    I' ve been using Ecostyler for 10 years (not everyday though) and have never had all these reactions folks are saying they had. While not a hair chemist, I'm a chemist in real life, and just don't freak out about a lot of stuff. Practically anything is carcinogenic if you consume or use too much of it.

    I make my own flaxseed gel, I also make my own soap and lotion as well as blend -up my own shea butter cremes for the girls's hair and skin; yes it is work but I know what is in it. But just like everything else you have to have time for making your own stuff. Folks don't want to pay the money for all natural stuff made in small batches and then they go buy the lower priced brand name items for convenience then complain about what is in it.

    • @Princess0ftheLight
      @Princess0ftheLight 5 лет назад +11

      Yes, this here is the truth. This is also the reason I started making my own beauty products as well because I noticed the lower priced hair products have crap ingredients.

      I would have to agree, and of course, if someone has a reaction, then they should discontinue using it. I don’t think anyone assumed ES was an all natural product, so it’s difficult to see what all the fuss is about.

    I don't know why people act like you can't have bad reactions to natural products too. My grandfather used to practice medicine and I remember he would tell me about different ways we treated conditions and diseases before modern medicines came about and I got to thinking, if "natural" products were the best thing you can ever have ever, we wouldn't have had to develop the artificial stuff in the first place. Not that natural doesn't have its place in the world but it's okay to use either type of products if it's working for you.

    Can I say 50 thumbs up!!! Of course, any product we use we should be mindful if we feel discomfort, ect ect. I found Shea Moisture products at the end of end of the Shea Moisture Ad Controversy here on the Tube. Tubers were quitting Shea Moisture. I was oblivious to the controversy, at the time, but I LOVE me some Shea Moisture! Saved my hair! Nobody, but nobody, is keeping me away from my Shea Moisture!! I admit, after being personally attacked, for being white and using Shea Moisture, I was careful to admit Shea Moisture is my Love! (I have always felt welcomed and appreciated on this channel, btw) Anyway, people should rely on common sense, fact and personal experience. The only gel I own is Shea Moisture High Porosity Gel. Eco style gel.....it's a gift and a curse...lets go waaay back to 1993. When I was in cosmetology school once a week my classmates would do a product mini seminar on the pros and cons of certain products. Back then it was the battle between Queen Helene, Eco Style and Ampro gels mainly because in 1993 fingerwaves and scrunches was the flavor of the year. Some of my classmates and I agreed that Eco Style gel had a very "gummy" consistency, flaked like crazy and weighed the hair down. it also was a bad product to use when doing fingerwaves and gel sets alike because it would "melt" when the client is under the dryer. It's almost like Jam by Soft-Sheen Carson. If a client wants to tame her edges without getting "hard" Eco style is good for that because back then it didn't contain alcohol, which is the base "holding" factor in most hair gel products

      @GetGlamFam  6 лет назад +6

      There is so much win in this comment and I have SO much love for it! Thanks! Yes! Back then, options were limited and it seemed like everyone was using ampro! It’s crazy to me that so few people talk about ampro these days!

    Thanks so much for this, Linwood. As someone who suffers from alopecia from an auto-immune disease, my issue has been finding products that don’t trigger more hair loss. My skin is clear, my natural nails are long, I am a diabetic so I am very conscious of what I eat. I find that there are products that cause severe itching which is one of the first triggers and it happens with any product - all natural or with additives. Eco was one such product and finding hair gel is very difficult for me. Bri Hall just brought some areas to light and I think the community just ran with it. My search continues for something that works that doesn’t impede my hair regrowth and I look forward to watching all of your videos. Stay blessed.❤️🌹

    Thanks for the information Lin. I personally don't use it because it doesn't work on MY natural 4C hair. If it did, I would use it. As you've stated, if people are going to cancel out this, they have to cancel out everything with chemicals and go straight naturalistic with everything. Everything includes food, body & haircare, household cleaning products, clothing & shoes, paints, pesticides, lawn care, and the list goes on and on and on. So people, stop trippin. If you like it, use it. If you don't like it, then stop using it. It's not rocket science. ❤️

    Thanks so much...its always a blessing to hear truths and not just something people want bto hear because of their vanity...Pro-style gels are awesome come in many formulas so you won't get the brown flaking. They are very inexpensive and can found at you local 99¢ Stores and Dollar Tree! Also it's also a harmless protein gel! Mind you I'm only using a very small amount after I moisterize my hair all over, then I use the gel on the edges, on a part, mostly when I'm wearing a lace front! The gel blends with skin tones and holds the edges down "very well" without moving the unit around...yes, even the wind won't make it budge...! At the end of the day (up to a couple of days) just wet your edges with plain water, the gel is loosed, no pulling, no poison chemicals going into your "brain", and you still have your edges! I found an alternative to the poisonous edge glues since they are NOT made to touch your skin at all! They are NOT hypo-alleglic formulas due to contact dermatitis to chemicals and it saved my edges my health and life for over 15 yrs! These wig glues are practically the same to use super glue! Nasty stuff...

    Interesting enough I'm watching this video for the first time (I've been seeing the thumbnail for the past week or so) one day after watching a video of Trevor Noah's thoughts on people burning their sneakers and such in protest of a certain sport apparel manufacturer's campaign. He essentially made the same point that you did about individuals concentrating on this one product or brand but your continuing to use or buy into brands/companies when you don't know of or choose to ignore what they put in their products or what they stand for/against. I use the Olive Oil one in the green jar as shown. It is one of the best products I have found that works for me with what I want it to do for everyday. I actually started using it as an alternative to using any of the styling producs from the DevaCurl line as I'm allergic to one of their "natural botanical" ingredients that is in every one of their products across all their lines. I can see why a particular fragrance would cause issues but not fragrance in general. Looking at you honeysuckle and west indian lemongrass...😒

Thankfully just discomfort that benadryl and ibuproufin can take care of once I figure out what the problem is until all of it is gone from myself and environment. Part of why I can't work a makeup counter anymore is exposure to ingredients and I always like to counter the Young Living natural products pushers that most allergies and irritants are plants way to get us to stop using them. It's too hard for my liking. I know that's the purpose lol but I almost have to wash my hair the next styling to get it out, if not it will break my hair off. Separating that so-called baby hair ("its just hair baby" haha)on some hair breaks off instead of blending that "baby hair" together to grow with the rest of the hair its one of the reasons I've seen loved one edges leave. Sometimes gel isn't needed on the regular for every style. Only from what I've seen personally. Thanks again. GlamFlam member here!

    Linwood, thank you so very much for this video. I don't use any of the Ecostyler gels. I make my diy Flaxseed gel that I learned from RUclipsrs. It's cheaper, healthier and you can add whatever essential oils that you like. The hold is great and I have no flaking. It works for me and I'm glad. Again, thanks for your input about the Ecostyler gel cancel hype. I Love You Too Boo!💞🙏😍

    Edta is a surfactant. Not harmful and quite common. Most people are ok with it, no need to generally vilify it. If it's a problem for you don't use it but most people can.

    I've recently had a few friends ask me about this. And I didn't know how to phrase it all I could tell them was its all in the chemistry and composition make up of most products. I told a couple, I wouldn't be too worried about that gel, but more concerned about that shampoo and conditioner you're using. TY this helps me explain it to them. I use to use an Ecostyler gel for curly hair. I liked it, never had an issue with it. But I found a Redken I like more. Turned my waves into bouncy curls.

    Excellent video Boo!! Thank you for sharing your view on that gel. I think if we all read the labels on the products we buy, we would see there's something in everything we eat and use on our bodies. Dr.Afrika stated in one of his video"if it has a label should you really be using it🤔.." I'm not on a super natural kick. I just want to be aware of what I'm exposing myself and my children to. So Thank you and have a fabulous day! It's Juneteenth weekend and I need to get in the mix💃🕺💃🎉🎉

    I don’t like using gel in my hair, because of their chemicals, also if they have Animal by products, I am Vegan, cruelty free. I did try Shea Moisture gel in the jar, it’s says natural and cruelty free, and V. Their gel doesn’t hold my hair, it fells more like a moisturizer. I haven’t used them in a while, now i damp my hair add Shea butter and put it up in a bun.

    That stuff is strong enough to lay down my curls, but it makes my head itch, flakes up my leave-in conditioner and overall dries my hair out. What do you use to hold down your curls? Thanks for all your hard work and information, I trust you and greatly appreciate your opinions and recommendations. Plus you’re easy on the eyes, so that helps! You and your family are adorable and I wish y’all all the happiness and blessings you can handle.

I"m not using The Eco Styler, but I am ready to explore the Extreme Gel of which you have identified as one of your personal favs. What leave in conditioner do you personally use when and if you do a wash and go? Better yet, which has been most satisfying for your 3c/4a clients who do wash and go(s)?

      Some people don't like the heavy formulations. I have personally watered down some products, so i'm happy to find lighter ones that i can use. So what if other ethnicities can use them too? They're great products, everyone should enjoy them. If it improves their sales, great, they deserve success.

      Elizabeth Kanyua I’m confused as to what your point is? No one is downplaying them, we just agreed that their products have changed and it no longer works for OUR HAIR. If it works for you great, use them but go post on someone’s comment who agrees with you, it’s like your picking a fight to argue for no reason 🤷🏽‍♀️
