I spent 12 years taming a stray kitten that lived in my yard. She finally let me pet her and even climbed into my lap a few times during the 13th and last year of her life. It was worth every second.
I'm going through this right now with a cat I've named CowCat. We started out where he wouldn't come within a hundred yards of me. Now, he will share the deck with me. He pets me, but if I try to pet him, he may take a piece of meat out of my hand. We are making progress, but I'm not sure where we will go with this. He prefers to be outside, and I'm not sure I want him in the house. I think he's turned himself into a guard cat, keeping other forms of unsavory wildlife away. I don't see scat in my yard any longer while he's around. I'm a dog person, so CowCat has to train both me and Henry (my dog) in the ways of the cat. It's been an interesting challenge.

Two and a half years ago I picked up two female rescue cats from a shelter. I picked out a 6 1/2 year old female and a 2 1/2 year old tiny female picked me out. I was only going to get one but the little 2 1/2 yr old just wouldn't leave me alone while I was at the shelter. At first I didn't want such a young cat being 69 yrs old but in the end I brought her home too. When I get a visitor she always hisses at them as she only wants me & doesn't trust anyone else at all.......I guess we're cuddle buddies forever!!
This is exactly how it was with my orange boy! It took me 6 months to get him to trust me and come inside. We had 9 beautiful, loving years together. ❤ I’m so grateful he found me.

I love that you featured Lex and Cinnabon! Lex had to be very patient to earn Cinnabon’s trust, but it was worth it. He now has a safe home, good food, medical care when needed, and a loving cat dad and grandma. Yes, Lex’s mom spoils Cinnabon too.

Yes, Lex had said in a video that Cinnabon had been abandoned by his human family cause they possibly moved away when Cinnabon was outside. I feel that if Cinnabon was outside and still a family cat and his human family never tried to find him it means they didn’t want him anymore. So, it’s their loss and Lex’s gain. Also for that, Cinnabon has a much better and spoiled life which is how it should be.🥰😺❤️👍🏻
Cinnabon has a tipped ear, which means he was trap-neuter-released. Also they believe he was a young cat when he found Lex. One theory is that he was a barn kitten who ran away or got lost.
I've done similar. Daily fed a homeless cat, eventually earned his trust, and eventually adopted him. It took him awhile for him to adjust, which I understood and was patient. The vet checked him out and he received a clean bill of health, fortunately. He's now my happy adopted cat. Homeless cats don't always know they need saving. Once you do, they're so appreciative and sweet. Life on the streets is pretty tough for them. They need human assistance to successfully survive.

I’m sure someone mentioned it already in the 430 comments before me, but the clipped ear indicates that he was deemed feral at some point in his life, was trapped, neutered and released. He certainly has learned to trust humans now and he’s living a wonderful life!
The ear is a sign of TNR, but that is more often done to "friendly" stray or abandoned cats (who are more likely to be reported and easier to catch) than true ferals. A true feral is wild! I've TNRed a few and even had a couple get loose in a room. Yikes! Cin was scared, wary of trusting a human as he'd probably been let down, but now he has a loving home and 100k followers!
That is such a lovely story. And what a difference in his appearance from a starving, frightened cat to a gorgeous creature! Such a transformation both physically and emotionally. And you're a lovely man for having such patience and understanding.

He did such a great job winning over this cat- I spent ten years volunteering and helping to tame feral cats, and he did an amazing job, balancing caring and patience so well.
I have been following Cinnabon (I refer to him as The Bon) and Alex since the Pandemic. It has been a wonderful adventure ! Cinnabon picked Alex, they are very bonded and it is truly heartwarming ! This was a random video on my feed - great to see them !
Not seen Cinnabon for years. When the Pandemic struck (March 2020) there were suddenly no more videos on RUclips. Not here in the UK at least. Lots of other kitty and doggie sites to follow though..🐈⬛️🐈🐶🐕 Lovely to see Cinnabon still thriving and being loved by Alex..😊 Greetings from Scotland..xx 🏴
I was very lucky with my 2nd cat. He was a cute stray cat in the backyard of my home when I was 11 years old. It was late September 1981. He was scared at me at first meeting. He came out of hiding for a few minutes of talking to him. He started to cuddled with me. He was the sweetest cat ever. He did instantly bonded with me from the start. He spent overnight on the door mat next to the patio door. I think both of my parents laughed in seeing him sleeping. Even my sister was the 2nd person that came contact with him. The same with both of my parents,too. It took a month and a half to finally adopted him inside of our home. My mother fell in loved with him for being a big sweetie. I did name him Roughneck when he was a stray cat. My mother shortened it towards Ruffy for being a big sweetie. That name was stuck towards him. Even our 1st cat became friends with him,too. Ruffy was more than my cat a little bit over 12 years of friendship. It was kind of my fault in 1st meeting him. He was very sweet and friendly cat that was very gentle in nature. He did acted liked a dog,too. He was a big American shorthair red tabby cat. To me he was my best friend. I never had another cat that didn’t acted liked him. He was one of a kind cat.

I've been subscribed to Alex's channel for a few years now - he and Cinnabon are quite the pair, aren't they?! Their story is just so wholesome, and when we see so many grim things happening around us, this tale is a reminder of the best that can happen. When a ginger cat chooses you you get a real buddy, I fed an abandoned ginger and he hung around for 8 years, but he did wander and one day he just didn't come back, never found out what had happened but he had food shelter and a friend for the time he spent with me.
Looks like you both needed each other. I'm so glad you were patient and kind to Cinnabon. Orange kitties are especially affectionate and I'm glad he came around. Here's wishing a long and happy life to both of you. 😺

I DID THIS ONCE WITH A FERAL CAT. IT TOOK ME A YEAR BUT I GOT HER AND HAD HER FOR 23 WONDERFUL YEARS BEFORE I HAD TO PUT HER DOWN. AT THE VET'S I HELD HER THE ENTIRE TIME, EVEN THOUGH I CRIED MY EYES OUT. I LOST MY BFF THAT DAY

I spent 12 years taming a stray kitten that lived in my yard. She finally let me pet her and even climbed into my lap a few times during the 13th and last year of her life. It was worth every second.

I have 3 cats born in my home from a feral mom and they still don't let me pet them. It's been my wish for 14 years and still on. I know the feeling.
I'm going through this right now with a cat I've named CowCat. We started out where he wouldn't come within a hundred yards of me. Now, he will share the deck with me. He pets me, but if I try to pet him, he may take a piece of meat out of my hand. We are making progress, but I'm not sure where we will go with this. He prefers to be outside, and I'm not sure I want him in the house. I think he's turned himself into a guard cat, keeping other forms of unsavory wildlife away. I don't see scat in my yard any longer while he's around. I'm a dog person, so CowCat has to train both me and Henry (my dog) in the ways of the cat. It's been an interesting challenge.

Three months ago a feral showed up on my ranch. As I gained her trust she became very affectionate. During the day she hangs out in the hay barn. 😺

Two and a half years ago I picked up two female rescue cats from a shelter. I picked out a 6 1/2 year old female and a 2 1/2 year old tiny female picked me out. I was only going to get one but the little 2 1/2 yr old just wouldn't leave me alone while I was at the shelter. At first I didn't want such a young cat being 69 yrs old but in the end I brought her home too. When I get a visitor she always hisses at them as she only wants me & doesn't trust anyone else at all.......I guess we're cuddle buddies forever!!

This is exactly how it was with my orange boy! It took me 6 months to get him to trust me and come inside. We had 9 beautiful, loving years together. ❤ I’m so grateful he found me.

Yes, Lex had said in a video that Cinnabon had been abandoned by his human family cause they possibly moved away when Cinnabon was outside. I feel that if Cinnabon was outside and still a family cat and his human family never tried to find him it means they didn’t want him anymore. So, it’s their loss and Lex’s gain. Also for that, Cinnabon has a much better and spoiled life which is how it should be.🥰😺❤️👍🏻

Cinnabon has a tipped ear, which means he was trap-neuter-released. Also they believe he was a young cat when he found Lex. One theory is that he was a barn kitten who ran away or got lost.

I've done similar. Daily fed a homeless cat, eventually earned his trust, and eventually adopted him. It took him awhile for him to adjust, which I understood and was patient. The vet checked him out and he received a clean bill of health, fortunately. He's now my happy adopted cat. Homeless cats don't always know they need saving. Once you do, they're so appreciative and sweet. Life on the streets is pretty tough for them. They need human assistance to successfully survive.

I’m sure someone mentioned it already in the 430 comments before me, but the clipped ear indicates that he was deemed feral at some point in his life, was trapped, neutered and released. He certainly has learned to trust humans now and he’s living a wonderful life!
The ear is a sign of TNR, but that is more often done to "friendly" stray or abandoned cats (who are more likely to be reported and easier to catch) than true ferals. A true feral is wild! I've TNRed a few and even had a couple get loose in a room. Yikes! Cin was scared, wary of trusting a human as he'd probably been let down, but now he has a loving home and 100k followers!
My 2 cats have tipped ears bc the vet thought they were going to be released. I'm TERRIFIED they'll get out bc no one would ever try to catch them. 😢

I was very lucky with my 2nd cat. He was a cute stray cat in the backyard of my home when I was 11 years old. It was late September 1981. He was scared at me at first meeting. He came out of hiding for a few minutes of talking to him. He started to cuddled with me. He was the sweetest cat ever. He did instantly bonded with me from the start. He spent overnight on the door mat next to the patio door. I think both of my parents laughed in seeing him sleeping. Even my sister was the 2nd person that came contact with him. The same with both of my parents,too. It took a month and a half to finally adopted him inside of our home. My mother fell in loved with him for being a big sweetie. I did name him Roughneck when he was a stray cat. My mother shortened it towards Ruffy for being a big sweetie. That name was stuck towards him. Even our 1st cat became friends with him,too. Ruffy was more than my cat a little bit over 12 years of friendship. It was kind of my fault in 1st meeting him. He was very sweet and friendly cat that was very gentle in nature. He did acted liked a dog,too. He was a big American shorthair red tabby cat. To me he was my best friend. I never had another cat that didn’t acted liked him. He was one of a kind cat.

When a ginger cat chooses you you get a real buddy, I fed an abandoned ginger and he hung around for 8 years, but he did wander and one day he just didn't come back, never found out what had happened but he had food shelter and a friend for the time he spent with me.
Looks like you both needed each other. I'm so glad you were patient and kind to Cinnabon. Orange kitties are especially affectionate and I'm glad he came around. Here's wishing a long and happy life to both of you. 😺
