"Doc’s Guitar/Black Mountain Rag" was recorded at TuneSmith Studios outside of Nashville, TN with Billy Strings on guitar, Tommy Emmanuel on guitar, and Mike Bub on upright bass. It's produced by Tommy with Brad Benge as the engineer. "Doc's Guitar" was written by Doc Watson and "Black Mountain Rag" was written by Leslie Keith.

2 amazing guitarist but the way tommy can mix it up is frankly mind blowing.by that I mean how he can suddenly go off beat and play between the beat most guys playing is stiff its right on the beat but not tommy hes truly unique

Virtuosity squared. The bass player is great too and it’s amazing to listen to this but the appreciation grows as you watch the combination of passion, intensity and fun they display. There are other videos of them playing together live and how much they enjoy pushing each other is so fun to see.

Tommy picked out not one, but no less than three different signature licks in Billy's solo, while holding down God's own fingerpicking pattern, and then instantly incorporates them into his own solo on the fly as a show of respect. What an absolute master.
60 years with a guitar in his hands 24 hours a day and a kid half his age that did the same thing. Best all around guitar player alive today and arguably the best flat picker alive today. Plus haven’t seen Billy with that concentration look on his face very often.
Only when he’s playing with Chris Thile or Bela Fleck.

I met Tommy years ago at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society in Nashville, and he is the nicest guy you will ever meet. He is one of the best guitarist ever, and a great drummer too! ❤
He really is. He was my next door neighbor for a bit. He is so nice and humble. It was a treat to listen to him play guitar on his porch in the evenings just because that’s what he loves doing.

I've seen Tommy many, many years ago at the Three Weeds pub in Rozelle Sydney Mate. Incredible musician. And I'm struggling to dig myself out of a Billy Strings RUclips rabbit hole 😂

This is probably the hardest song I've ever learned to play. I struggle trying to play it up to speed. And when I do, I'm not yet able to play it cleanly. Amazing job to two of the best, and of my favorite guitarist masters.

Tommy Emmanuel was the one who inspired me to start learning fingerstyle and Billy Strings was the one who inspired me to start learning flatpicking. Love both of them.

This is also one of these rare moments when you enjoy music as much as video portraying these two fine souls.
It is interesting to me that Billy seems to do most of his recording work with a Martin D-28 (vintage 1944 in this video), while he opts for a Thompson in his live concerts. They are both wonderful acoustic guitars, but I just find his choices interesting.

@@jbilly24 I wouldn't want to drill a hole in my 2018 Martin, but I only own one Martin and am not a professional musician/entertainer. Billy has at least one vintage Martin that he has had holes drilled for electronics.
Simply amazing to watch and enjoy...Tommy Emmanuel has long been considered the greatest living acoustic guitarist....Billy Strings is his heir apparent. The base lines anchored them so incredibly well....seamless

That's as good as it gets when it comes to a tribute to Doc Watson used to see Tommy with his brother Phil in the 70s and 80s they were giants of the Australian music scene then Tommy and Billy what a session mindblowing.✌️👁👀
