In California the first course of sheathing has to tie the joist system to the wall system. This would be good in tornado or hurricane country as well.
You can use screws instead of nails in case you wanna take a panel off for some reason? The using nails to space the panels 1/8" apart is brilliant. My garage has the panels butted tight up against each other.
In regards to hanging the Osb vertically , should I leave a gap in the ceiling for future Osb or drywall to rest over the top of it or should I run the vertical Osb to the top? Thank you.
In several locations, the sheathing is required by code to have a drop below the mud sill... What do you guys recommend in this case - where the nail solution will not work?
Hi, i want to make some walls with OSB, but which side go on the inside, and which on the outside please? (there is a side with bigger wood parts, and the other side there are smaller parts). I will put polystyrene on both sides to insulate it anyway, but in general which is the part that has to be the inside of the wall? Thank you
The music is so annoying it's so loud it needs to be lowered when recording Is that what you can hear the voice instead of that distracting music in the background that's just as loud if not louder than the voice
Drywall goes on the inside of the building, sheathing on the outside. It can be covered with siding, stucco, or other exterior finish panels. Or just leave it covered with tar paper like my neighbor!! haha
A couple of reasons. It isn't as strong as a sway brace, and especially on a garage, it is easier to repair by pulling off a lower panel where the damage will occur and replace it.
Bodhi Bunker Span rating stamp 24 / 16. When used horizontal on roof deck ok to be used on rafter or truss spans of 24 inches. On vertical walls using it for shear panel diaphragm or typical wall bracing stud spacing 16 inches. You really should have known!!!!

The person who built my condo could have learned from this video. I never seen so many misses

As do most for inside sheeting.
Should the APA stamp face the inside or outside of the building?
Thank you for you sharing your knowledge
Does it matter if panels are used horizontally or vertically?
As a chess-board are.
I think I would have cut a new timber at 4.00 especially for a video. If he had used a Hultafors Talmeter it would have been spot on.
put sheet at bottom of floorbox to tie walls to floorbox. way stronger
Can I use two layers of 1/2" osb in place of 1 layer of 3/4" osb? It's both thicker and cheaper.
Filling strips shoud be up not down down you need to get some of the 2x10 boards with the 4’x8’ osb sheet

why the music distraction?

The side with the labeling goes on the inside and the side with the pre marked lines goes on the outside.

so can i drop the sheathing down about 2" to 3" inches to overhang the concrete on a 18" wall?
you'd be better using a 2 foot wide strip of treated exterior ply wood as your first course in that case, then continu the rest of your wall using osb
I'm assuming that 4x8 means it's 4ft wide and 8 wide long. I'm new to this!
aynsley Bell don't be fooled. 4x8 don't mean 4x8. always measure wood first. it'll never be the dementions you expect
I watch video to help me in class 👍
spaces with nails, ?
for wood expansion?
ok. so can be covered with drywall mud?

@@philrabe910 your neighbor had it better than what we came to!
why not install panel vertically?

Good video
annoying music!
Hey can anyone point me to a good video with handy tips for cutting/laying out sheathing on gable ends?
Why do video producers feel the need to play repaetative music behind a voice over? It's painful
Hmmm. I think the music is a great idea. Holds my attention better. Each to his own.
Dip the entire wall in tyre shine!
can anyone tell me the difference between sheathing and sheeting?
+Luis Rivas none
u sheet a bed, u sheath a house
U Sheet the ROOF. Walls get sheathing.
There is no difference.
I dont understand what span ratings are?!?
+MrMilanROX Space between studs. Studs are spanned, or spaced, 16 inch on center.
Or 24" with 2x6's

Thanks background music, I didn't want to hear the instructions anyway.

4x10 foot vertically...no air gaps
