. I did sewing BITD as an exam for school and I think my perfectionism comes in handy for this craft so I usually mad-tack everything. I might do a more basic dress for the remaining 3 classes (& I have a Simplicity shirt pattern to complete) so I will start next term.
      I'm short waisted so many dresses don't fit me, it will be great to have one that does.
