Jason Yes he was decent back then and pretty influential but he stop practicing sometime in 90s any become really lousy drummer. I will give him a credit he helped create many heavy metal classics
A lot of Metallica fans go back and forth as to what their favorite album is. Master and Justice are often in that internal debate. One thing you will notice, all their albums are different. Some people hate it. Some love it. IMO, they're way too talented to limit themselves. (Which they haven't). People hate on Lars, but he invented this shit. He's not the best drummer in the world, but he's the best drummer to play behind James Hetfield. Other drummers would fuck up the songs by trying to show off every song instead of writing to serve the song. Which is what Lars does. Also, major props for recognizing how hard that riff is. Most guitarists can't play it note for note at album speed. It's a beast! Sorry for the rant. Excellent reaction!!.
The song The Thing That Should Not be is about the mythical beast from the author H.P Lovecraft called Cthulu or Ktulu which is an Octopus/dragon/human-looking creature. On the Ride the Lighting Album there is an instrumental called The Call of Ktulu.
While And Justice For All is my favorite Metallica album, Master of Puppets is probably the one that works better for most people so I understand why it is their favorite. As for Lars, it's amazing to me WITH ALL THE EVIDENCE AVAILABLE (it's truly incredible how if some asshats on the Internet say something, it just becomes true even if you have ears and eyes), that he is STILL hampered by this insane notion he isn't a good drummer. Lars was an okay drummer. Became a better drummer. And by AJFA was a very good drummer. On the black album, he demonstrates less technical proficiency than on Justice, but he's solid throughout. Sure, his live playing became lazy from like 1999 to 2015, but since then he's put in more effort, proving he's always had the ability, he just didn't care.
Richard Lasley from technicality standpoint Rust In Peace is better. But overall Master of Puppets is superior album it’s melodic lazy thrash metal. And I don’t wanna stir the shit up between Megadeth and Metallica fans my opinion Dave Mustaine is better guitarist than anyone in so called Big-4 and he has many better records than Metallicas but he never have a better record then master of puppets.
Master of Puppets is the first metal album added to the Library of Congress because it was determined by the federal government to be preserved for all time because of its historical significance. It's literally considered a national treasure. Boom!
Avenge Sevenfold did took inspirations on Metallica their songs This Means War is kinda the same as Sad But True by Metallica they basically have same riffs too. Orion is my Favourite song in this album one of their nastiest riffs it's Black Sabbath nasty type of thing.
Lars may not be the drummer he used to be, but he's always been incredible when it came to arranging the songs. There's a reason he has writing credits on nearly every Metallica song.
People will say dave wrote the main riff to leper messiah but it's the middle 59:35 is the part dave claims is a song he was working on called THE HILLS RAN RED that he didn't get credit for but who knows . Dave does play a similar riff on the mcgovney garage tapes .
@@GeekFurious wtf does that even mean 😄 thats worse than Kirk hammett saying " he wrote the chord progression " after years of denying he had anything to do with leper messiah
@@GeekFurious i can only assume you're talking about the spider chord technique in the ride the lightning riff but he wrote that riff too and the sliding riff in that song .
The Rev (RiP) was really inspired by early Metallica/Lars Ulrich from what I can remember. And I can hear a lot of James Hetfield's vocals in M. Shadows. Seeing A7X open for Metallica was amazing a few years ago.
35:00. That actually is a guitar with heavy echo. The opening is just the open Low E-string and the 12th fret harmonics on the the g, b, and high e-strings.
According to someone (I feel like it was Fleming Rasmussen) who was talking to the band about the Master of Puppets album, there were a few “secrets” regarding the album that he said Metallica probably wouldn’t have advertised back when the album came out. One of the secrets was that a piano was used in conjunction with at least the very first open low E string plucks. The guys from Metallica laughed, but didn’t deny it. That being said, what’s weird is that I hear what you hear. An open low E followed by some harmonics at the 12th fret on the high E, B & G strings, respectively. I don’t hear the low piano E, but my hearing sucks lately and I grew up listening to the cassette, which could never do Metallica’s guitar parts justice and even muddied up some vocals to my ear.
The song "Orion" I believe is based on the star constellation. Either that or it's based on a god called Orion. Also I think it's pronounced - "Oh-Ryan"
Good video but I’d say if you are going to watch live Metallica you NEED to watch them live in Seattle ‘89 it’s one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. Also if you thought that was a lot of people you should watch them live in Moscow ‘91, estimates to be about a million people in the crowd. It’s amazing!!
Listening to studio versions for the first time should always be the choice. A lkve version could make or break a first impression (unless it's seattle 89 in that case every song is superior lmao)
Man, you should react to Crumbling Castle live on KEXP by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. They are a great band with two drummers, I know youll like them. If you want to hear a complete album you should start with Murder Of The Universe (wich is divided in three big songs that would be great for three videos). They are very prolific and have a pretty interesting sound. Cheers from Perú.
Metallica is and always will be my favorite band. They’ve been doing this shit the same amount of time I’ve been alive. 41 years! And they still kickin ass! Best metal best thrash, best everything. You seriously need to check out all their albums, you’ll enjoy it. Master is awesome. My favorite is And justice for all” that was the first album I ever heard from Metallica. On it is the song called “one”. You definitely need to do a reaction video to that song! Rock on man! Stay metal!!!!!!🤘
Battery is the song that's about battery street gang of thrash metal fans and bands from the bay area in the beginning of thrash. The thing that should not be is a HP Minecraft inspired song, it was the last song written and the only song written in the studio in Copenhagen denmark, Lars and James Hetfield vocals and rhythm guitars needed a heavy song to finish off the album. Sanitation is written and inspired by the 1975 movie one flew over the cuckoo's nest.
Damn never do live version on your first listen, broke up the vibes. especially disposable heroes studio you wouldve loved his vocals. 'BACK TO THE FRONT!' on the chorus is more intense on the studio compared to that live version where it's almost inaudible and in 1st listen won't even know that they're supposed to be saying. Totally different experience.
You need to react to the band venom. They were the inspiration for thrash metal, death metal, and black metal. They were one of slayers favorite bands and you can tell that early slayer is heavily inspired by them. Tom Araya the singer and bass player of slayer even stole chronos's (singer and bass player for venom) headbang style. I would suggest the song dont burn the witch or witching hour. If you react to witching hour react to the video cause it has better audio quality
Awesome my favorite song on master of puppets... Love Metallica but Megadeth is still my favorite. And Lars is one of the best drummers in trash besides nick menza of mega.
Metallica literally invented thrash metal along with Exodus, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth. So yeah, it's definitely thrash metal. They are the godfathers of the genre.

Lars is one of the most influential drummers of all time. People forget it was the 80s, and instead compare him to today’s drummers.

Nail. On. Head. He's the Micheal Jordan of drumming.
His arrangements are epic.
Lars is a pure legend, millions started drumming just because of him

Those arent guitar parts in the solo riffs of Orion, that was the geniusness of Cliff on bass
Metallica are one of the bands that started Thrash metal. Over time there sounds slowed down but there first 5 albums are absolutely untouchable.
The song The Thing That Should Not be is about the mythical beast from the author H.P Lovecraft called Cthulu or Ktulu which is an Octopus/dragon/human-looking creature. On the Ride the Lighting Album there is an instrumental called The Call of Ktulu.
