    New Tie Rod Set from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1ASF...
    1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, busted, bad, or damaged tie rod. Tie rods are essential to your vehicle. They often wear out over time and need to be inspected for safety. A bad tie rod will also cause your vehicle to fail inspection, and cause premature and uneven tire wear. We'll show you how to check for play and also replace your tie rods. This video is applicable to 2000-2007 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra models.

    i personally would have installed the inner tie rod end into the outer tie rod end then installed the inner tie rod end to the control arm, so i didnt have to fight the long threaded end/inner balljoint with a wrench the whole way. but you got the job done right the way you did it too.

    So the question is, how do you set the length between the inner and outer tie rod if the inner tie rod is bent all up? Can you just measure the other side?

    Thanks for posting this vid . I just found the same problem in my 2000 Silverado , the drivers side has just enough play to feel a bump when you move the tire. This will come in handy .

    I'm having a hell of a time trying to thread the end in. Jacked up the control arm and the stabalizer bar is still preventing me from getting a straight shot. Im about to set it on fire

      I had hell too. The solution is to remove the sway bar links on both sides until you've gotten the inner tie rods replaced, then put the sway bar links back.

    First off great video!!
    I ran into a problem. I replaced the passenger side without a problem, but the drivers side i cant get loose. Is it reverse thread?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  3 года назад

      +Yaremy I Thanks for watching! It should not be reverse thread for the opposite side, but since it is on the opposite side you will want to turn it the opposite direction!

    just need a big pipe wrench to remove the old one. I used a 1 1/2" claw with a 1/2" torque wrench to reinstall. skinny zip ties work the best for the inner rubber boot. Moving the rack side to side made it much easier to work on the inner tie rod end.

    As much as love the videos you should have changed the outer tie rod as well when it’s that easy to move it’s junk as well and that bar that the inner tie rod connects to is called the the sway bar

    What would be a fare amount of time to do this per side like 45min to 1 hr?

    Is that red thread locker on the tie rod threads? I'm trying to figure out what to use, and internet forums are all over the place on red, blue or none at all. I would use at least blue... is red what the factory uses? I had to use my big adjustable wrench and use my foot while laying under the truck to loosen the tie rod... if that's how strong red goes on I'd be alright using it, but if red is stronger than that I think I'd rather stick with blue.

      Blue is aslo strong little less than red but very strong still

      +Tony Thompson We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

    Great video, but you called out the torque of 70-80 ft lbs but didn’t use a torque wrench. Must be your calibrated biceps.

    And you don't actually use sized wrenches why?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 лет назад +2

      +Xmus Jaxon Flaxon Waxon The inner tie rod end bolt requires a specialized socket which may be rented at a local auto part store. We used the adjustable wrench to ensure that if you do not have this socket, the replacement may still be completed.
