5 Barriers to Exercise (AND HOW TO OVERCOME THEM!)

  • Now that you've decided to commit to losing weight, the hard part is over, right? WRONG! Although taking the first step on your weight loss journey is important, you need to prepare yourself for the different barriers to exercise that can derail your progress.
    Whether you're too busy to work out, or don't have the support you need, there are tactics you can use to stick to your fitness goals.
    In this video, I explain the 5 most common barriers to exercise, as well as how you can overcome them.

      My biggest obstacle is being consistent!! we always start off strong but then miss a day and lose momentum! I just try to take it one day at a time!

      Ah. Definitely have been there! It’s always refreshing to remember that it’s not the one instance of inactivity / unhealthy eating that determines our body composition. It’s behaviors that add up every day that determines your results! One day at a time is right!

    Kev these tips are fire!!! I used to do reformer Pilates 3 times a week before lockdown and I've done hardly anything since! But your right I now know what works for me when working out I'm not motivated to do it any other way! I never really understood what works for me properly! Thank you 😀

    I definitely keep facing the time barrier... I put my body back together several years ago but now it's hard to keep up because I always feel like there's not enough time to fit in 20 minutes for a quick workout (which is obviously a lie)

      Ah, I totally empathize with that, doc! Just remember that you put your body back together; when you're ready to get back at it, just think about what you were capable of before!

    Really great video! Thank you for being so encouraging to everyone!!! Barriers I've had have just been an overload of work. Working a full time corporate job and also owning my own business is EXHAUSTING but fun. But I make fitness fit in and try to keep it fun :)

    Time is definitely a barrier of mine since I am a mom of 2 young ones and lots of competing priorities, however I wake up earlier before they wake up in order to fit it in. Thanks for this video.

    I can totally relate to starting day 1 over and over again! My biggest barrier is actually energy. I just don't always find the energy or motivation to get started and the first 15 minutes are so hard then I often get interrupted by my baby. I also have many other priorities and working out falls to the bottom of the list.

      Tiidii Living with Sabrina Ah! I KNOW! It’s a frustrating feeling for sure. I can’t count how many Day Ones I’ve had. My recommendation for finding the motivation is to consider the long-term benefits of your program, and find little pockets of time to get the most out of it; so if you have 15 minutes, have a 10 minute quick routine you can do. I’m sure all the tidying up gets some good daily movement 😊.

    It really helps me when I arrange to work out with a friend and stick to the same days and times of working out - it becomes a part of the routine 😉

    That's good for only 3 months losing 40 lbs, that's amazing! Love the first barrier, I hear this a lot and they say I wish I have time like you do. Time is something that you make for the workout.
    Bootcamps are really going to help a lot for making friends and overcoming shyness. I couldn't agree more with all these tips!

    Great realistic tips. We all have the same 24 hrs in the day so it comes down to making the time and setting goals properly. Specific realistic goals. I can say from experience setting them too high really makes them more ''wishes'' but when my goals get serious they more specific and committed I am is when I see them come to fruition.

    Hi Kevin - Excellent Video - I have recently lost 30 pounds from dieting but I am still too fat to do any significant excercises without harming myself! Love the tips that you have - def got a new subscriber and I am looking forward to more videos to help me along
