We in Knysna are living the consequences of an ANC municipality. The overflowing sewerage, potholes, disfunctional rubbish collection and wasteful expenditure.
So sad such a beautiful town being destroyed by corrupt politicians. This is a toxic coalition of ANC, EFF and PA. This bunch of miscreants that have killed, tourism the main income earner and providing many jobs in the hospitality industry. Let's hope the voters wake up and smell the surage and vote for someone else that has a history of service delivery.
The issue with the pipeline was whether the mayor consulted the coalition partners. According to Dr Mulder the mayor took it on himself to make the decision. Had he consulted, the coalition partners may well have reached the same conclusion.
Mulder said the mayor, when he could not get approval from his coalition partners, turned to the ANC to push it through and left them out of the loop, not something acceptable to the partners. But somewhere there is a disconnect here since prior to the approval of such a development, all services and their locations would be known to the developer and only if the development was approved and subsequently it was found that the Municipality had given incorrect information would they be liable for the R3.1m cost. Another reason might be that because it is such an alleged large development, the downstream pipes needs to be larger which are outside of the development that would need to be replaced, should then be for the Municipality's account. It not only seem to be the opinion of Mulder that he was ridden over roughshod, but the rest of the coalition too. Communication and agreeableness seemed to be at at a low ebb and so soon in the newly formed coalition. One wonders why Mulder would get upset - either he is frustrated by ligitmate concerns like being relegated to the back seats although being a full partner of the coalition or/and the FF+ shrinkage of party. Burke is smooth. Respect and all that to Mulder in the beginning but then proceed to methodically break down Mulder and the FF+ He has only been in Oudthoorn two weeks and would know very little of the frustrations of the coalition (or rather ex-coalition) and can only defend the Mayor by the DA's recuitment process. Whatever the case, the DA should be careful how they treat smaller parties in coalitions because if more of this happens elsewhere, I am nor longer voting for them. We are sick and tired of strongarm politics and all things must be considered carefully, not only have their door open for investors, but firstly their coaltion partners.

Absolutely ridiculous and pious of them to think they are the arbiters of competence...the DA will decline watch theh will lose the coloured and black vote that props them to 20%.. the DA sits in a corner self mutilating itself unprovoked..
For all the years this nit picking between partys has been going on!!! When are the smaller partys going to stop this nonsense and stand together so that we can all start to LIVE again?????
The parties in alliance is not leash dogs to be dragged along. Consultation! Don't follow the ANC who regard the other parties as guests
Thanks Alec. As usual short and swret getting to the heart of key issues. Inching our way towards a combined focus on municipal delivery. Well done.
DA is being disingenuous 😂
And so is FF+, flip floppers!!
@user-vl1mq7ww5n a different perspective... the ppl have spoken in the elections. The politicians need to work together, put SA first even if working with different parties never dreamt would before. SA first no place for no team work.
Well done eff+ for being flexible.

Well done eff+ for being flexible.
Both are being disingenuous with this situation so far as I'm concerned.
FF is becoming like the eff now,it's about them and not the citizens they are so confused, and starting to show there real colors.
FF is trying to stay relevant
Will never vote for FF again
So disappointed in the VF +!!
Always thought that they were a reliable and trustworthy political party with the best interests of SA at heart!
Why would the FF do something so stupid look where the DA is running the mun very well run.
Living in Oudtshoorn and the DA failed us👎
The DA difference is clearly visible where the DA governs with a strong mandate or an outright majority.
Just look at the progress being made by Mayor Chris Pappas of uMngeni Municipality in KZN together with his Deputy Mayor, Sandile Mnikathi.
There is even an Arte tv Documentary about them on RUclips!
How ?
Well the end of ff is in sight.
Still prefer the afrikaner more than the English they are honest what you see it's what you get no pretense pity people don't understand them far better than your DA
What are you trying to prove. Sour grapes after the elections
Let the ANC in the back door for the sake of R3.1 bar what a joke FF+
As a property developer I can tell you now that if a municipality is willing to move a servitude at their cost it smells like corruption
The DA needs to get rid of Helen Zille. She is a problem and unpleasant.
Totally agree with you!!!
Really, can you do better than her!! The mind boggles!!
You must understand that politicians are driven mostly by ego and greed. I don't think Helen can be accused of greed, but she is a politician, with a rather large ego. It would be best if she just stopped talking for a few years.
@@RobertEarlMylroie Why does your mind boggle?
@@RobertEarlMylroie the ANC is so bad anybody with a bit of common sense can do better than them and the same applies to Helen Zille as she is at the other of the scale as the ANC. The DA’s logic is something like, “ because the ANC is so pathetic (which they are) it bestows upon the DA a divine right to bluntly impose their will and repulsive arrogance on everyone else ‘cause people must be grateful that they’re saving them from the ANC
I voted for DA but they need to start negotiating in good faith in their coalitions and stop being so arrogant by forcing their agendas. They have already lost Oudshoorn by refusing replace their unreasonable dictatorial mayor with another from their party behaving like a spoiled brat.
Agree. It's all about behind the scenes lobbying and brown envelopes changing hands. Developer shouldh've factored the pipeline into their equation or choose another site. Corne is 100% clear and on point and above all: TRANSPARENT.
Nothing substantive shared by the guest.
So that statement starting at around the 8:43 mark, is pure gaslighting, pure nonsensical pollical jargon. You have been trained well young padawan ;)
Folks, like the ANC & EFF, you need to investigate who funds the DA!
Something tells me the developer might have been a funder

@ForeverYoung-qz2if Well a man by the name of George Soros (part of the NWO Globalists & a very prominent member of Herr Klaus Schwab's World Economic Forum (W.E.F.) has met all ANC Presidents since 1994 & Bill Gates & Melinda Gates Foundation also part of the N.W.O. Globalists & W.E.F. have contributed to the DA according to a 2021 report!
@ForeverYoung-qz2if one of the most evil men I know of as he is pure evil - Bill Gates - very much part of NWO Globalists & World Economic Forum & a full Financial supported of the WHO & Pfizer!
Developers want to make money but they don't want to pay for infrastructure upgrades. Why must the council aka tax payers pay for the changes that will be financially benefitting the developer? All councils need to start making developers pay for upgrades needed to accommodate services for new developments as our systems weren't built to accommodate so many people in such small areas.. there is constantly sewerage issues and water pressure issues now that these "sites for sore eyes" have shot up everywhere.
Yep this guy is all talk very little fact. Sorry listened to both sides and the DA are going to blow it !!!!
Why??? Cos he's a youngster?? We need new thought input. Can't just rely on the old guard.
@@carolecurley7744if he’s spewing hogwash, regardless of age, it remains hogwash. Unless the DA gets rid of their arrogance and Helen Zille it will lose the Western Cape if not in 2026 then thereafter. Inspite of the ANC’s abject failure and unparalleled corruption the DA has remained stagnant, having increased and decreased marginally (May 2024 elections), nationally and in the WC respectively.
Dear Mr Hogg, there is another place where “you do it my way or you take the highway” is Hermanus, where the Mayor Apparently overruled the opposition to the building of an enormous LPG gas distribution facility too close to the industrial hub etc. The pictures of the gas tanker exploding in Joburg and the massive destruction and deaths also maiming many people in a very destructive radius around the BLEVE are fresh in many memories ! Maybe you should dig into that and find the evidence produced to declare that location safe to operate in all conditions with the required infrastructure to support a disaster should it arise ! The Hazloc reports should address all the pertinent issues around safe operation of such a facility and be reviewed independently!
Mulder has allways been a hard core Broerderbond, under cover A NC supporter
Dr Burke you clearly don't know the truth
@@paulettestammer1250 Clearly trying to twist it as can be seen on his face.
Dr Burke is very economical with the truth, makes you wonder what the new DA stands for
Possibly, but working with the ANC? Will they be better partners 😂. They should have resolved this behind closed doors.
@@TruthTeller908 Dr Burke and his colleague Mr McPherson the one with a problem here as we noted.
@@TruthTeller908they tried but the DA remained pigheaded and arrogant, and I’m not even a supporter of the FF+. They bent over backwards asking the DA for different mayoral candidate other than the incumbent whom they, the DA, sought to impose notwithstanding his numerous blunders costing the ratepayers and local residents.
FF and EFF will drop in 2029. In 2026 we as residents will show them how sick we are of these politicians
FF has problems of their own. Their topstructure is not what they want the public to know and see. Their days are numbered as well.
FF+ will be gone. They backstabbed one too many times. EFF wil merge with or swallow up MK
Resident ?what do u mean by that?
I agree
Are they getting into bed with the ANC?? What??
No. They are making the municipality work through coalitions. Means being mature and working through hard issues for the best of the ppl they serve.
The ppl at the election stated it clearly. We want results. All SA in leadership. No majorities.
@@andreaz3223 Voting out your Coalition partner's Mayor is definitely not being mature!!!
In Gauteng they just dump sewage into rivers, open fields and streets. Tswane is even worse. The Hennops river is now literally a sewage channel. Why doesn't the DA take the same stance in Tswane?
Hellen Zille in DA is like Julius Malema in EFF, they are going to destroy their parties with their arrogance
Dr Burke's interview is short on fact and he/ the DA has chosen this opportunity to "scare" the constituents with what might happen else where. Dr Mulder stated that the Da mayor went ahead before legal council's opinion was heard if I listened correctly to his interview. Why did the manager not agree with the mayor on the pipeline issue? This needs to be aired as well. In partingrs Zille made it clear that it is a coalition govt at national level, therefore the same must take place at the lowest level durely.
" we allocate constituencies to politicians ... based on their preference... " And this is "Democracy" ? I say this is nonsense ! A constituency should be represented in Parliament by a person living WITHIN that constituency. This arrogant, self-serving, wasteful, deceitful, populist and divisive political party system MUST be scrapped.
Your facts are not true
What are the facts?
@@AndrewMcFarlane_1listen to the interview with Corne Mulder and then you will hear the facts.
Politicians must plse remember that your most important task is to serve the people..political blustering, grandstanding is not what people need..they need cohesion, a definite direction and positive moves forward. So politicians must suck it up and get on with the job they are mean to do..SERVE!
I am so disappointed in Corne Mulder. Is he becoming another flip flopper? But it is a pleasure listening to the intelligence from this young gent. He is right in saying the DA put their candidates through good intense rigorous political training. Those that have left the DA to create their own parties or join other parties should be eternally grateful for their political grooming that they gained but sadly now use against the hand that fed them. Kudos to Mr. Macpherson for doing his job. May karma prevail. Knysna is a typical situation of ANC/PA destruction! People of Oudtshoorn must wake up and smell the coffee if they don't want another Knysna, Beaufort West or Gauteng situation! All those small parties in the MPC did not do enough to support the DA & help to bring it to 50+1. Voters must stop splitting the vote.
What utter hogwash! People appointed to lead communities should come from those communities. You can't tell me that there were no worthy people in a place as large as Oudtshoorn that an outsider had to be brought in. He obsfucates around each question before being brought back to the point. The DA has to work together with others - they didn't win the election. With this attitude, they are going to lose votes and municipalities in the upcoming election.
FF+ used to be a well respected party. Definitely no longer - they're too intertwined with the ANC. I sense some jealousy of the DA. Just my opinion.
Please inform us what development is being discussed? The R3.1m and I believe there is another dev also being funded by Muni? The DA wasn't listening to the ratepayers, therefore Karma !
How can anyone take this guy seriously in politics … he is clearly still in training …. although that arrogance is already there …
DA is putting young people into positions in an effort to make the electorate believe they represent the youth …
he makes a statement of how badly the FF+ did in the general elections … when the DA only increased by 1% as the Official Opposition !!!inexperience has spoken…. regardless of quoting Scott F Fitzgerald…
It wasn’t just the FF+ that had a problem with the arrogant mayor … it was all parties concerned … hence a vote of “no confidence”
Godzilla is obviously busy with some scheme, otherwise she would have replaced the corrupt mayor of Oudtshoorn. So, its okay to "save SA" but not "save Oudtshoorn"?
Wolf in sheeps clothing comes to mind.
This whole sanctimonious higher than thou attitude is what is going to be the downfall of the DA.
DA approach is always their way or the highway. This is going to bite them royally.
DA doesn't rate smaller parties and see them as a nuisance .
And so they should
This guy is conflating a lot of issues here. Trying to suggest the FF+'s national results is somehow having an effect on this municipality. Then, also raising the boogeyman that other municipalities may be at threat. He also doesn't answer the question properly that this is actually a coalition and therefore the mayor needs to consult, it's also all 3 other members of the coalition that had the same problem with the DA mayor making unilateral decisions without their input, and there are multiple circumstances. He's not impressing me with these bait and switch attempts.
Seems to me the VF did discuss the problem of the rigid ness of the mayor with the DA and they were like most politician ignored!!
His taking instructions...poor young man! Learn the hard way...stand-up and start crawling. Arrogance is sickening this country.. we find ourselves in! Doomsday is here...
It would be a very good thing when DA governance ends . They are very arrogant and condescending.
All these drs.... failing at municipal level . How sad is that
Every party is out for themselves in this country. Not one single party that truly cares for improving things. But when you look at SA’s history it’s always been that way, SA was set up for failure from the very beginning.
So if you vote FF or support rhem, you're out of your mind. They're fighting for survival, same as old NP. Not suitable for today's political upset!!!
The whole country is fighting for survival & I don't vote for the DA & never will!
All the parties are fighting for survival!
No different between NP and DA
@diepseunoconnell1466 Trouble is we are running out of parties to vote for!
I would like to see what the FF+ voters think of this when the next election comes around. Somehow I think the FF+ elected officials will suffer the consequences for being cocky with their flimsy portion of votes now. 😅
We have for years been an abused Nation 🇿🇦 Citizens...jealousy is a terrible emotion!! I would Never vote FF+..
After this....me never!
In SBM the FF also have the swing vote.
Where is the DA now? Is it maybe cos it's not the PA. Shows your disdain for Gayton.

Getting an ANC led municipality to govern well would be a great "triumph" (sorry, the ugly word will have to do, because a better one won't come to me). If that ANC municipality governed well enough to earn a further term in office, the people would win, yet again. It's hard to imagine this happening, but what a great day if it ever did!
