@CeeAyeJay What Orel was actually repressing was that you don't need to go to a church just to connect with God, you pray anywhere and still speak with God, so in one way, you could say that anyone can be a "church", but because of it being repressed, Orel becomes smaller then disappears entirely into the church, forcing him to believe that the only way to see God is by going to church(also when he was finally revived in the hospital, Clay didn't actually know what did Orel see in his mind, but knew what was going to say would probably mess up the town, so Clay stopped him from speaking). also, I know that was a lot to take in just now, but hopefully that actually made some sense about what Orel (almost) learned but had to repress in that episode.
There are theories and interpretations about Orel's weird afterlife trips, and personally, I love the line "I'm a chur-", said by Orel but cut off. It's fun, the goofy kind of weird we expect from Orel, and I see it as him realising the nature of religion, at least to him, is a personal connection that isn't defined strictly like how Clay drills into his head. While Clay says that you have to go to church to get brownie points from God, Orel sees himself as the church, meaning he doesn't NEED the stern doctrine that's surrounded him all his life to communicate with God. When he's revived and beaten in Clay's study, his head retreats further and further back into the church, which is Clay hammering the idea of religious rules back into him, forcing him back within the confines of Morelton's skewered definition of religion. We see the congregations pants fall down, showing how he sees the adult figures similar to how he sees his father. We then see a bunch of clips from Nature, the episode at the end of season 2, the hunting trip. This happens after this event, which means Orel is seeing things that haven't happened yet. And under this, we hear Reverend Puddy say, "Do you think God can't see into the future?", followed by presumably the hand of God reaching down. Puddy said this in the next episode. This is kind of a joke because while chronologically Puddy said this before episode 2, it's said in episode 3. It's also about how Orel is seeing into the future through a prophetic vision, from God. As we see thought the show, Reverend Puddy isn't the best roll model, or preacher for that matter. While occasionally he gives a decent sermon with a lesson Orel can take to heart, he often gives at best incomplete and at worst absolutely heinous lessons, based on the evangelical faith that the whole show is satirizing. Holy he- well, heaven, I love this analysis! Missed the whole play on chronological sequences by Rev Putty, but that's such an interesting detail. Honestly, the rev is weirdly a kind of mouthpiece for God sometimes, so it makes sense for him to hint at the prophetic vision from God to Orel. And good ol' Bartholomew, who paralleled Jesus, representing a kinder side of religion that Orel's always had faith in waiting for him in heaven is so sweet.
Thanks alot dude so much of it went by to fast for me to understand so you slowing it down and explaining it to me really helped great essay thanks again
I agree with everything except for the last paragraph. I don't think Clay beat the idea that Moral was a church out of him. I think with each belt hit the exact opposite happened and it made him think and reconsider his love for his dad, and his father's position on church. It strengthened.the idea that he was a church instead of getting rid of it.
@spence8507 my analysis is based on the images in the episode. With each belt hit, the Orel that is a church shrinks, like a turtle hiding, until it's no longer Orel, it's just a church.
The torment is real, I pity Orel, because all he wanted to do was go to Church, being the religious person he is; and yet, it was taking away from him by Clay, no remorse whatsoever, thus driving Orel mad and leading to the future consequences. Clay genuinely is one of the worst antagonists in any show or media
Moral Orel is probably one of the greatest critiques and dysections of religion and abusive families I have ever seen in animation. It just feels all too real.
I think the winks Bloberta and Clay make towards the camera represent how they're a functioning and loving couple in public but in private it's obviously pretty bad.
Orel saw a void, and came the the realization, that the church is the people, even further, it’s the individual. And that the kingdom of heaven and God was within him all along, and not in a building he liked. But in Morelton… these things go against the teachings and their way of life, the dogma . Ergo, morel’s new world view was becoming blasphemous. So, Clay administered discipline, until morel regressed back into his previous mindset, and sealed the deal with the offer/distraction of Orel’s first hunting trip. .
What's most disturbing is that Orel's new view is actually closer to what the Apostles taught- there were no Church buildings for the first century Church- most meetings happened late in the evening or early morning at a person's home, and they all enjoyed each-other's fellowship with prayer, praise, and worship, followed by the Lord's Supper- a full meal to celebrate and remember Christ. The Church is not a building- its the people.
Bloberta and Clay's father may have had a part in the life decisions Clay made, but those decisions were still Clay's to make. He's the only one responsible for the way his life turned out, especially when he has the resources and power to be better but chooses not to.
Why does everyone forget about Clay's mother? She's the one that spoiled him rotten and made him think that the world revolves around him. She's more at fault than his dad, imo.
@@facundomontivero2299 spoiled children can still learn, but it was Clay's dad that basically abused him and Pavloved his son into associating abuse with love. Clay's parents sucked and Clay sucks
To me; in this episode Orel finally realized that he doesn't need the stern rules and impositions given to him by his father and the institution of religion. The whole "I am a church!" Realization to me translates into him coming to terms with the fact that he doesn't necessarily have to be in a place of worship or be perfectly aligned with his surrounding societal expectations to feel close to God or feel his presence. He realized some if not all the bullcrap his dad's been subjecting him to, specially regarding this episode and by saying I am a church he is not just easing his mind with the whole grounding situation, he's woken up
I feel so bad for Orel. This episode is frightening but also an incredible experience. But it ends so sadly. Orel had the right answer but it was taken from him.
This is one of my favorite episodes. I relate so deeply with Orel, having been brought up in a strict church setting. Those realizations he has being beaten back down into him by Clay's abuse always hurts me, because Orel so desperately wants to be a shining example for his community. He almost had it. So close. Then Clay beat those ideas out of his forward thoughts.
I love how Moral Orel when you rewatch it, many little details Connect. Like why clay didn't punish orel in the turn the other cheek episode, Why doughy helped orel to die and more. Season 3 shows some backstories and some flashback
Oral seeing himself as the church was him realizing that his connection to God is one that is internal and not through the church specifically. This may also explain why he was able to start seeing the corruption in the people around him after that moment.
I've been watching moral oral for the first time along with you. I wanted to see it for myself it's a masterpiece. Thank you for introducing me to this.
When Orel says that he is "Church", I think he finally realized he didn't need to go to Church to be considered a Good Christian, but as his Father is spanking him, that's him slowly losing that knowledge through his Father basically telling him that's a bad thing to do and say. So Orel Probably saw the Pagan Afterlife, which is actually similar to what he saw, it isn't something ttangelable, heck even Celtic Christains still maintain some of their Pagan heritage through their art and even the Celtic Cross. You'll love the ending by the way, it'll make you happy for Orel and hiis two brothers.
the episode that led to the start of this one was pretty good too, mainly because of the adults realization about orel. and i think that the blinking while clay and bloberta were hugging is because they really didnt mean what they said
This episode is so well done and deeply chilling at the same time, my gosh!!! Even the credits are something of a masterpiece with the way the music and heartbeat plays and the image sequencing of the Nature episode. I definitely agree this is a PEAK episode 🥹 Also yes I do agree Bloberta and Clay were rubbing in the church thing into Orel's face. 😞 I could tell right off the bat sadly
Not gonna lie, Im guessing that Clay has been in Orel's head for so long that hes thought differently about how the world is to his view like example, when we saw the red filled cloudy scene im guessing that clay has been changing Orels mind to see what he wasnt supposed to see (Like the churches). Thats my little summary anyway
The lines “I don’t need a building to tell me that” and “I’m a church” essentially go hand in hand. Orel realized through his near death experience that he doesn’t need a building to dictate what his relationship with God is, or if he even believes. Essentially going against the belief that you strictly have to go to church or follow the Bible literally and figuratively, Orel understood (before Clay beat it out of him) that he and only he alone can decide what his relationship with God is through his own form of worship that doesn’t involve a building.
I really love this episode. It goes from really odd jokes that remind you of earlier seasons, but it slowly gets darker and darker, until it reaches nature, which is a crazy reconnection that makes this episode perfect. This episode's existence also makes me like the ending a lot. No spoilers though.
The reason for clay being a monster is both points. I won't go into detail about it, but it is both points. The answer will be revealed later on in the season
It's weird that even though you upload nearly every day it feels like I've got to wait so long for more content of any sort from you. Loving these videos and shorts really hope you can carry on like this
I feel like moral saw some sort of way to communicate to god one step closer and I feel like his showing him what would happen is what oral was praying so god could tell oral. Also a reason why oral may have been shown the trip was to prepare him and why oral didn’t do anything. Also I’m watching this at the same pace as you ceejay. Can’t wait for more!
I like c: nice channel! :3 Edit: Just watched some more and yea I agree that quality gets better. To be honest I didn't go "ew reaction channel" because you were actually good at it and I just noticed that. It's fun to watch not because I'm curious about the repeating cycle of "Oooh duuude! oooh duuude!". Doesn't really feel like you are leeching off on pre-existing content and DO put work in it by adding your own original comments + interacting with the audience.
These kinds of comments make me smile. Thank you for that! I accepted that I won't ever be a big reaction channel. I don't do what everyone else does. This a safe haven for everyone and I will always be genuine.
@@CeeAyeJay Well after writing that I also noticed you work on debunking in your own way which I find to be thought provoking, would be wrong to call you "*just* a reaction channel" when it feels more like watching it with a friend. :)
Every time, I just get pissed off with Bloberta. I'm not saying everything would be better if she was better, but Clay wouldn't be an alcoholic and he probably would've learned that beating or hitting your child doesn't mean you love them. I could be wrong, but Bloberta just wanted to get married and made the man drink so he would consider marrying her. I feel so bad for everyone. They all need some extra long therapy, 7 times a week.
While Clay is a piece of crap, that is parenting. Beating doesn't do anything anymore so when one form of punishment doesn't work, you take a new path. You strike at the core of things. It is what the kid truly loves the most out of anything, and you deny that one thing, that is a true punishment. But seriously, what the absolute trick was that scene, now I am down for seeing occult and cult stuff but i think i need my eyes to be scrubbed in therapy XD
I believe that orel actually experienced hell and what we saw first that red open space was purgatory and the places got worst each time and at the end his life flashed before his eyes as he was dead
This show is amazing by the stop motion to the sounds and to the effort but into it. What I've heard abt this episode: The part were he was dressed as the church and all the funky colors in the background, He realizes he doesnt need go to church, like he doesnt need a whole building for him to be close to god or have a good connection. But the scene where clay is spanking him and orel is like getting inclosed insise the church, His like feeling the same way he did before, like HE NEEDS a building to go to able to be close to god. Im not sure if this was a good explanation but that what ive heard and that what ive tried understand in this episode
I’m fairly new to your channel but so far I’ve really enjoyed all of your content, especially with shows I either didn’t know about or have forgotten about. You may have to censored a lot, but I recommend the show the boondocks.
Ok, from this episode alone I feel like them representing Orel with the church is his self-identity. Because he was stripped away from church by Clay, it had felt like apart of him was missing, which is why we see him going insane without it. As we know church is literally EVERYTHING to Orel, and to have it be taken away from him is like taking away his life (cue his obsession with "transcending" to speak with God in what is supposedly the Afterlife). In the final shot of the episode we see Orel getting "disciplined" while having visions of him in his self-made church. We can see after every hit Clay is tearing down Orel- as depicted from him going back to hide in his self-made church. I think it's a very interesting and an important detail because, back in the 1700s America was going through a revolutionary religious movement called "The Great Awakening". In where many Americans transitioned between groups within the church known as the "Old Light" and the "New Light". In the sense of cutting it super short for this context, the Old Light was approved by people (mainly original colonists) who wanted to stay the same, keep the original tradition of Catholic and Christianity alive. While the New Lights were people who didn't want to stay the same, and thought that it was immoral for some of the things they did. An example of that was, that you could not pray anywhere else BUT church. New Lights absolutely despised that and transcendentalists went to preach how it was more important to experience God through other, more convenient ways. Hence gaining tract to a more open and idealistic way of seeing people for their own morals. I feel like this episode really hit home to this because as Clay, an older and unchangeable man, literally represented how the Old Lights from the Great Awakening did not want to change. We know that he'll never change, no matter how many horrible things he does to Orel and to the rest of the people around him. Another thing I had forgotten to mention was the unspoken layer of power that church people held. That many people in position of power within the churches were corrupt and wanted order and control over their people (hence the example from earlier). Which is why I associate Clay as being an Old Light. As for Orel he is what we can say is a New Light. He is much younger, and very much advocates change through his actions (whether they be unintentional and disturbing). As of more in the later seasons, we can see that Orel finally sees his world cracking in a lot ways, but as this episode shows- he is becoming more and more hermit within his Old Light of view instead of growing out of it. Which I think that the metaphor of him in his self-made church works really well with. Because his religion is his self a whole, Clay breaking him every time is like telling him that "You can't be yourself." Sorry for making this an essay-long but I just love reviewing videos and writing about them! Especially if they're something I knew I learned in school Kekekekeke If you've finally made it here, I salute you and thank you for hearing me out 💖
This is insane. So oral who was stuck in the church's idea. What was more of right is now forced back into it basically in the last scene but every time his father whipped him we see him who is not realizing he is his own church being pushed back into believing he has to go to church to be saved
Something tells me that one oral Saul may cause may have caused him to start questioning his beliefs and reality of what’s real and what isn’t but also what he saw into the future might he might soon come to realize that he’s actually in for a world of pain and suffering he’s come to realize that eventually life is not gonna be exactly how he expects from his father and mother, or anyone else around them
The episode is playing with the theme that your body is a temple. But having his dad literally beat that idea out of him was crazy. I think him saying “I’m a church” was him realizing that he doesn’t need a specific place where a priest ( or father) would tell him how to be close to god (or live his life). And just to have his dad cover his mouth when trying to explain what he saw and try to control the narrative. Orel getting beating out of the church is kind of him loosing faith. Not so much in god but more in the religion and his father. It’s Orel’s personal faith versus his father. And the opening adds to this because he’s not being silly to god. He’s not taking church seriously any more. Orel dying was the only time he got real answers and not just bullshit.
You might also wanna watch a beforal orel when you finish this it is a prequel and it goes back about 8 years, and helps us understand why clay is such a bad dad and person.
Belief is in each person not within the church. The message oral found through death. Clay forces his dogma over orals enlightenment with each punishment, reducing orals individual connection to his beleif and love for his church to just an icon.
@@LOREisDEAD spoilers but the story is that Orels parents are victims of their raising. Laborta was taught a woman needed to marry and have children. This made her desperate and seek Clay, but he was a upstanding character back then. She tricked him into drinking and saw it was easy to control him, like how Laborta’ s mother controlled her father who also turned to alcoholism for escape. So she twisted him up. On the other hand Clay was taught to sacrifice his happiness for his family so stuck with them spiraling him into depression but because he was taught the father was always right he torments Orel.
@@ironicugandan5826 Yeah, I know. I just try to remember that they're not good people, but I still feel for them both. Bloberta's backstory was something I wasn't aware of, but that makes a lot of sense. Clay's, I was. I just feel so bad for him. He probably kept telling her he didn't want to get married because he was in love with Danielle or was at least aware he didn't really like women, or at least Bloberta for that matter, and I really wanted to see Danielle and Clay get together. I felt like it was kinda cute and wholesome to see them together.
Moral orel is one of my favorite adult cartoons ever made. It makes me so happy to see it getting more attention! The show deserves love! It wasnt afraid. To show u the ugliness of the world and how backwards Christianity could be. But it also shows to not give up on faith even when theres so much negativity around you This episode is one of mt favorites for it being a giant ball if foreboding. Its like god was warning orel of what was yet to come and orel was learning true belief was in himself. But the spanking from clay beat those thoughts down and orel went right back to blindly following the town. That enlightenment is still there inside orel, but when it hit the surface, clay beat it back into submission
he said im a church, so he understood that he didnt need to go to a building to talk to god, and them his father beat the concep out of his mind, to go back in line with what the others think.
At this point I'm going to watch this episode, Numb, and the camping trip episode (iirc its called Nature) and make a whole ESSAY because of how obsessed I am with it
I wanted you to see this episode so long god damn! Anyway I don’t know if anyone has said it yet because I can’t look through all the comments but in the scene where it shows moral as the church cradling himself I think that’s supposed to symbolise that he’s been raised by god and that church. Especially when he goes through the flashbacks half of them was him in it. I think this is where he started doubting the church and god himself. I also agree with another comment here made by @fanonymouse that when he’s being beat and his head is slowly going into the church that it represents him getting the morals of god beat into him again. I also agree that this is where he really started to resent his dad. Especially since he’s now looking back at all the beatings and punishments he’s had. I honestly can’t wait for you to finish this series and to see your point of view of it. Be moral and watch more Orel real 😔
I think based of having watched the whole show. That the back tracking shows what happens around Orel and the true nature of his family that we have not seen. The first season three episodes show what led to the camping trip and orels realisation of his parents behaviour
So a lot of people have talked about the whole side of being a church and the stuff with that but the thing I find interesting is the ending section with church Orel being literally beaten into shape. It’s kind of a cool representation of it.
The the reason why Orel's parents where saying church is he had gone stur crazy so much from saying church that now on that day all he can hear is church

Bro I swear Orel's parents are monsters for this
And for so many other episodes also.
Nah it's gotta be reverned putty he's that sex deprived that he made Orel squirt his stuff into ladies💀😭
They deserve the "No Russian" treatment.
Did they realy wanted to rub the fact that he's grounded for church in his face?
@@vather5708 I guess
Bloberta and Clay's father may have had a part in the life decisions Clay made, but those decisions were still Clay's to make. He's the only one responsible for the way his life turned out, especially when he has the resources and power to be better but chooses not to.
Yeah. He should've gotten some therapy. I really feel for him, but dear God man, get some damn help.
I'll say it's the best prequel episode I ever forgot existed.
It's great to experience something again like it's the first time.
Dude, what the heck!? That was HANDS DOWN the SCARIEST/CREEPIEST episode of Moral Orel I’ve EVER SEEN!!
Yeah it is
Whar bout numb
I love how Moral Orel when you rewatch it, many little details Connect.
Like why clay didn't punish orel in the turn the other cheek episode,
Why doughy helped orel to die and more.
I'm so glad to finally have full videos instead of shorts
Even the devil would fear clays drinking problems
The Devil would say Lake of Fire for Clay.
“You think God Can’t see into the future” Followed by the Nature Pt.1 & 2 visual was pure gold and had me taken a back after my first few watchings
the episode that led to the start of this one was pretty good too, mainly because of the adults realization about orel. and i think that the blinking while clay and bloberta were hugging is because they really didnt mean what they said
This episode is so well done and deeply chilling at the same time, my gosh!!! Even the credits are something of a masterpiece with the way the music and heartbeat plays and the image sequencing of the Nature episode.
I definitely agree this is a PEAK episode 🥹
Also yes I do agree Bloberta and Clay were rubbing in the church thing into Orel's face.
Orel not going to church and going insane to the point where he almost dies just to see god is hilarious but sad at the same time
The lines “I don’t need a building to tell me that” and “I’m a church” essentially go hand in hand.
Kinda want to post the essay that I wrote about Orel in "heaven", I think that moment is actually a really profound moment for Orel.
I wonder how unspeakable Clay and Bloberta can get before my dad returns with the milk
I’m so happy we’re getting full videos from you now. This shit is what I need after a long day at work
I just finished watching all of Moral Orel today and it was one hell of a show. It's definitely in my top 5 favorite shows.
OOOOHHH, this season will be so good and i cant wait to see what happens when you learn about why exactly clay is so horrendous
I love your content! You seem smart and passionate about content creation.
Thank you so much 🤗
Alright let's see orel get bullied again 😢
It's weird that even though you upload nearly every day it feels like I've got to wait so long for more content of any sort from you. Loving these videos and shorts really hope you can carry on like this
I’m glad you’re posting full videos! Love this content
Edit: Just watched some more and yea I agree that quality gets better.
I need a full 3 hour long fight between Clay and Blark (Just Blark beating up Clay for 3 hours)
(In a snarky tone)”I thought Blark was your favorite?”
"oh hi dad" 💀
I am loving your editing and examination of sriesnso far. Great stuff man! Glad your doing these long vids!
Finally a longer video it’s about time
Aight
I have literally watched every video. Enjoying the work my guy
“I’m a church” I actually learned this in my church ⛪️ that the building isn’t the church it’s the people in the church.
I believe that orel actually experienced hell and what we saw first that red open space was purgatory and the places got worst each time and at the end his life flashed before his eyes as he was dead
This might be the final push for me to watch the whole sefies. I'm convinced.
10:01 doughy really cranked that shit up too the max😭😭
Bro the video just started and im already being called a "cee men"😭
This is going to be good
😂
This entire season is brilliant, don’t worry.
This the dude that talks the whole time during a movie
Im awake at 4 for this and as usual i am not disappointed.
My favorite part of the episode is that reverend puttt says “you think god can’t see into the future” but he doesn’t say that until a later episode
This show is amazing by the stop motion to the sounds and to the effort but into it.
What I've heard abt this episode:
The part were he was dressed as the church and all the funky colors in the background, He realizes he doesnt need go to church, like he doesnt need a whole building for him to be close to god or have a good connection.
But the scene where clay is spanking him and orel is like getting inclosed insise the church,
His like feeling the same way he did before, like HE NEEDS a building to go to able to be close to god.
14:13 this part scares the shit out of me every time I see it
"cee men and ladies"
You knew what you were doing
Ok, that was pretty sick. Maybe I should check out this show in full at some point.
He learned that he doesn't have to go to a physical place to be with God
Because his religion is his self a whole, Clay breaking him every time is like telling him that "You can't be yourself."
Sorry for making this an essay-long but I just love reviewing videos and writing about them! Especially if they're something I knew I learned in school Kekekekeke
If you've finally made it here, I salute you and thank you for hearing me out 💖
This is insane.
They do rub it in orels face. Laborta, or however you spell her name, does love Orel but she loves feeling superior more.
Exactly. I don't really know how to feel about her. I feel for her, but she's the one who did most of it.
HONEY WAKE UP CEEAYEJAY DROPPED A NEW VIDEO
Moral orel is one of my favorite adult cartoons ever made. It makes me so happy to see it getting more attention! The show deserves love! It wasnt afraid. To show u the ugliness of the world and how backwards Christianity could be. But it also shows to not give up on faith even when theres so much negativity around you
This episode is one of mt favorites for it being a giant ball if foreboding. Its like god was warning orel of what was yet to come and orel was learning true belief was in himself. But the spanking from clay beat those thoughts down and orel went right back to blindly following the town. That enlightenment is still there inside orel, but when it hit the surface, clay beat it back into submission
Bro was flabbergasted 💀
Not me waiting anxiously for this episode 🤷♀️
when he said cee men and ladies I thought so wrong but the subtitles came back up to change my mind 😭😭😭😭
he said im a church, so he understood that he didnt need to go to a building to talk to god, and them his father beat the concep out of his mind, to go back in line with what the others think.
At this point I'm going to watch this episode, Numb, and the camping trip episode (iirc its called Nature) and make a whole ESSAY because of how obsessed I am with it
“Committing sudoku” 😂😂😂 I love this channel
It seems clay knows what the afterlife is, and it's part of the reason why he is so messed up. In his own abusive way, he is trying to spare orel.
When he was suggesting to go watch his other video, the second, he pointed the banner forward popped up, which was just freaking perfect timing
I feel like you would really enjoy the venture brothers
just got done with work and now im watching this hell yeah
When doughy said "mmmm.... Okay!" It gave me a "sure thing pal!" Personally tone. Doughy is dumb fun soul that's for sure.
Okay I got the notification I'm ready to watch.
Time for a good video.
Yeah I reached the end of the video.
Also comment section was frozen because I was here so early.
Clay gets his own back story episode which explains a LOT
These moral oral videos go crazy
I think based of having watched the whole show. That the back tracking shows what happens around Orel and the true nature of his family that we have not seen. The first season three episodes show what led to the camping trip and orels realisation of his parents behaviour
"I AM A CHURCH!" Orel has lost his mind...
So a lot of people have talked about the whole side of being a church and the stuff with that but the thing I find interesting is the ending section with church Orel being literally beaten into shape. It’s kind of a cool representation of it.
Imma show this to the kindergarten teachers, i'll say its a religious show
The the reason why Orel's parents where saying church is he had gone stur crazy so much from saying church that now on that day all he can hear is church
proud cee man!! 🔥
Wait till episode 7
I don't know what is worse Orel GOING TO CHURCH, LEARNING AND EXECUTING THE TEACHINGS. Or orel not going to church😂😂😂
Seemen and ladies what an intro💀☠️
6:14 is basically when he wants to go to church so much that it's all he can think about and its all that he wants to hear
And thats how the cycle was complete, and realization was hit.
I love this show and I don't know why lmfao
The Bible doesn’t say animals can’t go to heaven. The pagan Catholic Church made that crap up. But it never specifically says that.
WE ARE THE CEEMEN
