We have a Springdale too! Every Springdale we have seen has this same problem, in the same spot! When it rains, the rain just flows right over the door! Thanks for the instructions! We’ll be replacing ours too! Wish us luck!
Thank you for shared your clip! My wife & I did ours in about an hour! Also I was glad to find your clip because the clip I originally found was way more complex than it had to be!
Great job and Awesome video. But how dod you know what size cloth to order for replacement

I've been dreading having to replace my awning for the longest time. I purchased mine from ShadePro as you recommended and they did have the best prices. They also were very good about providing suggestions on how to replace it. I'm 62yrs old and I was able to replace mine almost, completely by myself. Thank you for this video.
The LED lights are mounted to the wall of my trailer just below the awning fabric. The lights aren't a part of the awning fabric. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Is there a difference in quality/ thickness/ sun protection when buying replacement fabric..? How do other companies justify larger cost, if nothing is different (materials)..? Great presentation, I would Bet 99% of every rv/ pull behind/ camper trailer with awning is GOING to have to do this... Our awning flakes apart as we drive... 😢
Is there a spring to secure? I think I ha e the same power awning as you as I also have a springdale. It's about 50/50 that a spring is mentioned in the electric awnings but none are shown.
Thanks so much David! My sister in law and her husband needed to replace their awning. The had campers World do it for them. MISTAKE. First one was the wrong size. Second one took a while and was expensive😫 for them.
Great video! On my RV and what I noticed on Grand Design RV’s. The white side is up and the black in facing the ground. I am guessing to reflect the sun rays and it doesn’t get as hot underneath. I see you top is a pattern so I guess you have it on right.
Great job. We had the same camper and it's really a testimony to good old "stick and tin" trailers to see yours doing so well. Especially so knowing where all it's been. I miss that Springdale; it did really well for us.
nice work thanks for sharing. One question: why would you choose black color? It just absorbs heat, and deteriorates faster than a light-colored one. Just a thought.
What about the spring they’re talking about when you take the awning off they say to plug the hole so those spring don’t spring out you didn’t do that why?
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this video!!!!!! Our camper is having the exact same issue , although you made it look simple, it probably will not be for us😂 but we have the exact same trailer and this will be our guide. We will also order awning from the same company so thank you for that information as well
I felt the same way dreading it, and I'm about to replace mine with my dad too!. I've been following your channel since way back when Roe was Jenny and I subscribed for her secret campground reviews to go to the same places. See you on the next one!
Thanks so much. Mine ripped going down the highway and sprung out. 😮 I knew it needed replaced but put it off. Don't wait just do it easier than I thought.
@@FateUnbound That’s pretty good then. Sun and dirt ruin stuff quick. Not gonna lie, your new awning looks super heavy duty compared to the stock Lippert crap.
Yes the spring was strong to do by myself I am not a spring chicken anymore haha but I got it done I do most all mechanic work myself . Be careful stay safe
Our 2013 keystone hideout has rivets around the cup instead of screws like yours. I was thinking of drilling them out to do the same repair and then rerivetting. Bummed they weren't screws.
Wow, using rivets there is insane. They know you have to replace the fabric at some point and yet they use a permanent fastener. That's really frustrating.
What kind of screwbit did you use for those 3 screws? Not sure what I'm looking for at the hardware store. Awesome video BTW. Looking forward to replacing my awning!
I was dreading changing mine out being a 16’ awning, but after watching a few videos I was able to tackle it myself. Just be careful with the manual awnings as they are spring loaded.

I have a Forest River Flagstaff E20FBS RV and purchased a ShadePro replacement awning fabric. The problem is I can't thread the new runner tubes into the track since they are obstructed by the little rain gutters at either end. Anyone has to cut those away to get adequate clearance to slide the fabric in??
The old awning is dried out and shriveled that's why it comes out easier. Tip to prevent or greatly delay the rolled-up awning from prematurely tearing up like this one (which was very minorl IMHO ): It usually deteriorates from Sun / UV damage. The Sun is a tough weapon. Get any water based latex paint and when the awning is rolled up against the RV, paint that area of it that is exposed to the Sun. Give it a couple of thin coats. White or a light color is better. Will probably have to do this every year or two to keep it from deteriorating prematurely. Doing something like 303 spray has to be done every 60 days, and still isn't as tough as the thicker latex paint sunblock.
Wouldn't it be easier to remove the awning screws in the gutter before removing the awning roll? Then you don't have to hold it while you're tackling those.

Thanks for the video it was very helpful and nice Trans Am, I have a 01 black ws6 myself.

Thanks. Just the information that I needed, especially the source of the fabric. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
I need to replace my awning. I feel much better about it after watching, thanks.
Nice! Yeah it's a real easy job 👍

This video convinced me to replace my own awning. Been dreading it but now I’m looking forward to getting it done. Thank you!

Fantastic video. Do you have the LED lights on the awning? How did that work out if you do?
The LED lights are mounted to the wall of my trailer just below the awning fabric. The lights aren't a part of the awning fabric. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you for making it clear that it is not an impossible task. I learn much from your posts.
Thank you! I'm glad you find them useful 👍
Bought my new awning from Shadepro. Now to $240. Still a good deal. Replacing my awning in two days from now!
David, you are by far the best informative do it yourself guy on RUclips! Sooo happy you are back!!! Keep um coming bud! ❤
THANK YOU so much. Excellent video. Takes away the intimidation. Excited to DIY! -Love to you and yours from the SouthWest (US)
Wow, thanks for the video, we need to change ours too.
Glad you liked it!

Thanks for sharing. I might try mine now it doesn't look that hard.
Nice! Yeah it's really not hard if you've got enough hands
Just about to replace my awning.
Bought my new awning from Shadepro as well.
Thanks for the video 👍🏼
Heck yeah! Glad you enjoyed it!

Great video! Very well explained in simple terms with callouts for the typical "gotchas".

My awning does not have a spring since it is a motorized awning. I believe the springs are in manual awnings.
@@FateUnbound Yah! The spring issue is what always seemed to scare me away from trying....mine is motorized, too...wonder if mine has the spring??
How do I know if mine has the dreaded 'spring' in it??

That's exactly what I need to! Thanks alot David greatly appreciate the video. Not so dreading it now.
You're welcome! I'm glad the video was helpful!
Great topic David, thanks for the ShadePro link!
You're welcome!
Looks great! I'll remember this for our awning replacement. Thanks!!!
I did my awning back in the day on my old bounder RV. It was spring loaded and a much bigger drama.
Oh wow yeah working with a spring would definitely complicate things.
I felt the same way dreading it, and I'm about to replace mine with my dad too!. I've been following your channel since way back when Roe was Jenny and I subscribed for her secret campground reviews to go to the same places. See you on the next one!
Wish mine was that easy it was a pain but I got it done. Love your videos David
Dang sorry to hear that! Was yours a spring loaded manual awning?
Thanks so much. Mine ripped going down the highway and sprung out. 😮 I knew it needed replaced but put it off. Don't wait just do it easier than I thought.
How old was your original awning? Mine is 2 years old and still going strong. I do wash it 2 times a year and apply 303 uv protection as well.
My awning was 7 years old and used almost every day. We never washed it or applied any protectant, that probably would have really helped it haha

We’re not quite ready for a new one but I think I’ll buy one soon just to have it on hand JUST IN CASE. Great video as always! 🎉
Thank you so much for sharing this very informative video.
You're welcome!
Thank you David, I really appreciate and enjoy your videos.
Great video. You make it look so easy.
Great video, super helpful!
Thanks!
Take a drink every time this guy says awning..
Nice someday I will be doing that.
Did your have spring in it
Thankfully no, sounds like the job would be more difficult for ones that have a spring.
Good afternoon David. Sweetie is back.

Thanks for this excellent video!
200 as opposed to 500 that's a deal looks beautiful hello to all
the family including sweety pie
I am always so worried about damaging the awning with wind...Thanks for showing that its not too bad a job
Same! Ours held up through 7 years of full timing so here's to 7 more years haha
Great video and love the "new awning smell" comment 🤣
Hahaha thanks! It really did smell pretty great!
Great vid! You made this look super ez
You don't need to drill out rivets first?
On some models maybe but mine did not have any rivets thankfully

Looked really easy 👍🏼 good price too 💰
Yep, not too hard of a job at all. And the price was very nice.

Heck yeah! Gotta have that shade. And I'll tell Sweetie you said hello!
Thank you for this 😊
You're welcome!
Say about broke my hand because you didn't mention I needed to put a pin in the spring on the back opposite of the motor side

No Thanks for Sweetie helping out!?!? I don't think you could have done it without her!! :)
Hahaha you're right! The job would have been impossible without her!
I guess they're not spring loaded like the manual ones.
Hey Hoosier!
Hey there Tammy! 😁
We found good fabric on eBay for $75
So duct tape won’t work?? Lol
Dangit! I forgot all about duct tape!! I could have gotten the old awning to last a couple more weeks! 🤣
"There! I fixed it!" 😂😂😂
We saw someone with duck tape flying in the air from their awning.
We had the same thought! We tried installing Gorilla Tape on a good dry, sunny day, the next rain, it came off.
Woo-hoo
Shame on these price gougers charging what they do!
what year is yours , there is a recall on those awnings made from 01/22 to 06/22
