House prices have doubled in the last 3 years in Buffalo. Rentals are about impossible to find. Our city government tries to act like Buffalo is a small Jackson Hole. Property taxes have also gone up. I live in the newer part of town, and house prices around me are ridiculous. Makes it hard for the locals. I live here because of the mountains.

After the old people dye off the young kids are not going to want to keep this place up. The state or county is probably keeping this place alive in hope it will make a comeback, unless they have tourist.
The junk cars in the river were probably a quick and dirty way to control erosion. When my family moved to Nebraska in '71, I rode my bicycle down to the river and stripped parts out of erosion control cars on the river bank. They have since been cleaned up. Turns out the oil from the cars kills fish. Imagine that.
Joe, the car in the river (creek) was probably placed there purposely to protect that corner from erosion to keep the adjacent road stable. I have seen that done in the hills of Utah in my boyhood in the '60s which would be correct as that car was from the late 40's to early 50's. Another very good video. That hotel / bar was very interesting. The plaster work on the ceiling would be very difficult to duplicate today because it is a lost art. The houses in town were also interesting and quite eclectic. Living there however would be challenging as the big city is quite a drive in any direction. I live remote here at Canyon Lake, however the 7th largest city in America (SA) is a 1/2 hour drive away. For Buffalo, Wyoming that is not the case. The winters are also quite severe. After the 1st winter many people leave Wyoming because it is just too difficult. I'd rather deal with the Texas heat. You don't have to shovel heat but you do have to shovel snow. I don't see many people wanting to live there. A nice place to visit but not a place to winter at.
One thing I am missing where is the cat Joe no cats, I always love when you guys post your meals , I love grilled salmon and make it often , for steak we buy New York strips , and me and the wife split one . Chelan , Washington has a bar so similar and bar food just seems to always be right.

Those cars over the bank were probably put there for erosion control from the creek. It used to be very common to use cars for river/creek bank erosion control.
Was a little disappointed you didn't show the horse statues across the street from the other statues. The other statues have to do with the Johnson County War, or Wyoming Range War 1889-1895. Cattle companies vs 'rustlers' who were mostly settlers competing for livestock, land and water rights.
Buffalo was featured on HGTV Home Town Kick Start either last year or the year before where they helped revitalize the town and helped get a few businesses back up and running.

Rock hounding in the mountains west of town is fantastic, but the huge Lake Trout in the reservoir east of town just stay under a dock and ignore anything you offer them.
I have lived in Buffalo Wyoming for 41 years. Michael Thomas made those sculptures. Buffalo is kinda retirement town. Yep, housing is kinda crazy here. Crime is low in Wyoming because we like the 2nd amendment here. The Occidental had a Brothel upstairs. You should have checked out the main restaurant. For anyone who wants to move to Wyoming, my only advice is you better love winter. It can snow here starting in September through April. Summers are short. The Big Horn mountains are beautiful. If you love the outdoors, you will fit it. Otherwise, there's not much to do here. We fish, hunt, camp, ski, and snowmobile.

I was living in Pierre, South Dakota in my mid 20s and I remember walking though the city and beginning to notice the - often common and humble - older houses and their interesting and creative form and details, more beautiful, more interesting and more creative than the modern architect-designed buildings I was trained to appreciate in architecture school; and I began to equally appreciate the pre-modern civic and commercial buildings in the city (I particularly remember the quiet classical serenity of the WW1 memorial building there). I share and appreciate your eye for older houses and buildings - they truly are a superior kind of architecture.
350k for the little house on Wyoming. The cars in the creek were put there to stop erosion in the bend of the stream, TVA "Tennessee Valley Authority in Tn did it until the 80's using old vehicles in the bank then cover them with stones. To answer Nicole's question on the Salmon it is not a common species for Wyoming
Love this! I live in Gillette-68 miles east of Buffalo and visit the area and mountains frequently. For your question about the salmon. About the only type of fish in the creeks there are going to be trout-brook trout, rainbow trout, maybe a cutthroat now and then but no salmon. Buffalo’s city pool is iconic and is filled by Clear creek. Used to be river rock bottom back in the day but has been remodeled to cement now. It’s in a beautiful city park just west of downtown. Buffalo is the town the Netflix series “Longmire” is based on and by author, Craig Johnson’s many novels. I could go on and on about Buffalo and the surrounding area!! ❤
When I saw the sign for for Johnson County the first thing I thought of was the Johnson County War of 1889-1893, also called the Wyoming Range War. A mini-series was made about this about twenty years ago or so, and of course the 1980 movie "Heaven's Gate" also was somewhat based on the story.
If you had to live in either Buff NY or Buff WY it would behoove you to choose WY. Both have bitter cold winters but the odds of you getting Clapped in WY is probably slim to none.
Well howdy pardner, thanks for taking me back to Buffalo! (I was there back in August) It's a great place to visit; nice folks, historic downtown and museum, cool murals, the once-largest public swimming pool in the west...what more can you ask? The town is proud of being the setting of the TV show "Longmire" -- they have a celebration every summer in the sheriff's honor. (This despite the majority of the series being filmed in and around Las Vegas NM 🙂) I'm sure you decided to dine at the Occidental because of of it's history, but if you ever make it back to Buffalo I'd recommend The Bozeman Trail Steakhouse. Happy trails!
What a charming town. Loved the murals. Your travels always calm me. Thanks!!! 🙂Oh, those sculptures were great too. I wonder how cold it gets and how much snow. Hope you go to see Mt.Rushmore and Crazy Horse next. Safe travels!
In most of your vids, I hardly see any people walking in the towns. I live in a small shoreline town, and on any day the town has its residents walking around, enjoying a coffee on the town green, waking their pets, shopping, ...
Another great video! I was in Eastern Wyoming in 2018, and I visited Devils Tower and did some hiking there. I was in Gillette, Wyoming, which is another nice town. And I don’t know if you’ll ever been to a town named Bill, but it was interesting. I drove through there at night. All our interstates are quite something, but I-90 is our longest at over 3,000 miles.
The statue at the beginning of your video is Tom Horn - the most famous of the hired gunmen of the 'Johnson County War' of 1892 - Steve McQueen plays him in the movie 'Tom Horn' his last film. The Cattlemen's Association hired gunmen to clear out the rustlers - which they did. Good film.
I worked in an around Buffalo for four years on the pipeline. Really good fishing in the mountains at Tie Hack and good motor cycle riding. Sheridan is also a cool place
We were there a couple of years ago. Not sure if you knew, but, it was the setting for the series “Longmire”, which we loved. We were surprised you didn’t mention that because it was everywhere. On another note, just wondering why Nicole hasn’t been imbibing lately?? Inquiring minds want to know. 😊

Beautiful town. I love your videos. So very interesting. cI enjoy when Nikki is ten them. She is so lovely. I like seeing what the two of you eat. i
Thank you!
That house at 96 S. Wyoming is way over priced at $ 350,000.00.
I agree.
Brilliant Program BIG THANKS 👍👍
Thank you!
What a neat town! If only Wyoming winters were not so cold I would move there in a heartbeat.
Buffalos not to bad.
Amazing views Mountains only a few miles to west.
Great vlog
nice town great tour food potatoes are smashed to get mashed use both they are good thanks
If you had to live in either Buff NY or Buff WY it would behoove you to choose WY. Both have bitter cold winters but the odds of you getting Clapped in WY is probably slim to none.
ワイオミング州に行ったのですね! 落ち着いた静かな街並みがとても良かったです。
This is where the Western series movie of Longmire took place.. Tgey still have Longmire festivals every year
Cool! LOVE that series!
We have visited Mt Rushmore. It's in our Rapid City, SD video. :)
In most of your vids, I hardly see any people walking in the towns. I live in a small shoreline town, and on any day the town has its residents walking around, enjoying a coffee on the town green, waking their pets, shopping, ...
i noticed that in this video, eerie looking
2 minutes into watching video. Love old towns!!
Good film.
Interesting.
The old cars are used to preserve the river bank from erosion .
Thanks for the Ride as Always You 2!
She's cut back. :)
I like how they perched that courthouse on that little hill. Nice little town, driven by it many times but never stopped. Thanks for taking care of that for us!
