Sheikra is the best dive coaster. It's the whole package. Landscaping, a tunnel, an inversion, trees, near misses, the smell of ribs, no floor, views of Tampa bay, loose restraints, the best colors, a splashdown, two helixes, and you already know the best part.
I have aunts that still talk about how scary it was to "Go on Shakira". I correct them every time, but it will always be "Shakira" in our family, lol. Loved this episode and the memories of when this coaster first opened. And omg, I saw that animal costume revue thing in person so long ago, I died seeing that footage. Brilliant, hilarious use of it, I literally lol'ed.
With how amazing steel vengeance is, im also excited for rmc gwazi. I havent been to busch gardens tampa since 99 or 00 due to going to disney or universal on florida trips since than, but with all the recent coasters, not to mention rmc gwazi, i am going to make a point to go to busch gardens on my next florida trip.... whenever that is lol.
Born and raised an hour south of tampa. Ridden this ride more times than I can count. My favorite ever experience riding it though was at Howl-O-Scream back in 2011. That year, instead of specific scarezones they had random roving hordes of zombies. We were hanging at the top before the Sheikra drop (at like 1 AM) and as we drop, all of a sudden, a shit ton of zombies run out of their backstage area so it looks like we are rushing down to meet them. I sincerely doubt it was synched on purpose, but it was amazing
They really do, I have an annual pass for the parks and my brother says that the reason why the Mako's lines are always short is because people are to scared to ride, so they'll just stand around at the entry😂
This was my first ever “big” rollercoaster I’ve ever ridden and my father decided to sit in the front row ;-; needless to say I started screaming as soon as the gates open..
I love this coaster so much. I'm an absolute coaster junkie but hadn't been on too many huge ones when I first went to Florida in 2009. Disneyland Paris was the most thrilling I'd experienced. I walked up to SheiKra and although there was no doubt I was going on... I still felt sick. But then I couldn't get enough!
I didn't know it wasn't originally floorless until I googled it, I thought it was always floorless. turns out the floor went away because of how popular Griffon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg was.
SheiKra was my first dive coaster, and I loved it! It's neck-and-neck with Valravn for me, but Yukon Striker is now my favorite dive coaster. I'm still able to get just as good airtime with the vest restraints, plus those vests eliminate any possibility of headbanging. SheiKra didn't give me any headbanging, but Griffon did.
@@ExpeditionThemePark I had an amazing time in Japan! I haven't even looked at any of the footage I recorded yet. I may start editing sometime this weekend. I have so much to go through. It's going to be fun. Ha ha.
I went to busch gardens tampa as part of my middle school's senior field trip, so we got to ride shiekra at night. The view was even better at night, especially since it was there was a clear sky. I jokingly quipped to my friends "what a beautiful night to die" and accidentally timed it perfectly to right before the fall. Its a night I will always remember.
I visited BGT for the first time in January 2005. The Stanley Falls Flume broke down on us just before the first drop, and we had to be evaced from the ride. To get back to the park, we had to go through Sheikra's construction site, and that was one of the coolest things I got to experience in my early coaster-riding years. We returned to the park later that year and got our ride on Sheikra. Back when it was the only dive coaster in the US, it truly felt like nothing else out there.
Oh, I know without a doubt that if I loved Griffon (the only Dive I have ever rode,) I’m going to absolutely love Sheikra when we move to Orlando. But you gotta admit, Griff has the better views. Absolutely stunning up there. I’m so excited to visit Tampa Busch Gardens. Thank you so so so very much for tour videos. They’re put so well together.
as someone who's home park is six flags great adventure, i can honestly say that busch gardens tampa is my all-time favorite park (i haven't been to cedar point yet).. the coasters at BGT are a good mix and i highly love the theming. SheiKra was my first dive coaster. i was HOOKED the second i got to the top and just looked down. Great coaster. Great collection of coasters at the park.
One of (if not my absolute favorite) RUclips channels. I appreciate the effort you put into these vids SO much. Thank you for being such a rad person and such an awesome channel!!!
I remember when this came out it was mind blowing to my child brain. I have to say riding it during Howloscream at night is the best way to experience it! With all the lights it just makes for a cool ride
My aunt lives in Tampa. So I’ve enjoyed a few rides on ShieKra. Amazing ride. You all are so lucky to have this and all of the coasters so close to you.
Been subbed for a long time and each video keeps me asking for more. An interesting takeaway from this: Griffon is floorless because the rows are 10 seats across. SheiKra is only 8. To compensate, B&M decided the best way to allow for the heavier trains would be to remove the floor on Griffon. Source: I work at BGW, specifically in the tours department.
Someone emailed Busch Gardens asking "when will a new coaster be added? It been too long." lol I wonder where that e-mail came from, and who had the guts to do it.
This definitely is a solid ride and is one of the best BG Tampa has to offer. There's also almost NEVER a wait for it since they can load many people at one time.
Great video and history. Of the 3 dive coasters I've had the pleasure to ride SheiKra is my favorite! I've been on Valravn and Griffon as well. I've had many more rides on Griffon due to my location, but SheiKra is a superior ride in my opinion! Thanx for video
so late to commenting but i remember when this first came out, me and my parents rode it opening day! i was 8 or 9 and i was absolutely petrified!! but it had me hooked from the jump. it's so nostalgic for me to watch this video and i'm so glad you're covering it. nothing ever cool happens in tampa and when shiekra was announced and watching all the commercials on t.v., it felt kind of special to have it there in florida, it was finally something interesting happening in tampa.
John Theo it wasn’t going to reopen for the longest time but bush gardens was able to get rmc on board to make iron gwazi which is going to be the best
Hey I’ve been recently getting into these vids. love them and it’s also gotten me into Disney info as well. Literally the first time I’ve watched a new video, I’m like a time traveling subscriber lol
I love this coaster! I rode it for the first time a couple of years ago and it was one of the smoothest, most comfortable rides I've ever experienced on a coaster.
I remeber following the construction progress closely . I made mom buy us annual passes and went a few days after the ride opened and was amazed by the sheer size, i was already a coaster enthusiast but this ride catapulted me to obsessed over them.
me, my mom, and a few friends of mine did that with Busch Gardens Williamsburg new upcoming ride Panetheon, I didn't keep up fully but whenever my friend found new info in regards to when it might open or safety tests, he asks his mom to send the information to me and my mom because we all like roller coasters.
So I love your videos. Watching them with RUclips captions on has me cracking up. They don't really understand your accent (which I love! Not making fun at all 💜) keep up the quality content. ❤
Was binging through the channel I was surprised to see this ride- this coaster actually made me a coaster fan! I was a kid absolutely terrified of heights when my oldest sibling basically bullied me into riding this, and I was scared to death the whole way up. Once the drop hit, however, I was hooked for life. I still have crippling acrophobia tho, I just learned to close my eyes on the lift hills LMAO
Just visited BG Williamsburg for the first time yesterday and I couldn't bring myself to ride Griffon 😅 I gotta say I did enjoy Verbolten. So great to see the history of this ride. Keep up the great work.
Its cool to see you mention a ride I actually rode The Griffin was the 2nd roller coaster I ever rode back when I was on a overnight trip in 5th grade I haven't been to Bush Gardens sense.
Sheikra is a fantastic coaster, rode in twice in quick succession when I was in Florida in 2005/6 can't remember specifically but again an unreal coaster!
@sliver sonic gacha and more Mako at SeaWorld San Diego is going to be a B&M Dive Coaster, not a B&M Hyper Coaster. That said, Mako at Orlando is amazing.
Went on this a few weeks back and it's probably 3rd or 4th best in the park. It's an intense ride and the drops are very scary. Ride itself is pretty smooth but it was over pretty fast.
I distinctly remember waiting 2 hours in line for Griffon just to ride in the front row in 2008. WORTH IT as it's the only dive coaster I've ever been on
i’m meant to be packing for a holiday in 3 days but oh well, this is far more interesting! never been to America at all but would love to go just to go to the theme parks. I’ve been to Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the much smaller West Midlands Safari Park, but based on videos, none of them seem to compare to American theme parks. Great video, love the channel! :) :)
13:14 This isn’t about the video itself, just that cheetah hunt advertising was straight up false. Even if they meant multilaunch coaster, the mummy at universal still has 2 launches
Great Video!! Shiekra is my favorite rollercoaster out there. I have riden it so many times. My sister in law was scared of rollercoasters then I made her go on Shiekra and she fell in love. I cant wait for gwazi 2.0 :)
I remember when SheiKra was opened, it was so incredibly popular. Today, there's barely a wait. Also cool story, that guy Mark spoke at my Engineering Capstone Design class as I went to University of South Florida, right across the street from the park.
My mom lives near Tampa and I went to Busch Gardens for the first time this holiday season. As a long-time Disney/Universal fan -- there are some TERRIFIC rides at Busch Gardens, though they're not in the same league in terms of general theming -- and their queue management is laughably lax compared to Disney/Uni!!! Got to the end of a line and a crew member waved me through -- I stopped and asked which row I needed to go on, he says, "Whichever you want." At Disney/Uni, it's like a military operation; Busch Gardens feels more like a big playground.
Fun fact from a local (me) that went opening week: Sheikra was nearly delayed, however Bush Gardens chose to open the ride without any of the queue railings installed on the ground floor, and having Temporary plastic barricades making up the queue instead
The music at 14:11 reminds me of the music they play in Carousel of Progress where the kid uses the viewscope to watch the girl do the hootchie cootchie
I love the Griffin! I ride it over and over when my family goes down to Williamsburg. The best ride I've had on it though was a husband that was freaking out while waiting to drop because his wife made them sit up front. I couldn't even be scared I was laughing too hard.
Sheikra is the best dive coaster. It's the whole package. Landscaping, a tunnel, an inversion, trees, near misses, the smell of ribs, no floor, views of Tampa bay, loose restraints, the best colors, a splashdown, two helixes, and you already know the best part.

0:45 That's a really weird production of Cats! I betcha this is what inspired the look of the Cats in the movie.
I have aunts that still talk about how scary it was to "Go on Shakira". I correct them every time, but it will always be "Shakira" in our family, lol.

Oh my god. My mom is determined to call Shakira even though it is quite obviously SheiKra. lol
"Its time for Africa" (Busch Gardens Africa)
Welcome to the waka coaster
Tf bro wants to ride Shakira 🤨📸
I still misspell it on purpose to this day. XD
In Deep Voice:
200 feet up
90 Degrees
Straight Down
Sheikra, only way down is straight down
Unless the ride breaks down then it’s about a 45 degree angle down.

An intense coaster. My favorite Busch Gardens is Tampa. Love the African theming

@John Lorton Since Oblivion was built... They were always intense. Not as intense as lets say B&M inverted coasters but still intense
