0:58 Judging by the 2013 date on the eBay listing, the model would've been around 15 years old at that point (since it has to predate the actual Superman: Krypton Coaster built by B&M that was opened in 2000). The seller is also listed from Seguin, Texas (a suburb of San Antonio) so it obviously didn't travel very far from the park the coaster was supposed to go in. If I had to take a guess, after Togo's idea was rejected the model was put into storage at a branch office Togo had in Texas and then ended up in private hands when Togo went bankrupt in 2001 and that branch office shut down as a result. Someone then had it in their private collection for a decade or so, then sold it to the flea market vendor who the eBay seller got it from. This is purely speculative, of course, but it makes sense to me. :)
Honestly, can we truly say how it would turn out, or how it would compare to Superman? Togo's element does actually seem to be airtime-focused megas. Sure, the ones in America were atrocious, but perhaps it's because Togo isn't great with coasters that have inversions.
I remember someone on Reddit's Roller Coaster Tycoon-subreddit a few weeks ago modding the game (with OpenRCT) to build something like that Arrow SkySurfer, and one of the notes was that "this has probably never even been thought of in real life".
The figure 8 loop was used in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. But weirdly, the arrow-like hyper coaster model was the one that used it and not the Schwarzkopf inspired looping coaster.
14:42 my uncle was able to ride the high roller once, though he had his eyes closed most of the time. He doesnt really realize what a noteworthy rare credit that is
Boiler One I rode the high roller. It was actually really boring. I had just ridden Big Shot. So the coaster that just went in a few circles around the side of the tower was kind of boring. It did not really do anything or go fast. Now I realize it pretty cool to be able to say I did it. But I remember thinking it was no big deal. The new(er) ride that goes over the edge of the tower is WAY scarier. I’ll never go it it again.
@@robynvandergrift8360 that later coaster you mentioned about going over the edge. I don't think there is enough money on earth to get me to ride that thing. I don't mind thrill's but that one steps way over the line for me.
The one time I went up the Stratosphere, we bought the lift ticket, plus two ride tickets, one for the High Roller, and one for the Big Shot. When we got up there, the High Roller was down (we offered our services as sandbags while they were testing it) but ended up having to do the Big Shot twice instead. Damn! (Probably the best luck I ever had in Vegas.)
The high roller sucked. I wanted my money back even though i got to ride it for free. The 2 newer rides go from eh, to crazy. I cant remember which is named what but one os basically a teeter totter that, when pointed down, it slides forward and stops with the car a good few feet past the end, unless you sit in front, its not that great. The other one moves the ride over the edge and starts to spin, and as it does its arms extend outward until you are basically looking close to straight down. Funny story with that onebis some years back, as a safety feature if high winds kick up, it was at its mid ride point when it shut down with it fully extended leaving passengers stuck, looking down, for like 4t min before they could be brought back in. Some of the riders of course tried to sue but had no case as the ride did what it was designed to do and if you have ever been to Vegas then you know it can be calm outside and 5 seconds later 45 mph winds kick up out of nowhere.

Everything looks good on paper and in the models until you get to reality and learn it’s a maintenance nightmare. I knew that polar coaster wouldn’t be build come on it’s to good to be true. Who would approve that? You can still jump on the strat if you want that experience.
I think if they built the complex without THAT coaster it would be cool. Maybe just have a different ground based coaster going in and around the building. The rest sounds cool too with the movie theater and restaurants and all.
I rode every ride on the Stratosphere including the now non existent slow roller coaster. I love the Insanity, the Xscream and the Big Shot. I got to ride the Big Shot for free 8 times in a row because a male engineer invited me to ride it with him. I want to go back and do the bungee jump ride since it wasn't finished the last time I was there.
With Togo having a pretty poor record with their U.S. installations, it seems like it's a blessing in disguise that it never happened that way. It would be different though if it was more on the quality level of Fujiyama. -Gary
@@ArrowThrills , What I mean is that Togo wasn't exactly a producer of quality coasters in the U.S. as most of them have been pretty rough. Thinking about the coasters of Togo, if this proposed one for Fiesta Texas rode more like Big Apple Coaster at New York, New York Hotel in Vegas, then it would have probably been an awful ride. On the other hand, if it rode like Fujiyama in Japan (which is a really good ride), then it would probably be pretty popular. -Gary
If the last coaster was built Home owners: “hey, do you hear that screaming?” Family members: “it’s just the roller coaster” Meanwhile someone is getting murdered
The Extreme Zone, especially The Sky Surfer will be happening sooner than later. It’s something that will create an enormous draw for the park that launches it, and we have the technology to make it happen.
Aww man. I'm from Southend and I remember hearing about a potential coaster.. it would have been awesome.. would have forced Adventure Island to work harder too.
Damn, can't believe I had the same idea of a coaster type that already excisted (the X-wing coaster) without even knowing it did. The only thing I had different was that my version was more like a doubledecker wing coaster than a divecoaster with wings. Hope Disney takes some notes... Would love to see s&s make a Tie Fighter Axis coaster aswel!
Dunno about you, but the fishhook coaster on the stratosphere probably woulda been a disaster if it had been built. Going from 700 feet and being stopped by a 400 foot spike.Even with it being beyond vertical, somehow I could see it flying off the track and crashing on the first test run.
Half of Six Flags projects either got cancelled or went to a different park during the 2000s, so I'm kinda glad Fiesta Texas and Magic Mountain ended up at least getting Superman and X2 beforehand.
There was once a concept for an execution coaster. The coaster would send riders through ever shrinking loops that would kill them in a state of euphoria.
I actually invested in the Orlando Polercoaster! Only a small amount of money but it sounded so cool. I got my money back because they canned the whole project before it got anywhere because the first round of funding didn't meet its goal.
Phantasialand was orriginaly planned for an Intamin Bobsled coaster for 1995 the project was later cancelled and replaced by Colorado Adventure in 1996
You are amazing dude I actually agree with your opinions. Coaster studios I don’t watch cause he boasts sometimes and I don’t quite enjoy his videos but yours are high quality and amazing
750-feet tall is just WAY too tall. I don’t care if there’s no chain lift, or not. That’s insane. 122 mph straight down is insane! 120-135 launched on the ground (Dragtser & Kingda Ka…ive been on both) is insane enough
The Star Wars coaster gave me an idea-Star Wars themed axis coaster, you ride in an A-wing or a Jedi starfighter, preferably indoors like a more intense Space Mountain
Little bit of trivia for you. When Bob Stupak built the Stratosphere in the early 90s, he envisioned a King Kong style ride where a large gorilla filled with riders would climb up the side of the tower. I don't recall how much investment conceptually happened, but I do recall seeing concept drawings for it.
I've ridden Tranan once, and all i can say is it was really fun. I had no idea that the ride actually had an inversion, it's amazing how they hid it. The restraints are a bit weird, they're like seatbelts but its more old-school i guess. I'd gladly recommend Tranan!
You forgot to mention that the Figure 8 loop makes an appearance in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. However, rather than appearing on the Looping Roller Coaster as it would’ve in real life, it appears on the Hyper Coaster.
Which is why S&S should not be letting those concepts gather dust - if they have the rights to use 'em, they should see if there's a way to make them work for real!
12:00 If you have ever read "The Right Stuff" or seen the movie (although I don't recall it being in the movie per se) there was a training device called "MASTF" called "mastiff" which was something an astronaut in training sat in and that spun him on 3 axes similar to the ride shown here (as a matter of fact, many of the machines, like the centrifuge, used to train the Mercury astronauts for space travel, were borrowed to make entertaining thrill rides....as a matter of fact, maybe it was the other way around, now that I think about it!) It meant "Multi-Axis Speed Trainer Fun thing" (no of course that's wrong, all I remember is author Tom Wolfe said it made nearly all the astronaut trainees gag and throw up)....anyway, I guess flying to the stars and orbiting the earth is the ultimate thrill ride.
Special thanks to NoLimits Fan for his amazing Wooden Invert simulation! Check out his channel through the link in the description!

When I saw that concept, I thought hey it looks cool, but don't think it'll ever be built. In some areas it didn't look very safe.
"Jump on the strat" bruh, you really trust a piece of string the same way you trust a coaster?
Amazing coasters and a great video, glad I could help out with the swine video.
Those last 2 make my palms sweat just hearing about them, lol
With Togo having a pretty poor record with their U.S. installations, it seems like it's a blessing in disguise that it never happened that way. It would be different though if it was more on the quality level of Fujiyama.
-Gary
I would have been cool what do you mean
@@ArrowThrills , What I mean is that Togo wasn't exactly a producer of quality coasters in the U.S. as most of them have been pretty rough. Thinking about the coasters of Togo, if this proposed one for Fiesta Texas rode more like Big Apple Coaster at New York, New York Hotel in Vegas, then it would have probably been an awful ride. On the other hand, if it rode like Fujiyama in Japan (which is a really good ride), then it would probably be pretty popular.
-Gary
The swine coaster probably would have been an absolute catastrophe but damn I wish they'd done it.
No wonder Skyplex wasn’t heard from again in Orlando. Still seems like a really cool idea
I wonder why it wasn't built in Atlantic City? It's the perfect place for a huge tourist trap like the Polercoaster.
I go to college in Orlando and my hospitality professor would talk about the #2 ride all the time. I had no idea that they stopped production of it.
15:43 Aw yes so nobody can hear the passengers scream for help if something went wrong
If the last coaster was built
Home owners: “hey, do you hear that screaming?”
Family members: “it’s just the roller coaster”
Meanwhile someone is getting murdered
Yeah considering the neighboorhood around there, aka Naked City, is known for being a big drug hub the coaster could have RAISED value.
The Extreme Zone, especially The Sky Surfer will be happening sooner than later. It’s something that will create an enormous draw for the park that launches it, and we have the technology to make it happen.
That Figure 8 Inversion looks insane
Aww man. I'm from Southend and I remember hearing about a potential coaster.. it would have been awesome.. would have forced Adventure Island to work harder too.
That under water segment in the first planet coaster clip is killing me LMAO
You can just make underwater tunnels?!
I really wanted the Polar coaster to be made. Apparently Universal hates competition.
Blake Bolin yeah they do
Now I finally know where the figure 8 loop from Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 came from!
Only time will tell if these concepts are ever revived and built
Dunno about you, but the fishhook coaster on the stratosphere probably woulda been a disaster if it had been built. Going from 700 feet and being stopped by a 400 foot spike.Even with it being beyond vertical, somehow I could see it flying off the track and crashing on the first test run.
Adventure Island is a very good theme park and they make good work of their limited space
If I had a million dollars I will build my own amusement park🎢🎡
Half of Six Flags projects either got cancelled or went to a different park during the 2000s, so I'm kinda glad Fiesta Texas and Magic Mountain ended up at least getting Superman and X2 beforehand.
Yea
Yoooo this is crazy. I've talked about a wooden invert like nearly a decade ago. I always thought the support structure would look weird. I was right.
13:58 Or the Movies
Gyro would’ve been perfect for something at universal for Islands of Adventure.
The stratosphere scared me so much that no one could convince me to leave the inner wall...
You are by far the best coaster youtuber when it comes to pronouncing German park and coaster names! :D
There was once a concept for an execution coaster. The coaster would send riders through ever shrinking loops that would kill them in a state of euphoria.
Some of these, especially the gyrocoaster, definitely smack of the desire to create the next X.
I actually invested in the Orlando Polercoaster! Only a small amount of money but it sounded so cool. I got my money back because they canned the whole project before it got anywhere because the first round of funding didn't meet its goal.
Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Over Georgia appears at 4:47!
Phantasialand was orriginaly planned for an Intamin Bobsled coaster for 1995 the project was later cancelled and replaced by Colorado Adventure in 1996
That's right.
S&S sure do love their spinning/flipping/rolling trains.
This Channel Is Like Those GP Videos About Roller coasters but its made by a coaster enthusiast
2:43 this is even beter than axis
You forgot to mention that the Figure 8 loop makes an appearance in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. However, rather than appearing on the Looping Roller Coaster as it would’ve in real life, it appears on the Hyper Coaster.
Cool video.
Has there ever been a maglev type concept, where the cars float on air?
Arrow definitely made coasters with terrible lifespans but you gotta admit they had the most innovative concepts ever IMO.
Which is why S&S should not be letting those concepts gather dust - if they have the rights to use 'em, they should see if there's a way to make them work for real!
Gordon Taylor They would probably have to get a say so from the Goat of roller coasters himself Alan silkike
The figure 8 loop is in rollercoaster tycoon three (and maybe planet coaster. I don’t play it)
you know you are old when a cd-rom is 'vintage' :(
What’s funny about the Strat is that’s the part of town it’s in is one of the worst of Las Vegas where property value is the lowest for residences.
9:50 RCT3 has that Figure 8 loop element in the Arrow Hypercoaster ride
