The “dead child” comment has been directed at me many times along with “when your “son” turns 18, “he” will disappear from your life if you don’t affirm”. Well, I don’t affirm and my daughter will turn 18 in November. In October, we are going to get matching tattoos to mark her 2 years with no suicide attempts. (She had 5 in 2 years starting at the age of 13.) And when she comes home from school or work or even an outing she seeks me out to tell me about it. I’m still scared to death that she will “fall” when she turns 18, but for right now I cannot stop being her link to reality no matter who beats on me.
@@johnsmith1474 I think you misread the comment, which, admittedly is hard to follow; but I understood that the mother is NOT affirming the gender dysphoria and the child is doing ok, for now. But mental illness is a life-long struggle.

8:08 Exactly. I’ve been saying this for years: a teenage girl who’s become’ Gender confused’ online has nothing in common with a 55 year old autogynephile etc
what he's saying is idiotic. there are different types of dysphoria, which isn't even necessarily present in trans people. it's obvious he doesn't know what he's talking about.
@@cheesepuff65 He has years of advanced training and even more years of clinical practice in psychotherapy in psychotherapy, and is a published author respected by his peers. But CHEESEPUFF, some anonymous poster on a RUclips comment thread, says he doesn't know what he's talking about, so . . .
The difference between a 55 yr old autogynphile and a teenage autoandrophillic girl is 40 years, that 55 year old was once a child with mental health issues just like the teenage girl, autism and ADHD eccentricity doesn't disappear with age. One just gets seen as perverted and the girl gets away with it. But at the roots it's all the same condition. There is some slight variation but overall those on the spectrum have serious social defects and want to transition to try and escape that. Some are fetishistic, but the age thing doesn't matter, the internet indoctrination gets too all vanurable people.
I think it’s sad that some adults are so invested on being part of a new wave collective, they forget what it’s like to be a child, experimenting, learning, growing, developing and (yes, sometimes suffering) through change. All these things are natural and healthy. Imo it’s a type of predatory behaviour to swoop in on a child’s passing curiosity and drive them down a path of transition with a secret delight that by doing so, they’ve somehow joined and “woke” community.
To understand how utterly bizarre this is, Eliza Mondegreen has posted (on her Substack) a forum conversation among parents of ‘trans kids’ whereby one mum is upset and confused because her daughter is furious at her for letting her get a double mastectomy and go on wrong sex hormones at the age of 14, now that she regrets it. And What does the mum think? Oh, maybe her daughter has gone down some dark detransitioner rabbit hole. Anything but believe what her daughter is telling her. Well worth reading. I believe Jamie Reed has also written about the same thing.
As Helen Joyce said, a parent who has irreversibly harmed their child will never, ever, ever be able to admit it. They cannot back down, for the rest of their lives.
@user-tg9qq8eb3h I think she says many won't be always to. There are a number of parents who have recognised what they were led into & regret it. My mum's boyfriend transed his daughter because he was advised to. She hasn't desisted so he uses her 'pronouns' & calls her his 'son' to maintain the relationship, but unbeknownst to her he is a terf now
Pity the mom didn't worry about the trans rabbit hole.😡 If I was her child I would be full no contact. It is the parent's responsibility to protect the child until adulthood...that means making decisions for them.
But that mother is also wracked by guilt that she might have done the wrong thing in supporting her daughter's delusions, while believing it to be the right thing. And what got me was her continued reference (to begin with) to her daughter as "he" despite her daughter having detransitioned... Like the mother had taken it all so totally onboard that she found it harder to shake off than her daughter did. The gender ideology cult is damaging well-meaning parents as well as their children.
We are thoroughly within the transhuman epoch now. It may be the key religion/ideology/belief system to guide the advanced industrial world. People in the liberal West are starting to take novel corporeal transformation as a solid article of faith.
My daughter almost went down this rote. Cut all her hair off, started calling herself a boys name. I was absolutely terrified that shed ask to start hormone blockers (she was 12). I can live with the fashion choices, that doesnt bother me, but surgeries and medications are totally different. Thank GOD that day never came. The tomboy phase gradually fizzled out. 3 years later, she's now back to her normal self, very girly, with fake nails and long hair and crop tops etc. But i was very worried for a while there. Lost a lot of sleep. Thank god it ended before doctors got involved.
The connection between punk, goth, emo and trans/gender fluid are so blindingly obvious that it's hard to imagine not seeing it. For girls, now add anorexia and cutting and there's 95% of what you need to know about youth gender identity pathology.
Those subcultures are also disproportionately overrepresented amongst gay and bisexual people, as they are among neurodivergent people. This "episode" amounts to promoting conversion therapy because a man wore black lipstick once and thought he solved something that can be observed in cadavers. Interesting to see he still jumps on bandwagons aimed at his age group.

@@cheesepuff65 As I understand it, from cruising the youtube channels- the suspicion of the Trevor Project stems from this. It appears to those who have not embraced gender ideology, that the TP (which started out as a sincere suicide prevention effort) has been captured by trans activists, and that it now asserts the following principles as unquestionable. 1. Any attempt by concerned parents or therapists to influence a 'gender confused' person to think twice before cross-sex hormones or surgery is equivalent to the violent aversion therapies applied to homosexuals in the sixties. 2. Therefore any exploratory psychotherapy other than total affirmation is dangerous. 3. the only alternative to suicide is transition.

Just announce the sex of your baby to your family and friends so they can keep that in mind when they get you gifts to celebrate the baby's arrival, or keep it vague if you prefer people don't let themselves be guided by sex stereotypes when buying gifts for a BABY. Thank you for understanding that they are Sex Reveal Parties rather than Gender Reveal Parties. As they don't seem to understand that a child's gender is not apparent until the age of 4 or 5. So that all they are revealing is physiological sex rather than psychological gender. But then so many Heterosexuals don't seem to understand the difference between sex and gender. There are far more influences on a child growing up than the parents. School peer groups, and definitely school bullying. I was a junior school teacher. It could be especially bad among the girls. Excluding one from a group or changing friends could devastate a girl. Social media plays a great part. I stopped FB because it made depressed and I’m 77. Life is isolated nowadays unless you partake of social media. I’ve chosen isolation. But too difficult for a young person to choose to come out of social media. Parents’ influence is reduced and the very people who love the person are cast aside. My 50yr old nephew/niece now lives as a woman and favours his LGBT friends to my 80+ yr old brother and sister in law. Even at that age the influence to break from family seems to be an inherent part of it.
I was watching a Ted Talk titled "own your face" , made by a guy who was born with a disfirguring growth in the middle of his face. He was talking about a sliding doors moment when he was 14 and had the option of a recostructive surgery to make him look more "normal" that obviously had some risks attached, and he said his parents did the worst thing they've ever done to him by giving HIM the choice of whether to have it done. He chose not to take the option and apparently that was the moment he started to own his face and accept it. The first thing I thought of was the medicalisation of gender dysphoria in children.
That actually reminds me of how i spent my life desperately trying to be a man to be 'normal' until faced with the realisation I couldn't continue any more I accepted I'm trans & transitioned. My one regret is that due to growing up in a society dominated by the ideological transphobia of scum like Bindel & Hakeem I feel I wasted most of my life desperately trying to be someone I'm not. People's lives are their own. Whether cis or trans people should be free to live their own lives without having other people's ideology rammed down their throat. Which is what the anti-trans movement does by trying to force trans kids to be cis directly against their will. That ruins lives.
As someone with autism, who didn't find this out til I was an adult, who would have been told i was transgender when i was younger, because i am gender non comforing- I just do what i do- This is absolutely terrifying. Thank you for highlighting these ongoing issues.
I like how you say this even as most people in the comments still would say that you are a freak or a creep because you are gender non conforming, they don't like you just because you don't like trans people they just hate you less
@@tuemanoguei8155 I don't care if they love me or hate me. Doesn't change the fact that awful things are being done to these children/ young people, and that they need to be pointed out/ highlighted so we can stop harm from being done to others.
I’m autistic and had a firm identity as a “not a girl” tomboy from very very young. Even my teddy is a boy in a dress who I got very cross if anyone misgendered him - from about age 2 (I was born in 1970) So while I agree that the social contagion has escalated this in autistic kids- I think people should also be aware that not only the social nonconformity - many of us autistic people just barely identify as human let alone a gender role. But also- there could be prenatal hormonal effects ( my mum was given weekly hormones to prevent miscarriage with me ) Fortunately I also had some former “spiritual “ type beliefs - so I just decided I feeeeel like I have a boy brain BUT I have the body I have. Hardly anyone has a body they exactly want. So I just set out to accept my body as it is- having kids helped me appreciate the usefulness of my body. And I know for sure if I was born in the 90s I’d be one of those teens on hormones and surgery. And I honestly doubt I’d have survived the drama of that- also- I would be happy with a beard and some extra body hair- but I would HATE if I ended up bald with a big hairy back as one of my trans friends has. Also- with autism there is already anxiety and depression often- and processing feelings etc. so if I’d had all that extra stuff to deal with - plus meds or medical appointments etc I was aware my kids being on the spectrum they could have had similar feelings- so I made sure as they grew up they knew they could mess around with doing what they liked- and it didn’t make them a girl if they played dress ups- or had feelings. I didn’t assign “feminine “ or masculine to behaviours and told them however they were is perfectly fine for them. I have noticed many of the kids who go down this gender suddenly on the radar are kids who haven’t necessarily had a lot of concepts in discussions from a young age. My kids even knew a couple of people who transitioned- but they knew it wasn’t simply because they felt like the opposite sex- it was because their situation was severe- they’d had a lot of counselling and tried to be ok- and the hormones and surgery was needed on their extreme cases - and it worked for them! But they knew it was serious and not simply about gender roles or clothing etc
Thank you, this is so well said, especially "many of us autistic people just barely identify as human let alone a gender role". Exactly! If I'd been born in the 21st century instead of the 20th, I would've been misdiagnosed as a trans boy. From earliest childhood I was a tomboy, and I never liked "boring girl stuff" like dolls. But like you, I eventually grew into appreciating the benefits of having a woman's body. And when I discovered a silk skirt at a used clothing store, I was amazed at how comfortable some female clothing can be. I'm not surprised there's been a massive increase in girls being misdiagnosed as trans, compared to boys. . . autism is frequently underdiagnosed in girls, and we're socially noncomformist. I have a couple friends who transitioned as adults and that was the best option for them, but WAY too many autistic girls are being misdiagnosed as trans boys and put on puberty blockers and testosterone which they'll end up regretting.😕
@@ozzietad666 I have similar experience. I have autism and I feel that myself I am just me. I never given much thought to whether I am a man or female. I mean I know my body is female but inside I have no gender. And that is absolutely fine. I don't need to cut off my breasts to align my body to my mind because these are not connected. Wearing men clothes would and does not make me feel more masculine. So I am glad in my childhood it was not an option, otherwise I would have had doctors transition me when I was going through depression and Gothic stage
People with autism are human. We (I've lived with my autistic hb 52 years, worked in science (many autists there), in retrospect many of my family atypical. When you're poor the last thing a girl gets is "tizz" (jewellery, make up, pretty dresses) so you learn to do without. These people scream acceptance, rather than accepting themselves and others for who they are. And that the tizz, gloss and glamour is just as fringe as autism is, ah, but the profits in tizz, birthday cakes, and social functions is enormous. Think of the profits made from days not celebrated or done 50 years ago like they are today - birthdays, Valentines, Halloween, Gay Parades, green hair dye, make up, surgeries, hormones. The list is endless ... money, money, money makes the world go round, the cinking clanking sound of money, money, money (Cabaret film musical 1972). Only now it's the silent credit card.
Having therapy to explore your feelings to confirm if you need to transition to be comfortable in life should be rightly categorised as gender affirming care instead of whatever mess is going on now. How do you know if you should make life changing decisions without exploring the why thoroughly? You have to have the same therapeutic conversations before recieving medication for depression, bipolar, ect. (in ethical places at least) so why shouldn't the same be applied to dysphoria?
Gender affirming care is not about exploration, it means that as soon as a patient says they think they might be "trans", they are immediately affirmed in their belief. No exploration, no questioning, but a quick prescription for life-altering hormones.
This video is helping to restore hope that psychiatrists can be reasonable, rational and care about the patients. Plus he has great taste in rings. I’m autistic and my first counsellor tried to convince me I was gender fluid. Because of my black and white thinking I nearly fell for it and I was very confused for years. I was 28 when I had that experience. I never fit in with girls, growing up I was much more interested in my dad’s train set than Barbie’s. I also didn’t want to be female because being female meant I am sexually vulnerable. Until I had space to process the trauma I never felt connected to my body at all and it took me a decade to get that connection, understand my emotions and physical sensations.
An autistic 30 something man I know says he's a woman and I find out that his father abused him and was sexist and homophobic toward him for being more effeminate! Now he identifies as a woman after this trauma and somehow he's supposed to find comfort in being exactly what his father says he was instead of just being himself?? He's HOMELESS! He doesn't need to be worrying about gender identity, he needs to sort out his issues. It's insanity. This doesn't affect just kids. Autistic adults are also having a difficult time and are using trans as an answer to their issues, ignoring REAL help
How people express themselves and are happy shouldn’t concern you though, if someone’s happier as a girl, it’s their own thing to worry about. Being homeless doesn’t have much to do with different pronouns
The patterns are obvious. The person I was introduced to this movement through had a similar upbringing. A very sensitive guy who I suspect is mildly autistic. Very old school, emotionally distant parents. He was confused about his sexuality and this morphed into an obsessive belief that he could become the daughter they never had but had made clear they had wanted. It’s tragic. But the thing is, you can’t help these people. They are allergic to reason.
You and me both. They're being raised by a group of people who have seen and done everything and who are open and accepting of everything. What do these kids have to rebel against? Kids need to rebel, get push-back, upset the grownups to find their own way. With nothing to push up against, well, they found this. So sad
I always understood the social contagion side of it, but never considered the lack of sub-culture nowadays. It makes much more sense now, thanks for that.
Graham Linehan has said the same thing many times. His series The Mess We’re In is the best thing online about this subject. They really get into the psychology behind this bizarre epidemic.
Haven’t watched the video. But that title caught me off guard. Was just thinking how my version of this trans thing when I was a kid, was the Emo phase. Except very few people had permanent, life altering changes from that (except those disgusting ear holes). Now they have the option to ruin their body for life because they wanted to fit in.

It gave me a small glimpse into the HELL it must feel like for women (because it’s usually women) whose male partners decide in mid-life that they want to live out their fantasy and “become a woman”. I was for several years trying to help younger autistic adults to navigate living as an autistici person in our society. I gave up this spring, in huge part because I was not able anymore to stay silent about the gender stuff, but if I would have talked about in on by blog and RUclips channel, or in any public talk, I would have been canceled. I was totally confused as a young kid, teenager and young adult about my place in this world, because we autistic don't fit anywhere. Today, I'm a older adult, and I'm OK with not fitting anywhere. But my younger self was desperate for fitting.
100% on the money, we would mimic and wear many disguises to try and fit in. And it's actually quite humiliating looking back at these personas, knowing now that I didn't need to be anyone but myself. Don't care about fitting in. It's kinda nice living a simple life.
No, not “hey ho”. People in this topic are talking about serious things, and you take it upon yourself to make your contribution solely about how good one of them looks. That is deeply shallow, and distracting from the topic at hand.
It's easy to forget that the vast majority of kids and parents are going through all the same issues they always went through. This is an extremely small minority but it is a very interesting phenomenon.
OmG that what I has been thinking all the time. Trans are new emos. I was a teenager back then, and everyone was a little bit emo in my school, because "black+pink is soooooo beautiful". And only 3 teens were actually into emo and goth stuff and were seeing our counselor every week. From the whole school! This is just a trend and aesthetics and has nothing to do with medical condition in most cases. Teens are just being teens and doing teen things... That also explains "pansexuals", "asexuals" etc - not dangerous, you can be what you are without actually changing anything and you are still "trendy"
"...i was a got and my parents just humoured me..." thats fine...except that teens today have access to social media and noughties goths werent being advised to amputate body parts and they would feel better... 🤯
'Feminists' are not all of one mind. Many feminists are fighting hard for women's rights. Women's rights are human rights too. Many feminists would agree entirely with everything Julie says.
I'm glad that Julie is doing the rounds about the podcast as the bigger an audience it can reach the better as far as I am concerned. I loved the comment from the other guest about politicians. I have also come to the conclusion that people who are all for this craze just don't know all the facts surrounding it. It is not anti-trans to want to protect your child from a rash decision which will irreversibly change their lives. It would be interesting to me to know how many people in his psychotherapy groups were happily trans though I guess if they are happy they don't wish to attend psychotherapy? I am just curious to know. I personally think that some people do end up happier . I know some people that had a long journey to get there where everything including all the negatives were spelt out. That is how I think it should be. Not a "quick fix" or a "trend" or a way for autogynophiles to justify their perversions.
Give these kidsa DressUp box and let them pretend to be whatever they want to be. This whole gender thing is today's new fad. Problem is it's dangerous.
That is something I noticed a while back and have spoken about (very cautiously I might add in case of repercussions or becoming known as a bigot). In my life there has been Teddy Boys, Beatniks, Mods, Rockers, Hippies, Skinheads, Greasers, Punks, New Romantics, and yes Goths. All fads and fashion that most grow out of in adulthood. Now we have Trans the only fad in town for nearly a couple of decades. I am a fan of his music and he was a real phenomenon but I do wonder if Bowie has something to answer for. Youth appears to have run out of imagination and ideas . There is such a thing described as intersex caused by genetic defect which is very rare and is something quite separate and distinct from those pretending to be something they are not to compensate for various shortcomings in their personality.
Bowie played with being androgynous. He never represented his non-theatrical self as other than a man. Same with Boy George. Bowie's career began in the mid 60s and was all but over before this trend began. Much more likely is that social media and its addictive nature has killed natural imagination. It's a f......g tragedy.
One of my friends has a ten year old daughter (going on sixteen) who’s a big lover of music, fashion, glamour, boys , cars, scooters and she’s more like a Generation X. She thought exactly the same thing about subculture, the tranny/non-binary thing is just a subculture or marketing demographic. Rather she lamented: “These trannies are filling the vacuum left behind by the death of anything cool. I wish we had more mods, goths , bikers and even hippies. At least they have a belief system. They’d build up the pressure.” She’s quite interested in the mod scene, but she also likes the New York Dolls, Ramones and Blondie too.
Got into the goth scene around age 15-16 and 20+ years later I'm still in it. It's not a phase, unlike the trains. There's actually way fewer young subcultures right now it seems, at least not IRL or not visibly so. I was a teenager in the late 90s and early 00s and although it seems youth subcultures were slowly fading, at least the ones I associated with, but lumped together, every class had at least a couple "alternative" types.
Wow, you must have really young friends being a 40 year old goth, wearing makeup, listening to the cure, cosplaying and affecting a wistful, superior demeanour as you walk around train stations?
Broadly speaking, I think there's an intensity to one's attachment to a youth subculture that is absolutely a phase. I too was a goth in my teens (a few years before you - mid to late 80s) and spent a fair amount of time each day making absolutely sure that other people could not mistake me for anything other than a goth, and that I wouldn't be mistaken for someone 'normal'. These days? Bah, I can't be bothered with all that make up and hair dye and hair spray and precise adherence to strict clothing rules and wallowing in alienation. I've matured. I have many other interests these days that are nothing to do with goth subculture, and less time in which to do them. However, I still sometimes revisit some aspects of gothic culture that, in my teens, was my entire cultural landscape - weird, melancholic literature, occult symbolism, Fields of the Nephilim etc etc. It's the intensity of my attachment to those things that has changed. Of course, it doesn't happen that way for everyone, and that's fine. But, for most, I think that's generally the pattern.
Its just whays trendy to hate. Satanic panic and goths in the 80s, gay people in the 90s, muslims in the 2000s, trans people in 2020s. It will pass and people will find something else to hate and politicians will find somehting else to control them with
I concur with you, albeit that its well over thirty years for me. Naturally, I had other interests then and do today. However, that part of me remains as strong as ever.
@@billmartins5545 the vogue ballroom subculture pre-dates the goth subculture by nearly 30 years. The 1960s is when trans people like Crystal Labeija went on to establish the subculture known as ballroom where LGBT people of color originated the dance style of vogue and held pageants as well as where a lot of modern gay lingo comes from. During this time, Andy Warhol also had trans people like Candy Darling and Holly Woodlawn present in the Factory and Studio 54. Know your history. I am goth and trans--for nearly 20 years combined. I started my transition when I was in high school. I am now 30. Know your history. It is not productive to express personal narratives when they are rooted in historical inaccuracies. Goth subculture began in the late 70s, early 80s. Andy Warhol and other LGBT subcultures started in the late 50s. This is well-documented.
Im saddened that Dr Hakeem is no longer seeing gender patients. The trans cult must see this as a win. Why, when, and how did society cede so much power to this cult?
I actually think that the supposedly ex-goth psychiatrist makes quite a few good points, and I agree with much of what he is (trying) to say. However, he doesn't get his point across particularly well. Moreover, as someone who comes from the same direction as him, I take offence at a subculture moored in music but informed by art, literature and history being compared with a deep-rooted psychological set of issues that leads - in the most extreme cases - to mutilation and ruined lives in the name of medicine. There's quite a big difference there, to put it mildly. I understand that he is basically trying to argue that these young people are _not_ "transgender" and are merely searching for identity etc. Nevertheless, the comparison is a poor one. As an aside, I concur completely with the points made about the decline of the importance music-based "youth culture" as we have known it from the 1950s until, perhaps, the late 1990s or early 2000s. In many ways, I actually find that a more interesting topic than this one. As a further incidental comment, "goth" (for want of a better term) was never "cool". On the contrary, it was hated and derided by the music press, the arbiters of what was seen as "cool", who also saw the image (and imagery) as ridiculous. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what becomes of "The Spectator" under its new ownership and editorship.
I remember 10-15 years ago teen anorexia was such huge things, there were even clinics dealing with that issue. Nowadays, barely ever hear about it. I guess, trans/non-binary is more cool now
It's not. Left wing "gender critical" channels are swimming against the tide, but they exist. "Peak Trans", "King Critical", "Runaway Siren", "The Paradox Institute" or just about anything (thats not a hitpiece) that turns up if you search "radfem", are all left wing, and reject "gender" ideology. (that's not me personally endorsing them; I'm not really "left wing" or "feminist" myself; But I DO reject gender ideology, and follow channels from all over the political spectrum) But trans activists are especially vicious, in false-flagging two groups- Detransitioners, and gender-critical left wingers. It's the one rare case, where left-wing are often more censored than right-wing, so these channels tend have a short shelf-life.
"The new goth" ..... Hey, don't compare goth to trans. Goth is goth and trans is trans. You make it sound like trans is a goth movement, but it's not. People that turn goth turn goth for very different reasons than people are trans. I understand you're probably comparing goth to trans in the sense that they are both "things rebellious people do", but please be careful with the way you use words. The goth movement has been blamed enough for crap that isn't their fault. It's practically tantamount to racism. It's like saying because a black person committed a crime that all black people are criminals. Blaming "goths" is the same exact thing. Goths are people and are just as diverse as any other crowd. All you had to say is "Trans is a rebellious subculture" to get your point across. Don't rope in goths. I'm not saying I am against trans, but I don't think it's fair to keep making goths into targets. Also, I don't think goth is a phase. There are many people that are still goth until they are 60+. Is it a phase for some? Sure. "Anything is possible". That's like saying being a Christian is a phase. It sounds stupid. Obviously, some people stay Christians, and some people don't.
I am autistic. I grew up as a bisexual young woman in Australia. (Although Kathleen Stock would insist that I am not bisexual, because I am happily married to a man. After hearing Julie speak recently on a RUclips channel, I think she would insist that I was actually lesbian, because she thinks all women are secretly lesbian.) I fell in love with one of my teenage female friends. I used to look at myself in the mirror, and wonder if I could be with her, if I was a boy. I was sensible enough to realise that no, I couldn’t, as she would only ever see me as a girl. I also later on fell in love with one of my male classmates, and realised that I was bisexual. Of course I did not know I was autistic at that time. I didn’t find out until I was 56.
Fifteen uses of "I" in seven sentences may be a record for self absorbed written English. Try writing without using "I" once, I bet you can't. That's a problem.
Really interesting discussion. I found the analogy of a calculus equation and making a wrong turn in that process interesting. Above all this should about protecting children from harm. A toxic combination of an enabling parent, an activist clinician / clinical service and a vulnerable population of children has lead to this. In my view one of the most sinister periods for our society.
The Scottish Family Party published a book “Corrupting Young Minds” which illustrates the material used in sex/relationship classes in Scotland. Unbelievable content put in front of young children.
🙋♂ In the past, people self-diagnosing illnesses were considered to be foolish hypochondriacs. Now, a child can decide they are the wrong sex and their diagnosis is considered to be perfectly valid and immediately acted upon. 😵
@@tuemanoguei8155 I think you know what I meant. If people have some sort of a mental problem, they need therapy, not surgery. What if I identify as a suicidal, non-existing person? Should I be helped physically, or mentally?
I suspect female entry (and over representation) in teaching, Human Resources and bureaucracy might be part of the reason silly ideas don’t meet a hard stop with an authority figure. Women tend to be more consensual and concerned about “victims” and “feelings”. Most of the teachers who have been sacked for standing up to new left ideas about race, gender and Islam have been men.
Yes of course, that male want to impersonate women and invade spaces, that male invented postmodernism and extreme victim/oppressor mentality, that men started "sex changing" (no) surgeries, that men billionaires pretending to be women (and others) started funding the whole movement, that men harassed, sent deat* and r5pe threats to gender critical people, etc. All that can just be ignored to only point out women's responsability and say it's their fault I guess.
@LS-xs7sg What utterly misogynistic BS. It's mainly women who are the victims of this. Women whose spaces are being invaded by men with fetishes. Young women who are being told to cut off their breasts and destroy their fertility so someone else can profit. You think that's the result of female teachers and empathy??? No. It's the result of entitled men hating women having spaces men can't enter. Men who get a sexual kick out of invading those spaces. Men who can't stand women having the right to refuse them. Need I continue? This has NOTHING to do empathy. It's the absolute opposite of it.
Indeed. Regardless of whether the parents are conservative, Mormon, or Scientologists, they should still have the authority to pull their child out of this gender ideology.

Hello from USA. Our 37 yo daughter has debilitating autism as well as gender dysphoria. She is chemically transitioning and suffering many clinical side effects and seeking surgery, all the while, declining any therapy. Legally, there is nothing we can do to intervene.

So much wisdom, passion and advocacy - voices in the wilderness ❤❤❤ My stepdaughter has just announced she is "nonbinary" and we are to call her they/them...nope, not going to as it's the equivalent to me to calling her "it". I agree. To me, gender is what you apply to nouns in grammar. Conjures up past French and German lessons to me. A person has a sex. Biologically only two with very rare congenital difficulties but still a mixture of the two sexes. Anyone choosing to live as the opposite to their birth has to take cross hormones all their lives. Top surgery can help their image. Bottom surgery is hard to go through and not always desired. Puberty blockers can sterilise. Biological sex can’t be changed. Youngsters are being conned into voluntary sterilisation.
@@pamelagaull3928After 5 years on testosterone, most girls have to get an emergency hysterectomy because of atrophy or cervical fusing. They're sterilizing kids and getting away with it.
A therapist can ask those questions but if a parent does to anyone over 18, you get crickets. I've heard comments like " it's not my job to help you understand" and " Do your due diligence but I'm not a science project to interrogate".
It's because they don't have the answers, because they joined the cult with the one set of opinions. They never thought deeply about these things themselves to make up their own mind. "I'm not asking you to educate me on the theory, I just want to know how YOU'RE doing and how your life is going, because I'm your mother/father. But if you don't want much of a relationship with me right now, I'd be sad about it but it's your freedom to decide to pull away from family."
don't you think they get asked those questions a lot? it's not something they necessarily want to talk about, they talk about it to a therapist so they can transition, why would they tell you any of this. none of your business

If I lived in US I would be voting Trump. I often watch videos of the Senators. Ted Cruz, John Kennedy and other Republicans are of a calibre I can’t find anywhere among UK politicians. And of course with RFK on board who is set to challenge the food and pharmaceutical industries a Trump vote is the only way to go.
🤣@"epidemic of goths". As a psychotherapist myself (not to mention reasonable human being) I unreservedly endorse every word said by Az - and the redoubtable Julie of course.
I've always been interested in the psychology of people. I find it important for people to learn to accept themselves and others and this entire ideologie seems to argue the exact opposite, that reality bends to your selfcentered delusion. Children brainwashed by gender ideologies learn nothing and will grow up emotionally lobotomized.
Yes, people often regret their "freedom" to be anorexic, or to burn themselves with cigarettes, or slice up their arms with razors. Self mutilation (even via a predatory surgeon), and destroying healthy body-parts, for no evidence-based reason, because of weird, 100% evidence-free, pseudo-religious beliefs about "born in the wrong body" isn't about "freedom". It's about a harmful, authoritrian cult, who demand control over the speech of others, who censor, deplatform, bully and threaten (particularly targetting women), who mutilate (whether chemically OR surgically) perfectly healthy minors, who destroy the rights of women and girls, in eternal pursuit of the all-important "validation" of a complete fiction, which they demand that EVERYONE must pretend is "truth".
Trans rights are human rights. Goths are their own thing, being transgender is a gender identity, trans women (in our case diagnosed and under many years of carer before HRT or surugry) goths? That's a music and fashion subculture, I know a few trans people who've hid in the goth community as it gave them the freedom to come out as the goth community is friendly and you do get more tolerance of breaking sociletal norms so it does mean trans people can feel safe around goths. But our trans struggle is our own and personal in relation to sexuality and gender, and does not in no way conflate Goths with trans people one is a music based subculture the other is a protected sexual and gender characteristic under EHRC.
Either there's a nearly-world-wide conspiracy amongst medical organizations, or transitioning (in a variety of ways, in a variety of degrees, and with adequate caution) really is the most successful way to treat most patients reporting gender dysphoria according to the experts, according to the studies, when scrutinized without biases. The gender criticals tend to be able to point at exactly one thing: anecdotes. It's the same story since forever ago in different guises. The amount of dysinformation around gender-critical circles (about psychotherapy changing over 80% of gender dysphorics' minds for instance) makes it impossible for parents to see the big picture even if their specific children seem to be fine without any medical treatments in the end. I could tell you about all the people I know... but then that would just be more anecdotes, wouldn't it :P
the question is not whether transitioning is the best "treatment" for gender dysphoria (it really seems to be), the question is whether all those people claiming to be dysphoric are really dysphoric. If some girl wants to transition to a boy because she feels uncomfortable when older men look at her developing breasts, the real issue is not the girl's negative feelings towards her body, it's the men staring at her. A friend of mine (really tomboish, slim young woman) never uttered feelings of true gender dysphoria (also regarding her body) but just said "I don't like wearing dresses, it makes me feel weak" and apparently took that (and some other rejectional feelings towards stereotypically feminine behaviour) as a reason to go be a boy. I'd argue she just has a backwards view of femininity she does not want to adhere to.
@@niji.sateenkaari8835 Yeah, and so the necessity of medical evaluation will remain, of course, just as long as we understand that the figures show minimal regret as it is, and that the main problem we're facing is the limitation of, not too easy access to, trans-affirmative care. (I, again, will avoid any and all anecdotes cause we can do better than that.)
Glad you are happy. I don't think anyone is saying that it is wrong for everyone; just that the organisational push has become excessive and that the "trend" aspect nowadays can be harmful to many impressionable and damaged youngsters.

Despicable how RUclips has a link to the Trevor Project referring to "conversion therapy" under this video!
I will only be happy when many people go to jail for this crimally obseen act that thay have inflicted on our young
Life is not isolating outside of social media - get out and find community in real life, opportunities are out there.
This man is what a therapist should be.
I’m autistic and had a firm identity as a “not a girl” tomboy from very very young. Even my teddy is a boy in a dress who I got very cross if anyone misgendered him - from about age 2 (I was born in 1970)
So while I agree that the social contagion has escalated this in autistic kids- I think people should also be aware that not only the social nonconformity - many of us autistic people just barely identify as human let alone a gender role.
But also- there could be prenatal hormonal effects ( my mum was given weekly hormones to prevent miscarriage with me )
Fortunately I also had some former “spiritual “ type beliefs - so I just decided I feeeeel like I have a boy brain BUT I have the body I have.
Also- with autism there is already anxiety and depression often- and processing feelings etc. so if I’d had all that extra stuff to deal with - plus meds or medical appointments etc
I was aware my kids being on the spectrum they could have had similar feelings- so I made sure as they grew up they knew they could mess around with doing what they liked- and it didn’t make them a girl if they played dress ups- or had feelings.
Exactly, as youngsters we can't even identify as humans, let alone feel like we're part of our gender or understand that gender non conformity is OK.
Wonderful broadcast. Dr. Az is absolutely brilliant. 🇦🇺

I've always thought this. If I went back to college in 2002, the goth kids then, would be the trans kids now.. also the drama kids would have a few..

The teenage subculture arguement is totally spot on. So obvious to me.
I've just watched the film Through the Looking Glass about trans widows and it was so powerful and made me actually weep. We must keep on talking and talking and speaking and sharing.

The pain I experienced when I found out about these feelings he’d been having and his determination to change his body was indistinguishable from grief. It gave me a small glimpse into the HELL it must feel like for women (because it’s usually women) whose male partners decide in mid-life that they want to live out their fantasy and “become a woman”. Or for what their children must feel.
It’s grief mixed with confusion and betrayal. Like you’ve been cheated on, or the person you thought you knew and loved had been living a double life all this time.
Do not diminish those experiences. Those feelings are real.

Dude ‘s right hand suggests he’s still a goth x
"...i was a got and my parents just humoured me..."
thats fine...except that teens today have access to social media and noughties goths werent being advised to amputate body parts and they would feel better...
Super conversation! Thank you!

It seems to have become very big and widespread in a very short period of a few years, although I do realise it's been around forever in a smaller way
The Goth comparison is spot on .
Only complaint: this was far too Short an Interview!!!
it's a cult, and the ultimate accessory for the chattering classes.
I remember 10-15 years ago teen anorexia was such huge things, there were even clinics dealing with that issue. Nowadays, barely ever hear about it. I guess, trans/non-binary is more cool now
Such a shame that important issues such as this are only discussed on right wing channels.
(that's not me personally endorsing them; I'm not really "left wing" or "feminist" myself; But I DO reject gender ideology, and follow channels from all over the political spectrum)
But trans activists are especially vicious, in false-flagging two groups- Detransitioners, and gender-critical left wingers.

I grew up as a bisexual young woman in Australia.
(Although Kathleen Stock would insist that I am not bisexual, because I am happily married to a man.
After hearing Julie speak recently on a RUclips channel, I think she would insist that I was actually lesbian, because she thinks all women are secretly lesbian.)
I fell in love with one of my teenage female friends.

Am I the only one who can hear something/someone snoring in the background? haha

On top of all, no person has a say in this besides me. Welcome to the 21 century hehehe ^.^
Glad you are happy. I don't think anyone is saying that it is wrong for everyone; just that the organisational push has become excessive and that the "trend" aspect nowadays can be harmful to many impressionable and damaged youngsters.
