How refreshing to listen to a politician that knows what he is talking about. He’s 100% correct. We just need to push forward. If you wait for this Government that has done nothing in 15 years; good luck.

What a breath of fresh air from our new mayor. Bold decisive and innovative. Only this type of attitude and action can save us from total destruction.

Totally agree. Energy is the life force of the world. If the government can't provide it as per their mandate to do so, then don't wait for their "permission". Just get busy making it happen and they can learn from your example. Well done!

Same happened with WiFi. Finally, there were so many "illegal" WiFi routers around that they just had to release it.

Why are our unemployment figures not used in a similar way to address the economic harm BBBEE policy (as it's applied) is doing to our (Western Cape) economy?

South Africa is being held hostage by Eskom, its Employees and its mismanagement. This initiative is what all SAs should support -a state of emergency should be declared regarding the power crises so we can force issues to be dealt with at legislative level, especially red-tape issues

Section 34 is only applicable if government has an equal or better solution. They don’t. They have nothing to bring to the party; so they are not invited. Manufacturing is rapidly loosing critical mass, and if not addressed immediately (with the coming electrification of transport) large scale manufacturing will disappear. Completely. The nursery where “Real Skills” are developed (which supports the rest of society) will be gone. How will we train our budding artisans and engineers. We do not want a nation of salesmen in suits and ties, but rather a nation of creative Individuals, creating Insane products, that we are “willing” to give our cash. Ideology destroys creativity. Consensus destroys creativity. This brand of ideological stupidity where officials expect handouts and KFC putinyana’s is now done. . Section 34 is an excuse to pour sand into the economical gearbox and must be atomized. No more talking gentlemen. Municipalities stand the most to benefit Like Vietnam “BLACKOUTS “ can be sent to the bin with the ideological half wits.

Add a geyser controller made in South Africa by Microcare to every home in Cape Town, fix their electricity rate for heating their geyser for 10 years. A financial win for the city at a 25% ROI, an absolute win for the consumer and a 30% load saving on residential use.

You should be very careful not to promote devolution of implementation powers and not negotiate a comparable reduction in the national budget.
