I love this episode because we see everyone trying to pawn off Orel’s advice seeking to other people, only for EVERYONE to be at fault for Orel’s latest… “Shenanigan.”
In all honesty, it's not a bad episode. Kinda takes your mind off of the crazy acid trip of the last episode and casually throws in references for us to connect the pieces all together, and it could pass off as the calm before the storm type of thing.
If I'm not mistaken this episode's name is innocence, so it's basically wrapping season 1 and 2. It's saying goodbye to Orel's naive, childish view of the world because it's about to get real
Clay cares about him. Not in a loving father kind of way, or a tough love kind of way, but a: "You are my child, my legacy." kind of way, and doesn't like what Orel is becoming. A Psychopathian Zealot.
She said, “You know that I love you.” And, despite herself, Coraline nodded. It was true: the other mother loved her. But she loved Coraline as a miser loves money, or a dragon loves its gold. In the other mother’s button eyes, Coraline knew that she was a possession, nothing more. A tolerated pet, whose behavior was no longer amusing.” ― Neil Gaiman, Coraline
Clay and Bloberta are such clever foils to one another. Clay struggles with his mountain of bad feelings and terrible instincts. Doing most of what he does out of the desire to it all drink away. Bloberta is a husk of a human who rarely feels anything. Her primary motives in life being to feel something or have a thought besides vague depression. Even if she has to literally drill it into her.
A few thing to clarify, Clay and Coach Stopframe are absolutely terrible people. Clay is only concerned about himself and his reputation, so if he sees Orel messing up, that will look bad on him. Why? You’ll find out very soon. As for Stopframe….Shapey is not Clay’s child, that already says a lot.
Disagree. On paper its filler, sure. But the episodes of moral orel that really hit hard would be waaaaay less impactful or interesting had there not been the amount of comedic eps there were.
@@L1ncoreI agree with you. The silly episodes are needed to convince the viewer that it's just your average adult swim show, so when the dark stuff comes its like a slap in the face with the creators saying "LISTEN" and then it's just a slow burn into the grim reality that is an artistic representation of selfish hypocrisy spred throughout the final episodes. It's honestly masterfully put together for that.
It might seem mid, but I think this episode does a good job of showing us how the rest of the town sees and treats Orel after all his antics. Until now, it was always kind of unspoken how batshit everything Orel has done is. It gives us perspective we hadn’t had before.
The reason this episode feels like filler was because it was already made before the season got cut, so they thought they had more episodes to work wih. the next episode "Alone" is the most controversial in the series, and the reason they canned it. The TLDR is because Adult swim told them to make the show "Darker" (refering to robot chicken and family guy humor), but the shows creators took "Darker" to mean... well... youll see.
I think this is one of the more important episodes because it recontextualizes Orel's relationship with his community as being an exchange, rather than the community only influencing Orel. It also shows how peer pressure and an overvalued sense of appearances drives everyone in the community. Orel's shenanigans and resulting punishment from Clay also hits different once you see it as attention seeking behavior, and understand Clay's relationship with his own father.
4:25 i can confirm, and yes i did search this up when this happened, Clay indeed has the EXACT SAME voice actor, as Baymax. if you search up Scott Adist Movies and TV show (the voice actor for Baymax and Clay) the first two that appear are Big Hero 6, and Moral Orel. edit: go look it up, i too cannot watch Big Hero 6 the same
The ‘build up to the hunting trip’ seems to explain why Clay wanted to have the trip in the first place. We see that he is worried about how Orel turns out. After the bloodbath, he tries to change how he punishes Orel. And when that doesn’t really work, he suggests the hunting trip. It is showing that he’s trying to be a good father but has no clue how to do it, and turns to booze to try to ignore his problems. I haven’t watched season 3 in a while, but it does sort of reveal that the adults are much more tragic than we see in the first 2 seasons.
The town wasn’t necessarily trying not to help Orel, more like be careful with what they say to him. Orel’s tends to regularly overdo things due to his naivety and take things at face value in just about every episode in s1-s2. This episode was the culmination of that trait of his. So clay doesn’t care about Orel per say, he cares about what he will do if he gives him the wrong advice.
This episode was made to start tying up lose ends. As there are only a few episodes left they have to answer all questions and make sure everything is in a neat package before we get to the hellscape that is "THE LAST EPISODES OF MORAL OREL"
I agree fully with what you said at the start. To me it seems they’re just pushing out loud and mass produced stuff now, older shows had a passion to them and had this understanding that they were gonna shape a lot of kids minds.
I know you're excited to see Orel's character development, and we'll get there. You have to admit this is a great deconstruction of Season 1 and 2's usual formula of "Good Natured Kid gets bad advice to does crazy shit as a result."
this episode was amazing because it takes the quote "it takes a village to raise a kid" and perfectly shows what that quote means by contextualizing everything that happened in the previous episodes that context being: the adults are at fault for Orel's shenanigans
Can’t wait for you to see Clay’s job also Clay doesn’t care for Orel like at all. I think he’s more worried about how everyone in the town views him and his morals/authority over his son.
The crusade using children did happen and you're right about it ending poorly. It was, by far, their worst attempt. They either died from hunger or thirst or captured and sold as slaves.
The next episode is insanely interesting, I think you’ll like it a lot. It goes into some history and backstory, revealing some information about a couple charecters.
I'm glad you started doing like video content instead of just shorts because you've already got at our attention. By doing the short sonai, you could just do videos and stream probably with some cuts in it
It’s seems that Clay rather than caring about Orel, is instead caring about how his sons actions are affecting him and the people view of him. He may also be afraid that god will unleash further violence.
I just love the SECOND Reverend Putty puts it together in his head that the song's kind of messed up. He's just having a good time and suddenly the light flips on and "uh oh."
Honestly my favorite episode. It’s the only time anyone thinks the town should take responsibility for what they put in Orels head and also just acting like the stuff he does is insane because…. It is? Like it isn’t that it’s saying they are being neglectful in just this episode, it’s putty sitting them down and telling them they HAVE. Not giving advice was only part of it, he also said to make sure they think about the advice they do give him. It wasn’t a “we need to stop helping him” but specifically what you mentioned that clay does, that everyone always gives him the wrong advice. It’s “put some actual thought into the way we coach him” as putty says and “we might not know what we’re talking about” as potterswheel says And clay somehow still gives him the worst advice after that, because no one took it to heart, and after hearing that no one did he suggests he listen to his elders and he’ll be fine. When if one of them actually listened to why what was being said was being said instead of blindly following orders, they wouldn’t be here. It would take just one adult to say “why do you ask” “what do you think” or even “I don’t know.” Like the teacher says, discussion is dead. This is, at its core, a show about how “traditional” ways of life and community are bad. It’s a small religious town in the 1950s. And this episode highlights that. Even when faced with how they’ve failed, the most effort they can put into this kid is instead of telling him to just blindly follow rules they ignore him. Everyone in this town is neglectful, even when they do give advice. Teacher doesn’t ask where doughy got the money for her stuff. Potterswheel doesn’t ask why Orel is killing himself. It turns funny family guy humor haha look how horrible they are into something real, it isn’t comedic evil, it’s just apathy. They can’t be bothered, and that’s so much worse. Every single issue in town like the dead being raised and such comes back to Orel, and every single one could be stopped if an adult took ten seconds and asked him to explain himself and listened instead of randomly throwing out commands. It might also be the fact I love putty and this episode highlights why. He doesn’t blame Orel for everything he does, he asks him to leave the room and tells the adults “we are ruining him”. And he’s the only one to give helpful advice, you don’t need to do anything, god knows you didn’t mean it, you’re just a kid and it isn’t your fault you’re like this. That’s why it’s my favorite episode. It’s the only one where at least one adult in Orels life has realized he’s been failed by his community and family and that being adults doesn’t mean they know everything, and the only one where someone tries to help even a little, even if he does it badly and even if he can’t because it’s a community wide issue.
I agreed with reverend putty; sure bloberta’s not innocent in this regard either. But Clay’s reckless negligence of Orel when it doesn’t concern him personally. Is literally the plot of this entire show. Sure Orel did what he did and needs to take accountability. But that can only go so far for a CHILD when his grown ass father is sitting right there
Clay doesn't care about Orel; Clay cares about himself: he doesn't want Orel to fuck something up royally and the town (and God) blame him. He doesn't want himself (or Danielle) to be the ones to get blamed whenever Oral inevitably fucks something up.
Clay probably has an issue with not being there for Orel in terms of advice due to how he was raised he definitely is concerned about Orel in a messed up way , as he equates things like hitting for love
To not spoil anything, clays alcoholism was worsened, he loves oral but not shapey, clay is begging for help, and clays downward spiral is due to his actions and the messages bloberta and clays dad tpught klay
Honestly, I'd have probably gotten hype for that 3d change to Dora when I was younger. Then again, I used to watch Max Steel and all those other old school 3d animated shows back in the day 😂
Finally someone talked about the new dora cause like when I first saw it I was like wtf??? 😭 Anyway moral orel is just amazing 👏🏻 can't wait for another video of moral orel and happy new year 🎉
hey ceejay season 3 of moral orel was actually meant to be moralton but as the season was cancelled for being too dark they had to make these storylines in moral orel so it revolves around before the camping trip
Dude I subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago, saw you in a short. I absolutely appreciate you bringing back the classics and your commentary is spot on. Glad I found your channel brother, keep up the good work !
I'm gonna say this episode isnt the worst because •Sets up the rest of the seasons plot, dotting more details and points to go back to. •Ends the normal Morel Orel joke of "advice, then antics insue" •It shows clay has some regrets and remorse for his actions last episode, he's possibly smoking now to drink less as it's not something he did before •It shows the adults finally addressing and noticing Orel takes everything they say seriously
I personally treat these episodes, thus one specifically. As the exact points that made orel come to his realization later on. But also the reveal that a few/all the towns folk are aware of Clay's drinking problem, and who knows what yet STILL don't push.
When Clay says "A boy needs his father" he is saying this to keep face. Clay cares more about his image and his alcohol over the concept of his son. So right here he is trying to look like a good person. As for the mug the donkey was Jesus' perfered mode of transportation.
I think this episode shows how all the bad things that happen in the town are as a result of yhe citizens. You see the whole virgin blood thing is becusse of people mistreating orel and not properly educating him.
I think the reason they did it was because they wanted to show the audience how the town feels about Orel. And seeing clay trying to be a father is because maybe clay was just like Orel as a kid
0:38 Man I have to agree, that “Dora The Explorer” crap makes me angry too. Same thing with what they did to Thomas The Tank Engine. That show carried my childhood, and then they absolutely ruined it in the past few years.
The way I saw it this episode was basically an explaination for why Clay took church away from Orel. Everyone was too lazy to talk to him properly and too scared to pawn off BS advice on him like normal so they just avoided him and then also blamed his antics (rightfully) on Clay. So Clay’s solution to the problem was to just kick Orel out of church until it blew over. He didn’t ground him because of the blood, he used the blood as an excuse to keep him out of church. It recontextualizes the previous episode from Clay’s punishment being cruel and negligent into it being cruel and Selfish as even no matter how bad Orel’s mental state gets Clay is more worried about how everyone sees him rather than Orel’s health and happiness. Which, in my opinion, makes everything he did worse, he didn’t not care that Orel was repeatedly committing suicide, he just cared about his image more, and personally I think I’d hate him less if he just didn’t care.
These episodes show how the whole town basically caused what happened to happen. They wanted control him and make him stop his quirky adventures, which caused him to miss church and have a sudden realization about God. Then when he voiced it, clay beat him till he repressed it but it was still there dormant, until the hunting trip when Orel offically blew up
i guess to me, Clay isnt worried about Orel. He's afraid of the shame Orel will bring him to everyone around him because Clay is all about maintaining an image.
“Jesus and the ass he rode in on” Is a reference to whenever in the New Testament it said Jesus had rode into town on a donkey, and a donkey can also be called an ass, therefore the rode in on an ass.
I love this episode because we see everyone trying to pawn off Orel’s advice seeking to other people, only for EVERYONE to be at fault for Orel’s latest… “Shenanigan.”
Right dude

Definitely since the next episode is the one that fit the show cancled.
If I'm not mistaken this episode's name is innocence, so it's basically wrapping season 1 and 2. It's saying goodbye to Orel's naive, childish view of the world because it's about to get real
…The fact that Orel managed to convince all the kids of Moralton to bleed out for him…
Orel could easily become a cult leader
I love how when puddy says it’s all one person’s fault, Bloberta doesn’t look at Orel, but at Clay, the actual culprit
Clay cares about him. Not in a loving father kind of way, or a tough love kind of way, but a:
"You are my child, my legacy." kind of way, and doesn't like what Orel is becoming. A Psychopathian Zealot.

― Neil Gaiman, Coraline
Him hitting Orel and being an asshole is just him being a father like his father done for him
Honestly I thought he was only worried cuz he thought God was gonna punish him inadvertently leading him down a path that doesn't end up well
bro the previous video was scarier and had more plot then 99.9% of any horror movie

Coach stopframe is such a hypocrite she can’t call clay a bad father
The amount of filler is crazy, but you gotta admit it was a fine episiode and all in a good series. 🤔
how was there filler? every confrontation orel had developed his plan to make things right with God
Disagree. On paper its filler, sure. But the episodes of moral orel that really hit hard would be waaaaay less impactful or interesting had there not been the amount of comedic eps there were.

What? The number of filler episodes in this series It's almost none

I feel like the moral orel intro would trick parents into thinking its a kids show, and then the parents see that Gods chef is playing💀
The reason this episode feels like filler was because it was already made before the season got cut, so they thought they had more episodes to work wih. the next episode "Alone" is the most controversial in the series, and the reason they canned it.

I love how moral oral is getting more attention these days maybe their will be hopes of a revival
Yeah, I hope so too but it was stated that it would be hard since the original puppets are in terrible condition
@baoziday5178 couldnt be to hard to redo them but yea that sucks and surely wont be cheap even to touch up the old ones
dont worry. that little "is clay redeming himself" is a one off
I think this is one of the more important episodes because it recontextualizes Orel's relationship with his community as being an exchange, rather than the community only influencing Orel. It also shows how peer pressure and an overvalued sense of appearances drives everyone in the community.

Clay wasn't really concerned about Orel. He was worried about being blamed for Orel's misdeeds. Just like every other adult in town.
This is probably why he was grounded from church just to keep him away
Honestly, I'd have probably gotten hype for that 3d change to Dora when I was younger. Then again, I used to watch Max Steel and all those other old school 3d animated shows back in the day 😂

Average for Moral Oral Usually means the most Horrific hell Scape Idea that makes a Normal person go to therapy👀
hey ceejay season 3 of moral orel was actually meant to be moralton but as the season was cancelled for being too dark they had to make these storylines in moral orel so it revolves around before the camping trip
9:14 the joke is referencing how Mary and Joseph rode a donkey to Bethlehem, and a donkey is also known to be called an ass.
Dude I subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago, saw you in a short. I absolutely appreciate you bringing back the classics and your commentary is spot on. Glad I found your channel brother, keep up the good work !
Clay is the mayor surprisingly
Oh boy, i'm really excited to see your reaction to the next episode (i heard the next episode is the reason the show was cancelled)
Oral relizes how good he is he's a church he realizes how everyone sees how good he is
this voice cast is LOADED. reverend putty as rigby, clay as baymax, OREL AS SANDY CHEEKS???? what else??
I could've gone my whole life without seeing that Dora and died peaceful
Idk if the Children's Crusade was how they said it in the show but there was one in 1963 that was basically a massive protest against racism
Funniest line of the entire series at 3:42 - "It's hilarious! 'I hate you Jesus, you rotten little fink, your serm-' uh-oh."
The children's crusade is real. It did not end well
Clay doesn’t care about oral. He cares about his soul and going to heaven. that’s only remote form of concern he will ever show for his family
Came to your channel from these video’s, love moral orel and your commentary is honest and entertaining. Hope you succeed homie
you should post more of these moral orel videos, i love them
I'm gonna say this episode isnt the worst because
•Sets up the rest of the seasons plot, dotting more details and points to go back to.
•Ends the normal Morel Orel joke of "advice, then antics insue"
•It shows clay has some regrets and remorse for his actions last episode, he's possibly smoking now to drink less as it's not something he did before
•It shows the adults finally addressing and noticing Orel takes everything they say seriously
PEOPLE, I SAY WE FIND A WAY FOR ADULT SWIM TO BRING BACK THIS BEAUTIFUL SHOW FOR A 4TH SEASON!!!
Nah, think it has more to do with Clay reffering to his fucked up childhood
I think this episode shows how all the bad things that happen in the town are as a result of yhe citizens. You see the whole virgin blood thing is becusse of people mistreating orel and not properly educating him.
Bro I love every single episode you make
I think the reason they did it was because they wanted to show the audience how the town feels about Orel. And seeing clay trying to be a father is because maybe clay was just like Orel as a kid

Dude that Dora cgi is smooth as fuck man
12:47 just realized the hiding place behind the bookshelf could be an Anne Frank reference... this show
9:15 It's a play on the saying "Fuck you and the horse you rode in on." It's merch from the play."
Clay didn’t care about Orel. He cared about the town getting mad at him for what Orel may do.
The coach didn't shoot Orel, but he did burn down the Figurelli's house and and try to use Orel as a virgin sacrifice to Satan
Lol I love that the bar is set so low for Clay that him just admitting he’s a father is a step in the right direction 😂😂😂

Its forbidden to wear a mixture of wool and linen, not just wool by itself. It isnt a sin, but instead reserved for higher authorities in the temple.
0:20 that's boots that's shoes
Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey but the NKJ version says "he rode in on an ass" 😂
Also I feel like Coach Stopgrame would have gotten more of an arc later on, if the show didn't end at season 3
“Jesus and the ass he rode in on” Is a reference to whenever in the New Testament it said Jesus had rode into town on a donkey, and a donkey can also be called an ass, therefore the rode in on an ass.
I cant get out the fact the priest is rigby. Now I can only see him as rigby and hear him as rigby.
“Jesus and the ass you rode in on,” referring to psalm Sunday and how he rode into the town on a donkey, back in the day called an ass.
My shcool is uniform is literally made out of wool my entire shcool has sinned
I didn't think Clay Cared about Orel, I thought he cared about not being blamed for the damnation of everyone.
This episode is actually amazing storytelling
