I appreciate this tutorial. It was well paced and you communicated well for someone who just recently got a backwards compatible PS3 and refurbished it myself for PS3, PS2 and PS1 game use. I'm in Australia so my PS2 games I kept from my childhood and early teen years didn't work on it so I needed to jailbreak it and it works. The only thing is the website for flashing while using the PS3 took a few tries every time I used it and certain icons were missing that you had while on the webpage. Luckily the process was all the same. I now have a PS3 that plays 3 generations of games and can now do homebrew and will hopefully last me years to come.

I especially loved when you covered the basics (unzipping). I didn't get stuck at any moment of the video which surprised me. I see today that this changed a bit on the Toolset. They now have a System Manager tab and everything that was done under Memory Manager is now done there in case anyone else has questions. Excellent vid as always MrMario!

One of the best, if not THE BEST, online tutorial on install CFW. Followed the directions, which are clear without any questions, and had CFW installed on my 80GB FAT PS3 with zero issues. Anyone who is intimidated by the thought of installing CFW on your PS3, do not hesitate to try this method. *The ONLY problem I had was using ps3xploit tool but that was because of the website, not because of the guide. If you have an issue without the file loading through the web browser, shut everything down and come back the next day. There is a good chance that the website is down. I drove myself crazy for about two hours wondering why it worked one minute and then the next it didn't.* Currently running 4.88CFW COBRA with Multi-Man. THANKS!

You shouldn't really be using the md5 that comes with the downloaded file. The main reason for "signing" your software/file is to tell whenever or not it has been modified by a 3rd party. Suppose there was a breach and the download site got compromised in some way. Whoever changed the .pup file could've also changed the md5.txt to match the newly modified .pup file.

Found my old fat PS3 when I was throwing out my old closet. I remember I got the super slim when the bluray drive on it died, so I guess I could use this and play all the cool old multiplatform games, since I prefer it over the 360. Just so you know, the Playstation 3 Toolset website no linger has the option called Flash Memory Manager... It's been changed to System Manager.
Yep, menu change there but the steps are the same.

Thanks for this, I followed your HEN tut for my mates PS3, I ran into issues, would get it fixed until the constant crashing, PS2 games not wanting to work (another video of yours I followed) so then I found out about this CFW..I'm like...ooof I should of done this ages ago... Multiman hasn't crashed yet...now I'm just transferring all the games and such over and hopefully its all good...I was gonna hack my super slim with HEN but after what I got with my mates PS3...I went and bought a pre-owned PS3 Phat....I don't need that stress and annoyance in my life xD I got enough xD
