Had some echos for years with small lawn service… good but yeah, bump head was kind of a pain. Bought a 56… took a little getting used to balance and feel of it but MAN, what an incredible trimmer. ALWAYS there for me and I don’t deserve that with how I take care of it. I wouldn’t mind having that throttle limiter
I think I can solve your starting issues. When your started the FS94, you pulled twice with choke, snapped the trigger, then pulled until it started. I suggest you pull with choke until you hear the motor cough, and then TURN the choke off. DO NOT SNAP THE TRIGGER. Engaging the choke does two things. It closes the choke plate AND sets the throttle to high idle. If you actually TURN off the choke, it will still be on high idle and start easier. When you snap the trigger, it turns the high idle back to idle. Actually, when the machine is warm, you can turn on the choke, and turn it right off. That will give you an easier high idle start. Many handheld machines operate like that
I had to fs94 and got an fs56. Maybe I just got lucky but to me the 56 is a better machine. Just seems to me it has more power. Cut waist high weeds and want more. I'm very pleased with it and hope it last years.
Love my Stihl fs56 RC string trimmer I took down little weeds with it I bought it from big blue in Kinston North Carolina the price I had payed for it was $228 for it I love it so much that I took down weeds in my neighbors backyard it went through some string but it's so efficient to use for 27cc I wished that I could get a 94R for my back up trimmer but I'm satisfied for right now the trimmer head is huge for a auto speed feed head it's awesome to use that trimmer head glide across the yard it's like a dream trimmer I've always wanted to have I've finally bought one now I've already put the trimmer to work it past all of my test the trimmer gotten my attention hopefully it'll last me longer than those MTD brands
The corrugated black plastic sleeve is a roller for your leg when it rolls up against your leg it does not bind against you or interfere with your flow
I have run the 56 on about 30 yards for the past 4 years, and i searched up a video like this because i was wondering if it would benefit me to get a commercial model because I cant see why I'd need one, never have had any problems with my 56. After this video i see no reason to get a commercial model. Hell if I need a new one I'll probably get a 56!
They are great lightweight units. Did you get another 56? I purchased a 94R. It is pretty lightweight and supposedly more of a commercial unit. The 56 is a pretty good unit. I agree. I see no reason why you wouldn’t keep using it.
That black corrugated plastic sleeve on both trimmers is for to set the loop handle a "standard distance" I believe. And the 56 has the shoulder harness clip (it's a hole) built into the throttle/stop button handle. Have you ever had any problems with the 56? You run Stihl oil?
Great video. You made reference to the 2620. I'm locked in a comparison battle between the 94R and the Echo 2620. If you had to choose one for personal use on a 2 acre property with a little bit of everything to cut, which would you choose? Thanks!
Two completely different machines. If you want a powerful machine than can do it all go with the 2620 PAS. The 94R is great for weekly trimming. It’s light weight and nimble. But unfortunately not cut out for heavy trimming tall grasses like the 2620. Honesty either will work on a personal property. I do prefer the start procedure on the Echo. The Stihl seems to be a little temperamental to start.
Hi Carson bought the fs94r at the time of this video,do you sometimes have problems starting this unit wether hot or cold ,mine has only run about 6 hours maybe still running it's self in regards I am in Melbourne Australia Thanks.
I have not had any issues with starting. But I’ve found each power head has it’s own preferred starting method. I have had issues with it staying in the power band. Your issue sounds very similar to what my Echo 770 backpack blower does when it gets hot. I think it gets vapor locked. Very annoying.
@ Giuseppe there's a RUclips video of this exact same problem. Mine also does it. Had a new carb put on, still same problem. Only happens after sitting hot for about 20 minutes. Original poster also said his doesn't seem to want to get started at 1:50
Interesting 🤔 Had to check it out. Looks like DroneU uses a green screen but I’m not certain. If you are interested you can check out the build video called ‘How to Build a Free Standing Pallet Wood Wall’
94 is perfect for weekly maintenance. It will do heavier projects but it’s no 131. I also have a Echo 2620 that is a power house. But it is heavy. If I need to hit thick and tall grass I will use that. But it’s too much for daily use. 94 is a good compromise. It will do everything.
@@ThriftyGarage Thanks for the reply. I have a Shindaiwa T262...same as the Echo 2620 and you're right...fantastic power but sometimes a little too much for weekly cuts. If the 94 will do that, I think I might go for it. Thank you for your guidance.
Hi Carson, your comment about the 56's fuel tank, any rough idea how many minutes you'd get from a tank? I'm a UK homeowner so my garden would be much smaller than your American yards I'd imagine. Thanks.
Don't worry about it, I used an FS50 curved shaft strimmer commercially in the UK for a long time, it will run for longer than you want to use it! I could easily do the entire village churchyard, making every gravestone perfect plus the perimeter etc and not refuel. If you are shopping for a new unit look at echo, just got one (srm 236) and its wonderful. New stihls were not up to the same standard as my old unit. My trusty 2012 (give or take) FS50 with well over 500 hours on it was still running perfect but was stolen, the new ones were no comparison, sloppy trigger action, rough housing edges, chintzy wobbly plastic throttle cable cam wheel thing. Lots on display, they were all like it. Don't get me wrong, stihl (pun intended) a thousand times better than any shit mcCulloch or other low quality junk, but to increase the prices by so much AND lower the quality was too much to stomach. After all, I already got robbed once!
The 56 is perfect for a home owner. I tend to run out of fuel on commercial properties which are much larger. Likely running for 60 minutes or more if I were to guess.
I do that for heavy growth. But once it’s light trimming I go forward and to the right. So much more efficient. Also, if you tilt the trimmer head so it makes contact on the back swing it leaves a cleaner clipping deposit.

56 all the way. same product less money.
56 would be perfect for a back-up. I 94r all the time commercially

You’re the first person to comment about this. Thanks for sharing!
I like the Redmax heads the best. I use both Stihl and Redmax.
I bought the fs 56 rc 2 month ago so far so good surprised how good it does in thick stuff
Nice to hear! I especially like how lightweight it is compared to some of the commercial grade models.
@leonardomigot4040yes,more power,

94 for me. I hate those spring type helping pull cords. Thanks

@@ThriftyGarage the fs70 has a bigger engine displacement right? A bit more torque as opposed to the 94?
56,every time,never had a issue with tabs
I absolutely despise the echo heads. I personally think it’s easier to restring the stihl then the echos
Use whatever you prefer!
I think the 94r is interchangeable to put a 91r tubeshaft assembly, use attachments, but the kombi fs 56 rc has more power
Whoah shaky cam at the end felt like a scary movie lol
Stihl make their own speed feed head, Autocut C 26-2. I have them on both my trimmers, absolutely crap on the echo head.

Now that this unit is broken in it seems to start better. When it was newer it definitely didn’t have a consistent number start pattern.
In all fairness to the machine, you broke the head.
I always use the autocut, it is easier to find parts for

Which one is longer? I’m 6’4” and trimmers with a short shaft break my back.
Look up Darwin trimmer handle
What about the FS70R? It's the same as the 56R only with more commercial components.
I jumped to the 94 and it’s pretty lightweight and good performance.
