- Carrie Clark's beloved cat, Gelena, vanished from her home in Utah. Clark and her husband, Matt, searched everywhere. Six days later, just when they were losing hope, the couple received a stunning phone call. Gelena was found in a box at an Amazon Return Center, 650 miles away in Riverside, California. It turns out, the beloved cat had hidden in an Amazon box that was filled with shoe returns.
Rule of thumb: you got a cat , you got a box. The cat will be in the box, always check it first and before you tape it.
I never owned a cat and even I’m smart enough to know this 🤦♂️

My cat went missing and I felt like I lost my child I started going crazy on everybody and my blood was boiling until a couple other people also helped me search and we eventually found them I don’t know what kind of relation these people have with their cat but for mine it’s till death do us apart

There was no “small hole”. Have you ever taped a box? Two flaps and one strip of tape. A fart would pass through without any issue.

That's what I don't understand. If not the owners then surely one of the mailmen or someone down the line would have noticed? I mean I doubt the cat would have remained silent the entire time.

Some cats will not meow. I read an article once that suggested if an outdoor cat was missing, that a neighbor might have closed the door to a garage or shed while the cat was inside. It warned that many cats would not call out. It told of cases such as someone walking feet from where their cat was, calling it, and the cat only being found a couple of days later when the neighbor opened it again. I've also had cats that were silent meowers, or very quiet
My cat only meowed when she was in heat, get hurt or when i bathe her. Even then her meowing is really quiet.
And nobody noticed a kitty in box for 120 hours ?

Good lesson to pay more attention. One quick check before sealing the box would have prevented this.
How did they not see the Cat when they were sealing the Box ? Cats cannot hide underneath boxes of shoes. this doesn't even make sense.

The dude, of course. And I agree. They KNEW the cat just ALWAYS LOVES boxes so this is completely irresponsible pet ownership.
He’s probably one of those guys that was too busy playing video games and rushed out before the post office closed and barely even taped the box up properly and that’s why the box had a hole and the cat could breath. It was probably the first and last time his wife/gf asked him to help out with something. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t her cat from the start and he always had mom or dad sending his packages.

Poor baby.....I can understand how it happens. I was cooking one night and sat down to relax after dinner. I kept hear a strange noise in the kitchen, went in there looked around and saw nothing.....repeat two more times. After hearing it one more time, I opened the refrigerator and there was my cat, Charlie, sitting on the shelf next to the milk! Since I was home alone, the little weirdo must have jumped in there while I was getting ingredients out to cook.😺

This is odd i don't believe that happened no way you take a box to ship with out noticing a cat in the box fighting to get out they should be charged
I had a big tomcat that got locked in a neighbor's garage. Not the same as a box but he just sat by the door waiting to get out. He lived to 23.
I shudder to think how this little one could have ended up dead from so many factors. I'm so glad she's comfortably back home! 😊❤

My cat hides in boxes often, I’d roam around the house calling for her and then find her in different boxes. So I get how this would’ve happened. My cat rarely meows. So I wouldn’t even know how to find her. Just search thoroughly I guess
Mine loves closets and under furniture for nap times. Our tom cat pesters her so when she wants peace, she finds a closet or under a chair.

I agree....let's see, an unusually beautiful cat somehow gets sealed in box, super cute "cat missing" signs go up all over the neighborhood, the box just happens to have a hole in it, cat shows up at Amazon Returns, "someone" contacts the news about this crazy story, and owners get on national television with the unusually beautiful cat. Nobody could possibly orchestrate something like this to get their 15 minutes of fame, could they?

Do you calculate how many boxes of shoes weigh? Beside that cat was not 10 pounds. Our female cat weights 7. Our other female cat that passed weighed 6.

That’s an adorable calico and she was definitely a fighter surviving 6 days but I’m surprised how healthy she is if I could ever adopt a cat I would want a calico definitely one of my favorite top 5 breeds

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad she survived and was reunited! Thank heavens for that little air hole, that nice Amazon lady, and cats having 9 lives! Most cat owners know the easiest way to catch a cat is simply to leave a box out, but hopefully we can all learn a lesson here not to leave the return boxes open and double check before you seal them! 📦🐈

I have 2 cats, I have questions:
While this box was in transit for SIX DAYS, did no one notice earlier:
A "meowing" sound?
The box moving on it's own (no matter how tight, the cat's gonna struggle to get out over a SIX DAY period, it's gonna be hungry, thirsty and very scared).
"Fortunately, there was a small hole."
That cat would have been terrified, it would have urinated immediately!! Cat urine is STRONG! add 💩 to that and you're saying NO ONE noticed the smell? Especially if there's a hole to release that smell? and (again) unless this is the most "chill" cat ever, it would have been meowing.
I honestly NEVER say "FAKE!!" but having cats myself, this is kinda hard to believe.

Cats can be quite mischievous, so it's not unbelievable that this happened. I, too, had a cat that LOVED boxes. It's obvious that this cat is very loved so I'm glad they were reunited. 💓
May I ask how you pick up a box and not notice 1) it is heavier than expected, 2) moves? The utter lack of awareness of this owner is astounding.

Honestly it's true. I always double check my dryer, I even walk around the house to make sure I see all the cats before turning it on.

That's a good story. Just a friendly reminder to always check what's in your dryer before running it, because it's sadly not a joke. Keep boxes high off the ground, closed, or flattened when not in use. That poor cat, but it got lucky. Love the woman who heard the cat.
