You brought back lovely memories of our visit to Elephant sands a few years ago. We loved it. Best place we've been for close up elephant experience. That bread you made looked great.
Wow just loved that you gave out a shout out to the care takers of elephants sands . Cheers to you both . Always loved it there the two times I got to visit . Thanks for another beautiful video . And may you both have a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A GREAT NEW YEAR TO COME 🌨❄️☃️🎄. THANKS AGAIN FOR SHARING YOUR WONDERFUL JOURNEY . Cheer’s from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) :) 🌍👍🏼😁 .
Thank you so much Steve!! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Happy new year to you too. We really appreciate all of your kind comments and support, it means a lot to us ☺️
So glad you visited and enjoyed Elephant Sands . It truly is a magical place and we always make a point of stopping off there . I don’t get the negative comments at all and we always find it so good . Thanks for mentioning how much the owners do for the Ellies too. We love that place . Merry Xmas you guys
What a wonderful experience it is to have the opportunity to stay at Elephant Sands. I am glad you enjoyed it, your videos are amazing. Merry Christmas to you both. Greetings from Germany
@@TheLandyExpedition You're welcome. I've been curious about the Petromax enamelware I've seen you using, so ordered myself some plates and bowls (which have already arrived), and will using them during my upcoming (warm weather) weekend camping trips. 😎
My wife and I stayed at Elephant Sands on a trip in 2013, magical experience with elephants so close, apparently a few years before our visit during a particularly dry spell there was no water in the watering hole so the elephants destroyed the building trying to get to the pipes to find water, that prompted them to ship in water to make sure there was always water for the elephants.
Another Great Video. Love how you can get so close to the Elephant's. And the wonderful meals people cook in the middle of nowhere. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you both.
Looks great. I’ve been to Botswana a couple of times but never managed to get to Elephant Sands but it’s now on my list of place to visit next time. Great video once again, thanks.
It’s a super easy recipe, nothing fancy but you can’t beat a freshly made loaf of bread! 3 cups flour 1 1.5 tsp sugar 2 tsp salt 2 1.5 tsp yeast or 1 packet 1 1/3 cups warm water We sometimes add garlic or mixed herbs. ☺️
Drone usage Namibia/ Botswana.... I notice some of your past video's you have drone footage. Are permits required on entry or do you take the risk and sneak the device across the boarders? Also what restrictions do apply if any in both countries? Cheers. Great viewing.
As far as we know drone usage in Namibia and Botswana is permitted without any need for a licence/permit/authority. Obviously, we never fly a drone in a game reserve or park. There are restrictions in other countries but so far we’ve had no problems. I’d recommend doing some of your own research just in case we have missed something ☺️
Hmm! Interesting answer. To enter Namibia you need to apply for a permit 120 days before crossing the border. Botswana also requires you to apply for permit. If the device is found at border check its confiscated. Seems to much of a hassle to have one. Keep profile low and enjoy travels. cheers. @@TheLandyExpedition
All good and well regards looking after the elephants' well-being, but there are way too many elephants there. Do yourselves a favour and compare the 2007 and 2023 Google Earth images of the area around the lodge, and you'll see the loss of vegetation, especially trees, since 2007.
That’s interesting to hear. The topic of elephant populations is an interesting one. We do agree that there was a lack of vegetation but we just put it down to the lack of rain? We may have been wrong to assume that.

It’s a very special place. We witnessed the destruction the elephants caused during our time spent there. Pulling up pipes and drains! 😂

Merry Christmas!! No we haven’t actually! It’s never as good as South Africa!
You won't get much closer to elephants than that without getting trodden on. Enjoy your Christmas.
