My two negatives for this are - no spare tyre, even a space saver, and the 360 degree camera car is grey and it doesn’t match the car colour so in your demo as you switched it was odd seeing it change... although I know that’s picky ☺️
Picking up ours in 2 days!! She is fully decked out except for the ceramic brakes. Mythos Black make this car looks unreal 😍😍😍 I have probably watched every single RS6 video on RUclips since November! Hahaha but this is my absolute favourite review 🙂
This may sound nuts because i love this car but that quarter mile time is a bit disappointing 11.9 @193 the previous performance model with 445kw ran low to mid 11s @ nearly 200, i though that since bmw m5 and e63 had been out for approx 18 months when audi finally released the rs6 that they would trump their competition
We ended up getting a better time in a subsequent run of 11.7. Keep in mind as well the outgoing car was the performance spec. This is the ‘base’ RS6 - once the performance version lands it should (hopefully) be quicker than the old one.
Re 0-100 tests with the engine on and off, I thought the VBOX only measures time from when the car moves, not from when you hit the pedal, meaning the result is the same as is only starts the clock after the engine is already running. Might be better to show a 3-2-1 GO type test in both engine running states to show the difference there.
Good point - the VBox actually starts recording when the gyro detects motion, which happens when the car starts moving. The car will move slightly during stop/start when the brake pedal is released, so while the results may look identical, they're likely to be a couple of tenths apart, which the VBox doesn't show on screen.

There is no difference between the 0-100 times for start stop on/off, as your VBOX only starts timing after the vehicle moves. There would be a slightly delay if you look at timing from when the accelerator is first pressed.
Awesome car and get where you are coming from as perfect Paul, but horses for courses. I honestly couldn't buy that personally over an RSQ8 or really even the SQ8. I live in Queenstown so this may be an antidote for an SUV in town, but it ain't getting up and down some of our ski access roads unscathed. I think the V8 Audi SUVs are a pretty capable performance compromise too, with an even wider practicality.
THis looks absolutely epic. But personally i do like the s7 more, like the body shape, frame-less windows, and yes the light sequences are awesome. or maybe the q8, any reviews in the future for iether of these?
Excellent review. I think the comfort factor is a big plus, when compared with its direct competitotrs (m5 and e63). This car is $200K+ cheaper than its Panamera and Continental stablemates.
Stunning! If I won Lotto I would go straight to the local Audi dealer. This car ticks all the boxes for me - beautiful inside and out, monster engine with sound to match, drives and handles brilliantly and it is practical! If there is a negative it is only that there is not one in my driveway! Have to say I love seeing that big grin on your face Paul. It makes these reviews so genuine and enjoyable. Well done :)

What’s your opinion of the RS6 over the Porsche Panamera Sport Tourismo? I’d have the RS6 based on looks alone. Also - Look forward to your review of the RSQ8 and comparing that to the equivalent Cayenne Coupe Turbo and X6M
I don't think you ever need a car other than that, it's just the best (apart from servicing it that's gonna RUIN you). Interesting for me; Mat Watson just tested the S8 which is slightly down on power and weighs more but it did a better 0-100 kmh and ¼ mile time. How does that work😅
So doesn't the speed timer start timing when you start moving? If that's the case, you'll get the same 0-100km/h times with the start/stop feature on or off?
Timer uses an internal gyro to commence timing. As you roll off the brake and on to the throttle the car will inherently likely move slightly. I think the key takeaway here is the 48V system allows it to start almost instantly. The VBox shows a reading to one decimal place, but I suspect if we downloaded the data there'd be a time difference to two decimal places (albeit very small).
Its probably worth mentioning that tuned "Stage 1" versions of the previous gen RS6/7 were yielding circa 420AWKW and in excess of 800nm at the wheels aswell.... from nothing more then a tune. Cant wait to see what these will be are capable of!
More wheelspin from the dig due to existing old VHT. You need to run in the opposite direction or start before the old track prep to get the best possible time...
Opposite direction is unsafe for the quarter mile. It’s about representative of a regular road surface - ideally we’d love to have the surface prepped each time, but there’s a lot of time and cost involved in making it happen.
@@CarExpertAus What you can do is do the 0-100 km/h tests in the opposite direction and then compare them to 1/4 mile runs in the usual direction. Yes i'm aware that it's not financially feasible to prep the surface for a one off test. Anyway food for thought :)
Everyone, Type in Audi 202mph to be absolutely astounded at what this thing can do. If you must buy something enormous, I'd rather you buy this than ANY high rise fatty hatchback

Has nothing to do with a fast stop start system. You performance monitoring Vbox would only start measuring the performance once the car starts moving so even if the starter takes 5 minutes to start the car, it will still have the same 0-100 time
There really is nothing like this on the road. The quality, styling and performance is really unparallelled... even if the E63S Estate was available in in our market, it is still no where near as bonkers looking as the RS6. Hopefully they sell well so we have a flood of them on the used market in years to come.

We did have a think about this, but there's no quantifiable method for us to compare sound systems. It's hard to compare the quality of them with a tool.
Audi RS6 is great but the RS4 seems like better value. This is only 0.1 seconds faster in quarter mile than an RS4 probably because of the weight. Great review as always Paul 👍
It's a different kind of quick - in a straight line it feels about the same, but it's through corners where this feels next level fast. Especially sweeping bends more so than tight ones. It's a real rocket!

But as a previous owner of the first gen C7 amd then the Performance, I cannot rave enough about the rear wheel steering and 85% shift to rear to get he gorgeous big ass a round the corners. Night and day versus C7 performance. But I DO miss the engine note. Akrapovic and engine mapping here I come
RS6 is always been apart of my dream 3 car garage as the family hauler and nothing has changed for this generation. I wonder how long I would cry for once I scrape that CF splitter on a driveway haha. Bit disappointed the 3d model of the car for the reverse assistant wasn't red.

The virtual cockpit was first introduced in the Audi TT 2020 model so it was not unique for rs6 at this time.
