Flicks And The City I would have loved to have seen Fillion's cameo. I just hope it gets onto the Blu Ray. And it was sad to hear that David Bowie could have been a part of it if he hadn't passed. He would have been brilliant I'm sure. As for Yondu... I feel rather satisfied by his story arc. The ending was a gutsy move by Gunn and I'm glad he stuck to his decision, even though I love Yondu.
Fingers crossed some of the deleted scenes make it on to the Blu-ray! Feel the same way about Yondu too, Elizabeth. Very sad but very well done. And also so sad about David Bowie too.
Concept Arts always tend to pay homage to the comics and they are kind of the deleted scenes which were left in the cutting floor. Ego from the comics kind of looked like Kurt Russell. The Golden drones that were remotely operated was perfect as they don't really risk there lives to go after there enemies. Wonder Woman was a prominent character in the short lived Avengers Assemble that aired on Fox Kids tv back in the late 90's.
They also didn't show the dialogue with Ayesha saying "I see it within you, Fear, jealousy, betrayal..." which didn't make the final cut of the film but was shown in the trailers, tv spots, promos.
Flicks And The City it was great just the way it was in my opinion but would be nice for special features and deleted scenes! I hoping we get as well :)
After watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 several times, this has become my favorite movie. This movie was an emotional rollercoaster that shifted gears on several of the characters: Yondu went from lovable pirate -- to awful guy who delivered kids to be killed off -- to a man who tried to right his wrongs and save the only family he ever had; Nebula went from murderous sidekick -- to angry, lashing-out sister -- to a chick who longed for the intimacy of a family and would fight to keep her new family; Ego who went from handsome, interstellar traveler and all-around cool guy who seemed to want to create a family -- to a greedy godling who used others to try to control galaxies -- to a dad who was willing to kill off his only offspring; then there's Groot who went from sacrificing himself to save his newly-formed family -- to being a toddler who needed protecting and being watched over by the ones he'd saved. Ahhhh, so much to love!!
The most sad part was that Rocket opened his heart to Yandu and then Yandu died. I know I m spelling the name wrong. But it just made me wanna hug Rocket because no again no one sees the pain that he has inside him. I myself too have lots of traumas and depression so I can relate Rocket the most. He is cute too.. so that helps too.
GG GG Actually Micheal Rooker showed up in Atlanta with hat with written on it "Avengers Infinity War" ,mostly just actors who have a part in that movie have that hat .soo he will be back especially becuase of time stone or soul stone. dont worry. :-P
I really want a prequel adventure with Yondu and his former mates in action together. Maybe something that ties into the Sovereign. It would be a younger Yondu maybe not the Kree slave pits. Just after that. Maybe it could be him learning to fly that arrow with his heart and not his mind.
Yondu emerges as one of the most compelling characters in vol2; if you watch one and two back to back, you see more depth in his character in part one. You see how he put on the "armour" of badassery to protect himself and Peter. Many bits in 2 echo bits in 1, but the finest one is Yondu's sacrifice echoing Peter's sacrifice to save Gamora; difference being Peter and Gamora are both rescued... by Yondu. Now, did that influence his ultimate ending as the Sacrificial Hero? Under the flash bang bling of stuff blowing up and eye candy, both films are full of heart, great characters... flawed, wounded, imperfect characters who ultimately become heroes, showing us all that we don't have to be perfect to be awesome. Anyway, all the "perfect" people in this film (the shiny golden people, Ego) are jerks.
I feel like Mantis needed more CGI and/or prosthetics in the movie. Her fake lashes & eyeshadow was bothering me the whole film lmao, but I love her still.
This movie was definitely one of the best Marvel movies ever made, in my opinion. The characters were perfect and the development was beautiful. Youndu's death fit well in Peter's journey to find his father. I also think that a lot of people would be able to relate to Peter; when he realized that he did have a father figure and didn't really need Ego after all. I can't wait for Volume 3!!!
Yondues death was a total shock, and while having a huge emotional impact, I got a little annoyed because I realized we wouldn't be seeing him again, and he was a super great character . Michael Rooker is one of the most under rated actors around, along with a few others, his presence adds so much to every scene he is in.
I don't think Yondu's dead due to the fact Michael Rooker already has a credit in Vol. 3. Though it could change. Still, this is the Infinity War where people die then come back XD
I love Mantis, Drax, Baby Groot, and Rocket most of all; but I really enjoyed all the others characters too! Ego was a great villain really well played by Kurt Russell too! How about you? :-)
Flicks And The City Yondo my favourite character because I need a good emotional bond with him and his sike weapon the whistling arrow and that line "I'm Mary Poppins yo"
with all the talk of ester eggs i find it funny no one has mentioned the howard the duck appears in in the crowd during the lovebot cantina part, even though he's saposta tobe in a cage in the collector's collection ( guardians 1). what i would like to see in a future movie is some kinda of exchange or even an insult fighting between howard the duck and rocket raccoon :)
The death of Yondu was well made because of how much everybody liked the character therefore it just makes it even more impactful which is the meaning of it in the first place.
My heart broke into pieces when Yondu died...I was so hoping until the very end for his survival. I kinda really missed the hint from Rocket who already hinted that someone will die, so it was really a heartbreakng shock (especially after wesaw how much he loves Peter..) But the ravager funeral was really beautiful, I really shed a tear. Still wished Yondu survives and be a permanent guardians member (the group dynamic would be so amazing with him (and Nebula)) Also this scene just let me realise how much I love this character and that he is indeed my fav :')
I'd really love to see the "Peter's Mural" deleted scene -- although Yondu's story line and relationship w/ Peter hit all the emotional beats for me (I've seen the movie 3 times and have cried each time the ending happens), I wish we had gotten more than 1 flashback of young Peter and Yondu mentoring him.
It is said that one of the last scenes was going to be of Grandpa Quill in present day holding a walkman or cassette while looking up at the sky, like he knows Peter is somewhere out there. I would have liked to have seen that, it would have added so many more feels to the end :'(
Hi Priyanka, congratulations you're one of the winners in my Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 giveaway! Can you either private message me via RUclips or send me an email at flicksandthecity@gmail.com with your name + address?
Yondu....I can understand the struggle. When they killed him I was crushed. I felt they should have killed off anyone else than Yondu. But at the same time I can see their side of it, as well. If they didn't kill him, it would just feel like another movie where none of the main characters guy, so what's the point. It's a rough one. Funny enough, I didn't even care about Yondu until they brought humanity to him in this movie. Then he became my favorite. I was hoping to see him as a new Guardian, but having father son constantly bickering with each other could have caused a distraction and lessen Peters reason to be there, as well. Either way, I'm really going to miss him.
It was such a great movie.. I never would have thought I would cry at a GotG movie though, but I did.. like the last 12 minutes or so... until the credits started.. :( Even the 'funny' speech by Quill didn't make me laugh, it just made me cry more.
Yondu death is one of the few death scenes in any movie that gave the movie more depth...Also i don't know if yondu could be saved like peter, Peter an immortal as long as the planet light burned. Yondu wasn't, very sad to see yondu go but a great character arc.
Yondu's sacrifice was a good touch to the movie. I love James Gunn movies so much! I loved your video too. I thought it was funny how the concept art always differed from what they really showed
I really think that all of the Mantis concept art is absolutely beautiful since all of the antennae are interesting and I really think that Yondu's death really helps the plot stop since the death of a main character is really big. I didn't feel that Yondu's death was really good though since in one of the end credit scenes shows the original Guardians of the Galaxy with Starhawk, Charlie-27 and more.
Yondu had to die. Starlord survived in first movie because he was immortal. Ego tells Starlord he will lose his immortality if the light at the heart of the planet is destroyed. thus Starlord would have died in space after seconds of the bomb going off. unless Ego lied of course.
Could someone explain the beginning scene with the batteries? What were the batteries used for by the Sovereign(?), why did an alien creature want them, why they needed protection at this time in general (requiring hiring of the Guardians)?
James Gunn is more active in social media which is why he wanted higher stakes in Marvel movies. Most hate comments about Marvel is stating that no one actually dies in a Marvel film which resulted in Yondu's death. The part where Peter got an mp3 is also a reference to HISHE GoTG
I think one sentence say it all "I AM GROOT", meaning the movie was awesome and all the easter eggs was amazing. looking forward to all teh upcomming marvel movies (y)
I've always believed Gunn's assertion that baby Groot wasn't the same Groot when he was chatting online to fans was an impulsive decision he made literally the moment he read the question and gave the answer, the kind of thing that happens when you're texting after you had one to many drinks. There are a lot of things that point to this, such as the fact that one of the head studio honchos had said on a couple occasions that indeed baby Groot WAS the same Groot, and that even though he clearly was a baby in every sense, as time went on he would regain the original Groot's memories. I think one of the strongest evidence for this is in the Baby Groot concept art, where he clearly looks like a younger version of adult Groot. Even the dancing sapling at the end of the first movie had features far more similar to adult Groot than the latest version in the first episode of the Groot short series; he looks like a completely different character from the one at the end of Vol 1.
I thought that Mantis was going to touch Yondu and bring him back to life with her powers of healing touch! Can they go back in time and make that happen?
When I first saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 o did not know that ego was a celestial and when I found out I nearly flipped. I was also very happy to see the appearance of Yandoo's fin. Can't wait to see Adam Warlock
I teared up near the end. Didn't think I'd watch an actual funeral procession in the MCU aside from Peggy's in Civil War. Loved the fact that they came up with rituals, like covering Yondu's eyes, layer all the things he liked with him and incinerate him in a (beautiful) flaming tunnel. It's like they were returning him to the cosmos as stardust. so damn cool to watch
Thank you for the video! It's a shame we didn't get the campfire eating scene but in the end I think we got a pretty much perfect mix of comedy and seriousness out of the movie so I'm not too bummed out. Hopefully there will be a lot of bonus stuff in the Blu-Ray release! Spoilers ahead in the rest of this comment. I was super sad about Yondu but I'm overall glad they decided to go in that direction. The fatherhood themes in this movie were powerful and moving and losing Yondu (us and the characters) really drove a lot of that home. That being said, I think it would have been extremely useful to have a ~10 second scene where it shows Peter crying a bit while floating in space beside Yondu's frozen body, with some quick cuts as they move to show a passage of time. That would let the audience SEE that it took a while for the rest of the Guardians to find and pick up Peter and Yondu and so we wouldn't have people confused about how characters survived something similar in the first one. Yondu's funeral sequence, from the private one with the Guardians and then with all of the Ravagers, was incredible and it was an excellent way to cap off this specific story while setting up future stuff.
I honestly would've loved to hear Space Oddity in Guardians 2, it fits very easily and effectively and it's just such a beautiful song. We all still miss the legend, and we always will.
Guardians of the galaxy is absolutely amazing. it really has given me a place to call my home. I feel so much warmth when I think about guardians of the galaxy.
I really loved the risk they took with Yondu's death. It gave the Gaurdians of the Galaxy a more real feeling than the first. Didn't hurt that there were more fight scenes too.
Great video info! !! SPOILERS SPOILERS!! I thought is was so much more fun than GOTG Vol. 1. True, the death of Yondu did make me sad, but the Ravager's funeral scene was epically beautiful! I think the scenes where Ego shows Peter that he was keeping an eye on him would have helped make Ego's betrayal against Peter's mother even more cruel and make the swing from fondness of his father to hating his father even more tragic!
The yando death did touch me emotionally. I will miss him. I admit yando's death did bring more value to the GoG universe, with his death it seemed more real. The characters have something to lose. I loved it.
Awesome channel and nice review! I'm really torn on Yondu's death. Like you said, death needs to be realistic and the MCU can't keep bringing back people to life like the audience wants since there are struggles and things we oppose that we just have to face and accept and move on. But of course, I want yondu back! He was a hero! There are possible talks of a yondu spin off backstory in the future that I've heard of so I hope that is possible!
I was spoiled yondu's death but it just made me cry even harder cause before he died I knew what would happen so I already started crying. Cried so much
I love this concept art and this video is great! Keep up the good work. Guardians of the Galaxy are my favorite ensemble in the MCU and in Marvel in general.
I kind of wish Mantis was a different shade of green. I believe James Gunn had said he made Drax grey instead of his original green color from the comics in the first film because Gamora was already green. But it's a good choice because it would be visually messy to have 3 Guardians the same color. Also thanks for the opportunity for the giveaway!
I think that Yondu dying was a good move but it absolutely broke my heart. I was super excited to see that both Yondu and Nebula were going to be in Volume 2 and I can't deny that I teared up a bit at both his death and his funeral when the Ravengers showing up.
Well according to the original writer of Mantis. He said nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy 2 represented his character. Although he went on to say that he enjoyed the film and the character on it's own. But that it wasn't Mantis. My guess is they dumbed down her character. Because they didn't want competition with Gamora. Mantis would have kicked her ass. Which provably wouldn't have gone over well. How the hell do you think she got the name Mantis lol. However I do question why she was even in Guardians. Considering her connections are far stronger with The Avengers. Rumors about Mantis and Peter being siblings does have some merit. Which I think could have been further explored. Since mantis memory was wiped. She has no knowledge of her previous life with the Kree. It remains to be seen what Mantis's role will be in Avengers Infinity War. Where she has been cast as well.
the one change i hate that was changed was when mantis was hit by a space rock and draxs said i know that almost hit me and in the movies draxs just said watch out mantis after she got hit
I loved Yondu from the very first movie, and even if I still can't believe he died I think it was a good move for them to kill him. Why? Well now we all will remember him as hero, and we can understand him a little bit better. But in the next movie I would live to see some memories of Quill childhood with Yondu. It would be amazing thing to know those two a little bit better. Anyway, great video! Have a great day
Marvel movies in general have a bit of an issue with characters staying dead - Nick Fury for example - such that it's almost beginning to feel cheap when a character has a death scene because you know it'll probably be reversed by the end of this film or the next. Thus I really like that they took the logical conclusion for the actions of everyone in the finale. Yes Rocket has a spare space suit but he only has one cause there's not much reason for him to have more. Yondu of course chooses to save Peter, showcasing the character development from asshole with a hidden heart in the first movie to heroic father who admits it aloud in the second. And it sticks. They cremated him. This is not going to be undone and it makes the world feel realer because death is not a quick fix.
I AM THE LAW!... wups, wrong movie, I got sad from seeing Yondu dying in the end, specialy when he got the Mohawk back. The watcher's was a nice touch, and seeing Ego's face on the planet, that made me wonder where the Hulk was at from Agenst of SMASH.. and I wonder how many other eastereggs there were in all those jumps they did
I still say Ego looks exactly like the Gardener in the comics, another Elder of the Universe like Collector and Grandmaster. Thanos takes the Time Gem from him in the Thanos Quest prologue to Infinity Gauntlet.
baby groot:i am groot.yuondo:whats that. rocket racoon:welcome to the freaken gaurdins of the galxy only he dident use freaken. rocket racoon: were going to have a descoin about your language

"He may have been your father, but he wasn't your daddy." I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!
i teared up with Yondu's death, but it had to be done. this movie was brilliant.
Same here!
I ain't crying your crying

Ahhhh, so much to love!!
I'm in love with Gamora. And also like baby Groot dancing in the beginning.
"He may have been your father, Quill, but he wasn't your daddy." Is one of the best quotes Yondu said in the entire movie! Subscribed :)
Mary Poppins will be in our hearts
Indeed he/she will! :-)

Having a green mantis would have been confusing with the green Gamora. Death in Marvel is never ever permanent.
It has been in the movies. Only Agent Coulson comes back from the dead.
Yeah, but we know he has been in Tieta. :)
This didn’t age well.
Kinda wish yondu didn't die but it is what it is 😪
ikr rip Yondu
ikr, so sad, but I kind of agree with Gunn's thoughts on the matter. :-(
Wish they would have saved Yondu's death for Infinity War.
GG GG Actually Micheal Rooker showed up in Atlanta with hat with written on it "Avengers Infinity War" ,mostly just actors who have a part in that movie have that hat .soo he will be back especially becuase of time stone or soul stone. dont worry. :-P

love Mantis so much, she fits perfect, but miss yondu so so much !still holding out for a miracle yondu will be back somehow.
Hey if Infinity stones are involved, anything is possible. The least of which would be bringing Yondu back. Would be nice.
JadeRabbit Futurist if yondu comes back everyone will start roasting on marvel for not yet killing a main character besides quicksilver
The "I am Groot!" as baby groot runs off with the bomb was great in the trailer, don't know why they changed it to him not saying anything as runs off
''i have sensitive nipple''' Drax
I feel like Mantis needed more CGI and/or prosthetics in the movie. Her fake lashes & eyeshadow was bothering me the whole film lmao, but I love her still.

Doh! How did I forget Yondu?!! Absolutely love him too!! And yes, such a cool character who I really felt for.
Glad they didn't go with some of the Ego alternatives. Looks too much like the ravagers.
movie was so good. I have watch it twice
Lovely to know you had fun watching the movie, Adam. :-)
You look like Mary Poppins
Is he cool?

Yeah he's cool
I'M MARY POPPINS Y'ALL!

This just proves what I've been saying since the eighties. Stan Lee or (Stanley Martin Lieber) if you prefer, is in fact, a Watcher.

yondu's death in the movie was great. not only did it make moving scenes, the stakes were there that previous marvel movies failed to achieve.
I've always believed Gunn's assertion that baby Groot wasn't the same Groot when he was chatting online to fans was an impulsive decision he made literally the moment he read the question and gave the answer, the kind of thing that happens when you're texting after you had one to many drinks. You shouldn't have killed my mom and squished my Walkman.
I loved this movie so much I think mantis is one of my favorite characters and baby Groot of course hehe😂😄😆😆😄😄😀😀
Great to hear you enjoyed the movie so much, Rory. Absolutely love Mantis and Baby Groot too! :-)
Flicks And The City omg thx for replying😃😄😄😆😆😆😁😁😀😀
You're very welcome, Rory! :-)
Flicks And The City u just made my day😆😆😄😄😃😃
:-D
Loved this one even better than the first! Im hooked! Sad about loosing Yondu, it was so touching, not a dry eye in the theater ;'(
When I first saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 o did not know that ego was a celestial and when I found out I nearly flipped. I was also very happy to see the appearance of Yandoo's fin. Can't wait to see Adam Warlock
I almost cried when Yondu died, what a great movie.
Wish Yondu survived, but I think he got the best heroic/father death any Marvel character can ever get.
Guardians of the galaxy is absolutely amazing. it really has given me a place to call my home. I feel so much warmth when I think about guardians of the galaxy.
Youndu's sacrifice was great, that's how you treat an exit from a great character.
You missed the one where Nebula says to Gamora, "Here you stand: a Garden of the Galaxy."
I'm pretty sure it was in one of the teasers/trailers.
I love The guardians movies, both of them. I was really sad when Yondu got killed off, but i understand why, and liked the way it happend
Love the film, I cried with Laughter and sadness. Definitely didn't want yondu to die, but I hope 3 will be just as great
The yando death did touch me emotionally.
The movie was absolutely great! Shame that there were some stuff cut.
i wish Yandoo was still alive because peter just needs a good father figure, i love his actor, and yandoo is the best!!!!
The ArtWizard **yondu
Love this movie so much! A lot of laughter and with a sad and teary ending from Yondu's sacrifice.
I love the movie, It was REALY GOOD
Me too! :-)
I teared up when Yondu died. He was one of my favorite characters!
And I have to say, Michael Rooker plays an amazing jackass
loved the movie so much more the second time. the last few scenes were a never ending series of tears. it was a beautiful movie.
great vid
I loved the Adam Warlock tease a lot. As if i needed anything to get me more hyped for Guardians 3.
Funny. The trailer scene where Rocket and Groot are talking about the death button was in the movie itself.
Yondu made me cry, who'd a thunk it
the one change i hate that was changed was when mantis was hit by a space rock and draxs said i know that almost hit me and in the movies draxs just said watch out mantis after she got hit
No Yondu shouldn't have died Rocket and KRaglin could have just waited outside of the planet's atmosphere and sucked them up.
6:45 I've been looking for that scene during the father and son talk
I AM THE LAW!... wups, wrong movie, I got sad from seeing Yondu dying in the end, specialy when he got the Mohawk back. The watcher's was a nice touch, and seeing Ego's face on the planet, that made me wonder where the Hulk was at from Agenst of SMASH.. and I wonder how many other eastereggs there were in all those jumps they did
Can't wait to see how volume 3 will handle Adam Warlock. but Ayesha was very specific 😂 'I will call him..Adam'
Great video about a phenomenal movie!
This movie was way better than the first one, Great job on the vid
I still say Ego looks exactly like the Gardener in the comics, another Elder of the Universe like Collector and Grandmaster. Thanos takes the Time Gem from him in the Thanos Quest prologue to Infinity Gauntlet.
"Gunslinging cowboy" ego looks like Andrew Lincoln. "Organic Earthy look" resembles Armie Hammer. Weird.
I have to say I really do agree with most if not all James Gunn's decisions he made, to include losing Yandu.
My favorite part of the movie was when rocket laughs at taser faces name
baby groot:i am groot.yuondo:whats that. rocket racoon:welcome to the freaken gaurdins of the galxy only he dident use freaken. rocket racoon: were going to have a descoin about your language
Guardians Of The Galaxy truly is a work of art, and hit me in the feels
Gutted to the core about Yondu. He should've been saved. 😣 Love the end credit scene of Groot as a teenager. That was brilliant.
death of yandu makes the movie so much touching and memorable.
I've seen it twice so far! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
