    Nice to see a really big jump in hp and torque for the 2022 rogue. It really needed it. I would probably take it easy though on the 3 cylinder turbo for long term durability. It's a lot of pressure going into a small displacement engine.

    • @Iegend17
      @Iegend17  2 года назад +10

      Yes exactly. I think they could’ve kept the 2.5 and added more HP. But the 2.5 wasn’t good and when accelerating the whole suv would Shake. This 3 cylinder is much better the ride is definitely smoother

      @@Iegend17 well a lot of manufacturers are going this way with smaller displacement engines (i.e ford and GM). I just feel like they aren't going to last 200k+ miles like a Toyota but honestly most people don't keep cars that long nowadays so as long as it's in warranty I don't see an issue with it.

    Tip from someone that has driven a lot of these: Don't go full throttle. It puts the revs up near redline in the rev range where a small turbo has trouble operating. About half throttle here is best, keep it under ~5k RPM and it will feel quicker.

    In Canada you have to go to at the SV model and shell out quite a bit more than just the S, in order to get the 3 cyl vc turbo engine. They seem to be dumping the old 2.5l engine on the Canadian market.
    Also, the SV here in Canada is made in Japan, with the VIN starting with J and the lower ones are all made in North America. Where I have no clue, but we all know that Japanese quality control is much better, so for people in Canada, get at least the SV model.

    • @Antiorganizer
      @Antiorganizer Год назад

      @@JIMMY-ck1oe A turbo makes up for the small power a 1.5L normally could produce. Plus Nissan created a world's first: variable compression. Not to be confused with variable valve timing, which is old now.
      Variable compression is where the actual compression ratio has a range, instead of it being fixed. It's the only engine on the market that has this.
      The result is that the horsepower of the 4cyl had about 187 hp, and torque also 187 lb, the new 1.5L 3 cyl variable compression turbo produces 201hp and 225 lb. The acceleration becomes much better, and interestingly, the fuel consumption actually became better.
      Another interesting thing is that maximum acceleration happens at relative low rpm, so the engine doesn't have to go all bezerk.
      It really actually ends up feeling as if you have a V6 under the hood, but then much better fuel economy. Unless it's going to break, right now, it is the world's best gasoline engine hands down. Better numbers than Honda or Toyota even. The only better configurations are hybrids and plug in hybrids, but we all know that comes with a much higher price tag, dealers often don't have them available, and there are concerns what happens 8 years down the road with a possible battery problem (eg. would you buy an 8 year old hybrid right now? I wouldn't!)

    Why use a three cylinder engine with a turbo in a big car like the Nissan Rouqe.Poor engine.My Nissan Qashqai as it called in Europe has 1.5 l diesel engine with a turbo and the manual gearbox .I would have wished that it have had a 2.0 TDI instead.I cannot understand why the engines have to be so Tiny.

    I test drove a Nissan Rogue in 2017 before I bought a Honda CR-V. The Rogue was awful to drive. Why is Nissan trying so hard to fail? I now have a highlander. The mpg is awful, but I have an engine and transmission to last a lifetime.

    Knowing how people maintain Altimas and Rogues this engine will be a disaster. These turn into buy here pay here as soon as the second or third owner comes around.

    As a Nissan owner I can tell you PLEASE! stay away from Nissan and their cripple CVT transmissions! W/out warranty you are looking at $4800 - $6,000 to replace it.

      I agree! I had a 2012 Nissan Altima with that infamous CVT. Mine was nice and quiet until the CVT heated up and then it started whining a spoiled brat. That CVT coupled with a new unproven turbo charged three cylinder engine with variable compression ratio is enough to make me run away fast. Sorry, not sorry.

      Nissan tells you that the CVT fluid is lifetime. But you really should replace it.

      @@LouAntonioGiordano Same with Jeep and their CVT. The Jeep dealers won't replace the fluid, but find an independent transmission shop and they will.

    Do not buy a Rogue. Their transmissions are garbage. I have a 2016 Rogue that failed at 73000 miles. Nissan refused to pay for repairs even though I have spent $3000 in maintenance over the past year! A new transmission will cost over 5k! You have been warned!!! Make this right Nissan!
