Wow has it been so long, I saw him in 98. I still have the autographed program. He's very talented and I am honored that he came to my school.

To Benjamin Fan: I saw Nakamatsu perform two days ago on New Year's Eve, and he discussed the competition. He said that the competition came down to the final six and the awards were announced in reverse order, so when they came time to announce the silver medalist he knew it was either him or the one other remaining compteitor. Once the silver medalist was announced, he knew he had won.

Question: How did Nakamatsu know that he had won after Kasman was named 2nd place? Weren't there several other pianists who could have also been named 1# place as well?

What a dumb choice. The Shostakovich first concerto. Pretentious choice. And can we please stop showing non stop excerpts of the ending of Rachmaninoff Third?

What a dumb comment. There is no "we" here, there's only your sense of entitlement. Also, you were 22 years late with respect to the competition and 10 years late with respect to the video. So if you didn't want to see non-stop excerpts of the ending of Rachmaninoff's 3rd concerto, I hope you stopped looking at it.

The Rachmaninoff 3rd ending is more suitable for excerpts because of its exciting nature.
