Outstanding performance of this concerto. Jon Nakamatsu is among the very few who can do justice to this mammoth work. The Folsom orchestra also did a very fine job playing a difficult score, made more remarkable by the performance of a smaller-community orchestra playing in top form, rivaling, I might add, the “ Big City’” philharmonics. The recording is unbalanced in the mix, but the musicians themselves supersede any inconsistencies by the recording engineers. I am so happy to have heard this performance by one of the world’s finest -if not as celebrated - pianists, hoping there will be many more recordings posted of this wonderfully-gifted musician.

Nakamatsu has never disappeared. He is still performing and active and is a professor at the San Francisco Conservatory.
He keeps a schedule of concerts although he isn't playing with the big league orchestras.
