  • Athletic Lab's Mike Young provides a review of the new kBox4 highlighting the benefits in general of the kBox as well as the upgrades that have been made from the kBox3. The kBox is a flywheel training device from Exxentric that provides iso-inertial resistance and the opportunity to create an eccentric overload. This is very valuable for athletes because eccentric force generating capacity is one of the most important physical qualities in sports performance and it can be difficult to safely and effectively create an ideal training stimulus. We use our two kBox devices extensively at Athletic Lab to improve the performance of our athletes.

I've had one of these for a year now... I've gone through four bands already, I have three plates and it's amazing

+darness1234 ... So you mean the bands aren't durable on the KBOX? What is the replacement cost of the bands? And how much did you get the system for ... the website has the following (is that how much you paid for it):
kBox4 Lite starter system is 2,190 Euro ( $2393.85) plus tax and shipping
kBox4 Pro starter system is 2,990 Euro ( $3268.31) plus tax and shipping.
Also how would you go about doing a bench press or exercises for the back. I can see how one would perform deadlift and squats using some type of accessory though.

strawberryyogurt0 go to my page on you tube, the bands aren't expensive, and I have the Kbox3 all you have to do is now how to place it. And you can almost anything you can do in the gym

Thanks for the review. Question: How can a person using the KBox4 really know if they are gaining strength compared to using free weights snd lifting heavier free weights?
Question: What is a good intermediate training Flywheel for the KBox to start out with ?

Terrific and very informative video. Specific accessories do you recommend....kpulley, decline bench, waist belt, etc. thank you.

What do you think about using this to develop hip strength post hip replacement?

Sorry for the late response. It would work very well for that purpose.

mike, how does this compare to the mini gym and leaper isokentic machines?

I haven't used either of those devices but this is not really isokinetic. It's a variable resistance. The more force you put in to it the harder it resists.

@@MikeYoungPhD thank you, i guess i'm not really understanding the difference between the "variable resistance" and the isokentic. appreciate the reply.

@@JamesPossible Hi James. I have both and both are very useful but distinct tools. At a basic level, 'isokinetic' (mini gym/leaper)=same speed (speed is essentially held constant no matter what force is applied) whereas 'isoinertial' (Nhance YoYo and its offshoot kbox)= same inertia (that inertia which is put in is returned but at a slight premium). The difference is multifaceted but two main elements are the Leaper is concentric only (isoinertial units develop eccentric overload) and you are NOT accelerating on the Leaper (isoinertial units 'allow and reward' acceleration) . Feel free to email if you'd like to discuss further: aaron@redlinehp.com

@@aaronsidner very interesting, i did not realize that the speed is constant with the mini gym/leaper. so, because there is no negative resistance, the leaper is a concentric exercise. where as the iso-inertial exercise does load the negative movement, as well as the positive movement. thank you so much.

Hi James, I have all three of the machines and I think the Mini Gym would come closest to what the Kbox emulates but they are NOT the same, different type of resistance.
