Tommy Emmanuel was the one who inspired me to start learning fingerstyle and Billy Strings was the one who inspired me to start learning flatpicking. Love both of them.
When he plays it live the tempo gets faster every time that riff comes around in the song its nuts he actually does it in this video 2:10 you are welcome sir😊
2 amazing guitarist but the way tommy can mix it up is frankly mind blowing.by that I mean how he can suddenly go off beat and play between the beat most guys playing is stiff its right on the beat but not tommy hes truly unique
Holy CRAP! I've heard a lot of guitar playin' in my 85 years. I've never experienced a more entertaining, richly precise and thrilling set than these two pickers just plucked. THANK YOU!
Copy that. I've seen Tommy many, many years ago at the Three Weeds pub in Rozelle Sydney Mate. Incredible musician. And I'm struggling to dig myself out of a Billy Strings RUclips rabbit hole 😂
@@benspencer9523 that rabbit hole has no exit I don't think. Imagine if Tommy brought Billy and band and also Molly Tuttle and band! Then add Michael Cleveland and band. Seriously not sure my heart could take it. 🔥🎶❤🎶🔥
Only negative comments I've seen about Billy playing is from insecure, disgruntled Dead and Co. fans who watched Billy and the Kids shows at Red Rocks 😂
I met Tommy years ago at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society in Nashville, and he is the nicest guy you will ever meet. He is one of the best guitarist ever, and a great drummer too! ❤
He really is. He was my next door neighbor for a bit. He is so nice and humble. It was a treat to listen to him play guitar on his porch in the evenings just because that’s what he loves doing.
@@jordanjohnson9591 Man, that would have been an education. I have played guitar for 50 yrs, but I would really be a player with him as a next door neighbor. That's great!
Simply amazing to watch and enjoy...Tommy Emmanuel has long been considered the greatest living acoustic guitarist....Billy Strings is his heir apparent. The base lines anchored them so incredibly well....seamless

Holy f***!!! What was that? Felt like a musical tornado that swept through my computer, my speakers and finally through my head... I'm still grinning ;-) Fantastic work, sirs!
Would love to see more collaboration with Billy Strings. Him and I are from the same hometown and are the same age. Surprised I didn't see him in my teenage days but I love that guy. You guys rock
Tommy picked out not one, but no less than three different signature licks in Billy's solo, while holding down God's own fingerpicking pattern, and then instantly incorporates them into his own solo on the fly as a show of respect. What an absolute master.
I'm sure you've seen the Guitar Boogie>Workingman's Blues video. Tommy starts throwing out subtle, random stuff and Billy catches it every time. Tommy was so impressed that he invited Billy to play on this album!
Virtuosity squared. The bass player is great too and it’s amazing to listen to this but the appreciation grows as you watch the combination of passion, intensity and fun they display. There are other videos of them playing together live and how much they enjoy pushing each other is so fun to see.
Nothing needs to be said about Tommy's expertise, but number two there, Billy Strings, was cuttin' it up, too! Very nice. I will have to go look him up, looks like he might be expanding out my playlist. :-)
60 years with a guitar in his hands 24 hours a day and a kid half his age that did the same thing. Best all around guitar player alive today and arguably the best flat picker alive today. Plus haven’t seen Billy with that concentration look on his face very often.
@@Roknjaz that’s a fact. Like watching people try to keep up with Bela and Thile. Billy does pretty good. I’d just put my instrument down and slowly leave the room.
That's as good as it gets when it comes to a tribute to Doc Watson used to see Tommy with his brother Phil in the 70s and 80s they were giants of the Australian music scene then Tommy and Billy what a session mindblowing.✌️👁👀
Most people fail to realize what makes Billy Strings one of the all time greats: it's that he's the best acoustic rhythm guitar player of his era. And it's all thanks to Tony Rice. When his fellow musicians solo, Billy is always in the background, not stepping on any toes, playing the perfect thing, yet always driving the groove forward. He pushes his fellow players to be the absolute best versions of themselves. That's his true superpower as a musician
@@justindutton8707 i do believe there is a clip of Billy playing one of Tony's guitars some time after his passing. May be located on Billys you tube channel.
This is what my guitar watch on yoututube when I'm not at home

I'm going to try that trick!
And there's your proof that others from outer space walk amongst us!
Interesting to see Billy looking like he needs to really concentrate to keep up.

My two favourite acoustic guitar players on the planet! Playing Doc Watson tunes!! What a treat!!!
I love how both are playing with their eyes closed to really get 100% into the doc watson experience
2 generations, 2 masters !
