We visited Buffalo for Longmire Days and stayed at the Occidental Hotel. Their lobby is worth a look even if you don't stay there. Eat breakfast at the Busy Bee Cafe, have a great dinner at the Virginian and take a scenic drive down Crazy Woman Canyon.
My cousin told me about this video last night so I looked it up. Our moms were natives of Buffalo and I visited dozens of times growing up in Billings, MT, and quite a few times since, most recently in 2018. The Museum building you visited was the Carnegie Library when I was a kid; the museum was just the low building next door. Jim Gatchell was a druggist and neighbor of my grandparents. Very nice to see the old place again.
My absolute favorite town in the US. I’m 35 now. My first visit there I was 10 or 12. Been back a few times. I will live and retire there someday god willing
Nothing better then the old towns across this great country! Thanks Russ for taking us with you so those of us who cannot get out and about can enjoy the beauty and history. Stay dry and stay safe!
🙋♀️Hello Russ! Occidental Hotel has shown 140 years of Western hospitality to a myriad of visitors. Even includes a Saloon. Dates back to the 1880. It would have been a real treat to have gone inside, just to get a taste of the past. I enjoyed seeing Buffalo, a nice little town. Museum was really interesting. Would definitely love to visit.
My prospecting club does gold panning demonstrations at the Gatchell museum right next to that cabin for Jim Gatchell days the end of June. Really enjoy the videos Russ.
Love the gunslinger statue out front of the museum. Seems every museum you visit is so well done and so much larger than I would have expected. Really nice. Thanks so much.
Enjoying your channel so much - love seeing different places in our great nation 🤩 I don't think I'll visit this town, but I'm going to go to Helper, Utah for sure- what a great vid that was ! Thank you 😊
What a great video! I wish that i had visited Wyoming when i was last in the USA... but anyway thanks for sharing Russ! I do enjoy your videos, through your visits i can see the many places that i missed when i was in the US. Thanks so much!
We spent 3 days in Buffalo waiting for vehicle repairs in August, couldn't have planned a better town to be broke down in. We enjoyed downtown, the wool mill and ready liked the Indian Camp Ground! The murals are well done and the sidewalks were covered in impressive chalk art as well. Hope you found the candy store!
Hi Russ, Thank you so much for the Buffalo Wyoming content. It been years since I’ve been there but I loved my time there with a friend and his family that are Buffalo residents.
If we had known you were in town we would have invited you over. However, we are so very happy you like our beautiful little town and please come back again.
Back in my youth I was at Philmont Scout Ranch both as a camper and as a ranger. We called those little patches of blue sky "sucker holes" because they always suckered you into thinking it was clearing up, then it would rain again, lol
I’m from Buffalo NY. in 1975 when I was 10 we crammed in a motorhome and went across the country. Believe it or not we blew the transmission in Buffalo WY.
The museum that you went through Russ is just awesome All of these little museums that you've been going through have just had a ton of history and well worth the stops. Made me want to explore in these little towns. Safe travels!
I should have moved to Buffalo, WY back in 1993 when property was affordable. I still go out there every year and hang out in the Bighorns. Its a two day drive from here in KY.
I remember that drive up into the Bighorn Mountains last year, Russ, with all those switchbacks. Very scenic looking back out across the level rangeland. If there was a statue here in my NYC neighborhood that looked like the one outside the museum, every night there'd be a dozen calls to 911 reporting "a man with a gun." Provided the fruit loops didn't tear it down.
I've been to Wyoming many times, never to Buffalo, Wy. i'm so happy you showed me around the town. The Museum was awesome. i see it's a small and friendly town. Good places to eat and park. Someday i'm going to visit Buffalo Wy. Thanks..
We bought our RV at that campground in Sheridan before it was a campground. Buffalo is also our home. My husband is 3rd generation here. Me, I'm from Jonesboro Louisiana! 😀
Highway 16 from Buffalo to 10 sleep is just a beautiful drive! Not so much once you leave ten sleep! You should check out Medicine wheel you'd really like that!

Definitely like your honestly. Hopefully your stay at the next place will be better. What a beautiful old town. Love that old wood, and bricks. Nice museum. Ty for taking us along. 😊👍
In the off chance you might be wondering, I think that bell was the police station / fire station bell. That small parking lot next to the City Hall was where the old police station / fire station stood. They said it was so old that it was going to fall down. They had to bring a wrecking ball in to knock it down.
Hey Russ coming in from Sheridan just before Buffalo you passed a big lake on the left , they have a nice state park campground there , also if you noticed the Longmire banner on the museum it is because that town is where some of the Longmire tv series is from and i think the writer lived there. the Virginian motel has good dinners there and good country music there . i spent a week there last year at the state park
Ah, what's a little rain? Take your time headed south, it's still over 100° in Quartzsite. Maybe you'll even have a dusting of the white stuff? Love that rootin tootin Wild West. 🤠 🐂 🐎
The town's name has two different spellings. First, there is Buffalo. The true name dedicated to being built on an actual buffalo trail....thus the crooked main street. Then there is the name after what the Buffalo natives calls it, Barffalo. It depends on who you talk to while there. Clear Creek is great fishing if you go up into mountain area. I think about 6-8 miles up US 16 and it is fantastic in the fall.
Hey Russ been out of the state took the kids too Walt Disney in Florida for a few weeks that’s the most money spent ever the grandkids says hello be safe and travel well lance and family
Funny the story use to be you can see from Rapid City to Sioux falls also. lol If you happen to go back to Rapid City stop at the museum called Dahl. It is in the downtown area. It is history in the round from wwI to today. Well worth the visit.
*Great episode!* My other favorite travel channel "Harald Baldr" was literally just at that same town. If you wanna see what it looks like in that hotel, check out his recent episode " $160 Historic Wild West Hotel Wyoming 🇺🇸"

Cute little town! Those metal sheep we saw around 8:40, do you think that's where we get steel wool?
Ya Russ, Tom Horn and the Johnson County War was a Big Deal.
I'm a sucker for old town antique shops. I buy things I really don't need!
Neat little museum....neat that you put your travels on here. Thanks
The buildings appear to be well cared for and maintained.
Such a neat little town and the museum looked interesting. Thank you.
And the Bozeman Trail Steakhouse was mighty tasty when we ate there a few years back.
@@garyleibitzke4166 That sounds really good 👍🏼

Drives by the Occidental Hotel..."old hotel..probably HAUNTED"......Why yes as a matter of fact...lol👻
Do a video of Rock Springs I’m going to a Tiffin Motorhome rally next year at the event center there
Looking good sir! Enjoyed the video 🙂
I love small towns. They always have the weirdest stuff to look at. Give me places like these. You can keep the LA's, Chicagos and NY's of the world
Creek level is very low, usually a few feet higher. Nice little town to hang out in for a few days.
I actually used to live in Sheraton, Wyoming for a brief time in my life. Wasn't the most pleasant memory unfortunately.
Wht happened

Do you remember the Laurel and Hardy moving the piano and it went back down the stairs?? This reminded me of that scene.
