    🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.
    I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.

      You should really work with a translator. You’re misusing the word “overweight” here and it comes off offensively when I do not think you intend it to be. Even just having a script editor could help.

    I appreciated a comment in a previous video that explained that finding THE ONE type was not as important as knowing what does NOT work. I am 5'11" and waiver between dramatic and flamboyant natural styles. But I have eliminated all flowy fabrics, cropped jackets, and overly drapey clothes thanks to Aly. Much happier with my wardrobe, hair, and makeup. Multiple style types make it fun - so confusion is not an issue!

      @JS-dv9ji 3 года назад +12

      A person can be at a healthy weight, over their healthy weight, or under their healthy weight. These are facts. I sincerely worry that we may unintentionally contribute to the stigma by making it a "bad word". Mean people will be rude and judgmental no matter what word we use, right?. And they're just as mean when someone is underweight. We don't have to accept their negativity! Let them keep it. 😘 ❤

    Edit: now I think I'm a SC, it explains better my weight gain pattern
    I'm an overweight TR and indeed my face, upper arms and thighs are super soft and fleshy, while the lower arms and calves remain slim. The midsection is tricky: from the front I still have some waist definition, but from the side I look 4-5 months pregnant. I find it crucial to have waist emphasis in clothes, if not I look like I'm wearing a barrel.

And if we dressed for “Apple” body type, flamboyant naturals and romantics might be dressing the same and losing what makes our bone structure type unique! Not to mention that more than one type can have an hourglass shape. Kibbe’s system has so much more going on.

    Some of this can change with age, as far as where the weight accumulates. Post menopausal overweight tends to be more in the torso and tummy/waist/back. When I was younger I was pear shaped- my hips and butt and thighs were where my fat collected. After age 50 I am more rectangle shaped. My hips and butt got smaller. Knee high boots that use to be too tight on my calves are now loose on my calves. I went down a size or two in jeans but I have less of a defined waistline. And I think this is common for women after age 50, lower estrogen levels are the cause. I do feel that plus size and older women are usually not included in the type examples so it is harder to figure out our types. Celebrities in general are young and thinner than average, and celebrities are most of the examples I see.

  • @blueice011
    @blueice011 4 года назад +233

    Of course it's confusing. According to Kibbe, gaining weight in lower part of the body is yang (masculine) feature, which in reality is more of a female (yin/feminine) trait to carry weight in bum, hips and ties. Men, on the contrary, gain weight in upper half of the body - torso mainly (belly, back, chest) which is a main reason why men live shorter than women and are more prone to heart and vascular conditions. That's why broad upper part of the body (shoulders, chest, waist) is yang/masculine and wide hips, ties and bum is more yin/feminine feature. But, when gaining weight, it all seems completely inverted. It just makes less and less sense to me. Wide hips and bum is not male constitution, it's female. Broad shoulders and back/chest is not so much female feature, is more masculine. I would expect that women with yang/masculine bone structure/flesh gain weight like men do an vice versa.

    • @gittevandevelde2208
      @gittevandevelde2208 4 года назад +87

      I think you should see the weight gain patterns less as 'yang weight gain' and more as 'lack of yin weight gain'. All women, from dramatic to romantic, are women: so they will tend to be somewhat pear-shaped nonetheless. That's just female biology. But women with yin flesh are fleshy to begin with, they have boobs and soft fleshy arms and soft cheeks etc. So they gain weight in that yin 'soft all over' pattern, in the softest fleshiest part of the body, while yang woman don't become 'even softer and fleshier', they just get the baseline female cus hormones that make us pearshaped-'pearshaped weight gain', does that make sense? They don't have that all over fleshyness to begin with so they just gain weight in the typically female way as that is the only way to, while yin women are *already* fleshy and become even fleshier in the fleshy parts, which is also arms etc.

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 4 года назад +14

      @@gittevandevelde2208 Thank you for your interesting input. It does make lots of sense, however, I tend to gain weight as men do, being very fleshy SD (bust size 36H, waist/bust difference 25''). Sure, when I'm overweight I tend to gain in ties and upper arms as well, however, my chest, back and belly are most affected beside face. I would expect that FN's or D's gain weight in similar manner. Becoming more squarish and broader all over (D) or in upper half of the body which is already more pronounced (swimmer built) for FN's. But I get your point. Thanks again.

    • @lux3370
      @lux3370 4 года назад +34

      But we are talking about women here. Yang is not equal to men in Kibbe system. Yang weight gain pattern is just "not yin".

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 4 года назад +7

      @@lux3370 Of course. But, if we have two principles - yin and yang, and if something is not yin - what is it then? We talk about women who have yang/masculine-like bone structure and/or flesh. Me included (yang bone structure). We can play with terminology, but yang is male/masculine principle..Tall, strong, sharp, angular, broad, dry, long, square.

    • @lux3370
      @lux3370 4 года назад +11

      @@blueice011 It's basically the same as a yang dominant type (like D, FN, Or FG) won't automatically have a completely straight figure. We are females and most of us starts with a baseline of curves. The same logic applies to yang weight gain pattern: we shouldn't expect it to be the same to an actual man in every case, because we are women.

Gain weight all over but seems to show mostly in stomach area, however bust and hips gain equally. Modeled when younger but at 5’5” a little short for runway. Always leaned toward matching tailored clothes and athletic - matching, of course, outfits. I can carry off a doubled breasted, tailored blazer, slim pants and flats or heels. Have always stayed away from large chunky jewelry. Thanks for helping me realize why there are clothes that I run from and others suit me overall. I'm a textbook dramatic classic. The makeup, hair and clothes apply to me exactly. My height is 5'5(165cm) and my weight is 154lb(70kg). I am overweight, but whenever someone guesses my weight they guess a surprisingly low number. Or if I tell them my weight they are always surprised. This is consistent with all my friends, family and even strangers. I live in Korea and most people are extremely conscious of weight so I do not think it is an error on their behalf. Although I do drastically change when I gain weight it doesn't seem that noticable until I show them before and after pictures side by side.I was wondering if any other dramatic classic had this experience and if it could be a trait that all dramatic classics have.

      ok I don't care about kibbe at all so - disclaimer, but as an hourglassy human who doesn't like to dress femme all the time - layered lines on top (high neck sports crop under a scoop neck for example). Also oversized fits that hit almost to your knee (seriously. I'm only 5'2" but some of my fave looks are oversized, just about knee length, with very light shaping around the waist so it doesn't OVERemphasize my bust/waist by drowning them). Pair that with some combat boots and you're set. I'm often wearing an oversized hi-low crop T (I usually just cut them myself), a closer fit cami as a midlayer, and a looser pant or skinny jeans depending on the mood. Toss a bomber or an oversized blazer over that, and boom. Also material matters a lot - you want something that skims (silk, linen, tencel), not clings to you and not something that stands apart from you completely. It de-emphasizes my curves without me being obvious about it. I'm rarely going for full androgyny- I'm not trying to pass as NB or male so grain of salt on this advice, depending what your goal is- but this gets me pretty far within the kind of queer that I am, even though it doesn't match what's supposedly flattering for my body type (which is essentially a small beyonce shape, for reference).

      What helped me determine my body shape, was taking a picture and then tracing the outline of my body, it helps you blend out everything, that would blur the shape or make you insecure
      If you still can't figure it out you can also trace the shape of someone who is SD/FN and compare it to your own, the most noticable difference would be that FN look much wider in the upper Torso (not boobs, but the rib cage like all naturals do, slightly above the boobs and shoulders) and the waist is straighter,wider and longer compared to SD
      The first thing you should notice for both body types is a long horizontal line, if you still can't see that, with drawing the outline you could also be a tall N for example, that's possible, too
      For angular shapes - it usually looks more "bony", I'm FN and a bit underweight right now, but my shoulders still look blunt, because its not flesh that makes them look more blunt, but the muscles and thicker bones
      I also look like I have an 11-Pack, as it's called despite not working out in the slightest lol

      @@jillianm8958 FN can have any size bust. The most important thing about FN is the T shape created by their vertical body line and strong shoulders. FN can have quite a bit of variation; thin, curvy, big or small bust; because the deciding factor is the T silhouette.

      this is when you compare good photo of you to other dramatics. its impossible to view yourself in your head and analyze it correctly. its difficult to do with just a photo of yourself. if you are confident and will not compare yourself to other women. i would put my photo next to a thin romantic, dramatic, natural etc. etc. marilyn monroe is a good choice because she is romantic but she is also quite thin. audrey hepburn is a flamboyant gamine and is quite thin. even being underweight, you still have areas of your body where you are carrying more flesh. i am 5' feet, and when i was 85 pounds i still carried all my weight on my butt and thighs. now i am 130 pounds and still, most my weight is on my butt and thighs. you can also take measurements and see where you are largest, bust, waist, and butt. are your hands long and narrow or short and stout? same with your feet. is your body a square or a rectangle. do your cheeks have visible hollow sections? i know when i was 85 pounds i still didn't have hollow cheeks. are your shoulders rounded or square? do you have pointy nose? is the tip of your nose pointy? do you have pointy, round, or square jaw? is your jaw highly defined or is it rounded and subtle? when you look at picture of you (not taken at an angle), draw a straight line from the edge of your shoulder down to the edge of the photo, are you shoulders wider than your hips? do your hips bones protrude from the front of your torso? are your arms or legs thicker at the top compared to the bottom? these are the things you need to look at, not just "well damn, i dont have any flesh"

    I think I just figured out why I have struggled finding my Kibbe type for years now. He has types for top/bottom narrowness, he has types for top/bottom balance, He has types for top/bottom width ... and most importantly he has types for width in the top only ... but no types for width in the bottom only ... us naturally pear shaped women are left out. Perhaps in the kibbe test of D/E was seperated instead of grouped together ... this would be a new type in the system. I can't speak for everyone but with some yang in my face a lot of yin elements are too much and overwhelming while very yang elements do not account for the extreme yin in my lower body curve. So far some soft classic lines have been the most helpful because they are subdued and balanced. And due to weight gain in the upper body I appear more balanced at this point. Also after much thought the kibbe system could benefit foom making additional clothing recommendations for all the types to accommodate those with a larger bustline.

      She specifically spent around a minute or two explaining that the celebrities" photos were used to mirror the resource she uses to describe the body type and that not all were examples of them as overweight . She was very clear about that.

    I see most Flamboyant Gamines getting apple-shaped with weight gain (Kelly Osbourne, older Kate Bush, Liza Minelli), the whole torso area and the face gets very full and fleshy...Jennifer Love Hewitt is one of the very rare pear-shaped FG who gains most of her weight only in her lower body.

    Everything tells me I'm a soft natural! It's so odd seeing famous people with my body type looking good even while bigger, as I always think of my body type as undesirable. But I guess it's just my personal insecurity.

    I’ve been overweight since early childhood. After losing some weight and trying to find my type, it has been hard. I was looking through photos and noticed my mom’s body type when she was young compared to how she looked before she passed away almost 20 years ago. My overweight body looks like her overweight body (I’ve lost to her “overweight” size) and I have her bone structures even with how she carried he excess weight. Looking at old photos of me with new eyes is also helping me see my type and what looks good on me.

    I'm sure now I'm soft dramatic, I couldn't differentiate between it and soft natural, because my cheekbones are actually very soft, the most helpful was video about makeup for different types and I can't deny that sd is so flattering

      Ruby Problem I’m stuck between those types too. I seem to have a mix of features from both sides. I have a natural nose and broad shoulders, but a narrow face and long limbs. This video didn’t help, as I lose and gain weight pretty evenly all over. I do lose waist definition when I gain weight though.

    Can you do one for underweight? I feel like I'm SD but most SDs are always pictured slightly heavy and with very wide hips which I don't have. Im curious to see what a thinner SD would look like just so I can be sure. Ty!

    • @bethanyday3471
      @bethanyday3471 3 года назад

      you gotta go by the flesh. Soft dramatic has a yin skeleton and yang flesh. even very thin women with yang flesh will look more rounded instead of very taught. are your bones long and sharp? better yet, just try on soft dramatic clothes. see if they look good on you. soft dramatic is a very SPECIFIC sort of body. yang bones, yin flesh. you gotta train your eye to see the difference. being thin wont affect the way your flesh lays. i have weighed both 85 and 140 pounds, the flesh on my cheeks has always layed the same way. there was just more or less of it. i have moderate cheeks, cant say they are rounded and cant say they are dry. i am some sort of classic. you might be some sort of natural. take a picture of yourself (not one that makes you look taller by having the photog sit on the floor) and put it next to other soft dramatics and see if you can pick out the yang skeleton and yin flesh. im gonna guess your likely a natural.

    I'm 5'9 and sorry I identify myself as Dramatic Classic (DC) even though 5'9 is already considered a long vertical line and tall and the only option is Dramatic, Soft Dramatic, and Flamboyant Natural which is not applicable to my other characteristics. I look a little fleshy for Dramatic (D), Narrow for a Flamboyant Natural (FN)(even I have a broad shoulders), and lanky for Soft Dramatic (SD). Everything in my features (body flesh and facial features) are balanced but my bone structure leans toward to Soft Yang which to be identified as Dramatic Classic (DC).
