I watched a number of videos on replacing awnings showing various means and methods. I keep coming back to your video and will be following your example when I change my 16 foot awning out in a few days. Was by far the best instructions and most enjoyable to view. Enjoyed the scenery as well.

For me it was the double count on winding the spring back up. I think between 11 and 12?!? Funny little detail, but great video! I’m doing mine this week and you’ve helped me troubleshoot some obvious headaches before I start. Thanks for a great video!!

I NEVER drill metal (rivets) without safety glasses. Bits are brittle and you don't want that in your eye.

My wife and I (seniors) followed your instructions and had perfect success. The first time I might add. It was a hot day so a couple breaks were needed. It took us 3 hrs with breaks. Only difference, I took both R & L spring assemblies out to lubricant. I noticed a little surface rust. My let’s me sleep inside again. Ps. There was satisfaction in cutting it off.

Tip to prevent or greatly delay the rolled-up awning from prematurely tearing up: It usually deteriorates from Sun / UV damage. The Sun is a tough weapon. Get any water based latex paint and when the awning is rolled up against the RV, paint that area of it that is exposed to the Sun. Give it a couple of thin coats. White or a light color is better. Will probably have to do this every year or two to keep it from deteriorating prematurely. Doing something like 303 spray has to be done every 60 days, and still isn't as tough as the thicker latex paint sunblock.

He never showed reattaching the bracket to the RV. The one with the 3/8" screws. No big deal, I figured it out. Otherwise, Awesome ! I also noticed the drill bit break and the wrong count on the wind up, but still the easiest method so far. Also, I'm thinking the " Food Grade " silicone spray might dry up into a gooey mess. I think the regular silicone spray might be better. Not sure, but just a thought. Great job !!!
