@@littleratboye I literally also always assumed it was a man and never even questioned it. Every time I picture a man. Is that progressive of me, or sexist of me? Lol jk. But it could very well be either one. I just think it’s funny I never questioned it and always pictured a man.
I was fortunately watching all three shows at the time and it made this episode and "Turn Left" worth the payoff. 2nd season of Torchwood ended just a few weeks before "Stolen Earth" aired, so the feelings were still raw. Glad ya'll enjoyed it.
Easter egg: the sun wave was developed by the Mr. Copper Foundation. Mr.copper was the tour guide from the Titanic Christmas special who the Doctor leaves on Earth.
The stolen earth concept goes back to the series in the 1960's and the movie remake of the same story! Bernard Cribbens who played Wilfred Mott also played as Tom Campbell who was a Doctors companion in the 1960's movie. Both of which had the same plot!
In the tv sequence which Ianto was watching, the guy who asked if he had been drinking furniture polish was a great British comedian, Paul O'Grady. He died very suddenly earlier this year. He began on stage in the late 1970s in London's gay bars using his drag persona, Lily Savage. Lily became a mainstream act, even hosting a game show on the BBC, Blankety Blank (the UK's version of the US show Match Game). Shortly after this Lily retired to a nunnery and Paul became a celebrity in his own right, hosting his own talk show, The Paul O'Grady Show, for 11 years. He later became an ambassador for the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and fronted a tv show called Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs. Paul was naturally funny. It never felt forced. Politically he stood in the centre-left, and so hated the UK's Conservative government - something which he would rant about often. Even his rants, while being serious, had humour in them. He was a hugely loved personality in the UK and is sadly missed.
Davros is my all time favourite Doctor Who villain! First appeared in 1975. The next episode contains one of my favourite villain monologues that he does, its fantastic, hope you enjoy it! 🤘🏻
A museum that had worked a few shifts at had a Doctor Who convention. The actor that played Davros was there. He was in the classic series. You did have to pay for an autograph.
This is such a great episode, and dont forget how awesome the soundtrack score is be Murray Gold too! So many small seeds that have been planted throughout the past few seasons which really pay off once you go back and see them in a rewatch. Also amazing seeing how the Doctors companions come together to this time bring the Doctor through to aid the planet so fucking good this arc.
Subbing for Doctor Who! :) Seems like you guys are having a lot of fun watching the show! It only gets better and better. Can't wait for the next reaction :)
Enter Davros: This is Davros first return to Doctor Who in 20 years he was a recurring Classic Who villain and is the creator of the Daleks who first appeared in 1975 in a Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) story called "Genesis of the Daleks". I liked this episode will The Tenth Doctor regenerate or not regenerate? We know you don't 😊 can't wait to see yours guys reaction to the next episode.
'theres always a chance' No, without the doctor, there isnt. The daleks fought the time lords tona stalemate, no other race even comes close. The cybermen cant stop them, the sontatans cant. Nobody can stop the daleks. Even the doctor has almost been beaten by them before. There truly was no hope without him.
While zapping through channels, whenever I came across 'How it's made' and 'storage war', I kept watching, hypnotised. Yes, in England there are still milkmen. In our country, not anymore. The way The Doctor deliveres his lines to the Judoon, he brings it with the same seriousness as if he was in a Shakespeare play (and he have been in those a lot), "Maho". This is such an epic season finale, all those crossovers. I like how you both used common sense that Wilf fired the paint ball pellet into the 'eye' of the Dalek. Ofcourse it didn't work, but it was the actor's idea to do this to provide comic relief in stressful moments of Daleks attacking the earth. That did work. Personally I have never watched Torchwood, maybe because I thought it would be more of a horro show with all those monsters, but maybe I should give it a try. And Garrett is right, The Doctor IS regenerating, what a seasonfinale!
fun fact in classic who, I think Remembrance of the Daleks, the Doctor regenerated midway through the series. In Tom Bakers run, he regenerated 2 episodes before the end. Regenerations shouldn't be held for a finale end scene. Having them in the first, or even midway point, would spice it up. Especially if the BBC didn't announce to the public "X Doctor is leaving and X is taking their place"
"Remembrance of the Daleks" is a 7th Doctor story (specifically episodes 1, 2, 3 and 4 of season 25) and he doesn't regenerate into that story. The 4th Doctor regenerates in the last episode of Logopolis (Season 18 episodes 25, 26, 27 and 28), which is also the last episode of the season.
Azguard Mike I don't recall any of those scenes in the story the 4th and 7th Doctor's didn't regenerate until their final appearance it's only NuWho they started to muck around with the regeneration.
i like how they assume the soldier Jack met in the bar was female 😂😂😂
I’ve never even thought about that. I always assumed it was a man
Well if they had been watching Torchwood they would’ve known that Captain Jack and Ianto were an item.
It doesn't matter for Jack Harkness xD
To be fair Noah did say “or he”

"Harriet Jones, former Prime Minister"
"Yes, we know who you are"
She is the MVP of the episode.

"Best companion and its not close." Facts 😂

Quite literally '.. a big piece of machinery ' as they use the Magnatron to move the earth.

my landlord looks like Davros.

Love you guys lol - Looking forward to your next 6 reactions - some of the best Doctor Who episodes ever.
You know the Shadow Proclamation has been mentioned in about every other episode.
Serious kudos for knowing about the Sarah Jane Smith series. Really. Do check out Torchwood.
Milkman comment - still got one for our area - they also deliver certain groceries via their website.
I had a milk lady when I was a baby.
Milk men are still a thing here!
Keep the tissues at hand for the next episode. If you care about the characters you'll need em
I think I see this episode as Infinity War because the next episode is Endgame, that run scene is everything, great reaction.
Had the same feeling about the regeneration? This was the longest week when I first watched as a kid.

Indeed, Torchwood is very good. Granted, it'll break your heart pretty much every every time, but it's funny, and scary, and absolutely brilliant!
R.i.p tenth doctor 😢
Davros is a legendary who villain defo you should react to his debut in genesis of the daleks
Hurry up with the next episode! Even more gut-wrenching.

It is impossible to stress how huge this cliffhanger was in 2008. The whole country was talking about it.
