Doug has always been a bigger fan of understated all go no show cars. The rs6 lets you know that it’s fast whereas something like a n e63 wagon would look like any old station wagon to the uninitiated.
Actually they are used because the A6 lights can't be laser, which is an option in A7 and A8 only. Thus they ditched the whole A6 front in order to give maximum options in the ultimate wagon.

AN D1 It’s a large gas guzzling car in the US as well. 17 mpg combined is horrible mpg for a wagon. SUVs like the Highlander Hybrid are now doing 35 mpg.

The point of the laser headlights is that they direct the light automatically away from oncoming traffic by way of magic (google the way it does it I ain't a scientist). No idea if it's a gimmick or if it's true, but that's what the point is. BMW and Mercedes use their own variations of laser as well. I guess it does work as I've never experienced being blinded by a new german car in the dark yet it's always a japanese crossover with LEDs that destroy my vision. Just a personal observation.
The A6 and RS6 actually have a feature where they sense cars coming and turn off the exact laser that would shine directly on those cars. It all happens in real time. It's great.
Well in all reality even though Doug almost had an orgasm reviewing this car, there are only maybe 3 people in whole US who would drop 130k to drive around the best station wagon on the market..
It depends on how many Americans will purchase them. If it's a selling disaster and Audi decide not to bring out any RS avants after this in the US market, it won't go down in value really fast as it'll be the ONLY RS avant that is US legal.
The Interior is not even compatible, E63 has one of the nicest interiors in the game, sound system is better, steering feels nice, it's faster, exhaust sound noise is nicer.. Iunno I'd take the E63

Winggame taxes and whatnot. My dad’s A6 cost around $130,000. My VW Scirocco from 2009 (that I bought last year) cost me $18,000. Cars in Denmark are just extremely expensive. If you buy a completely new Audi R8 V10 it’s gonna cost you $540,000.

C’mon Doug! That blooper at the end is actually you activating the auto tailgate feature. You wave your foot under the rear bumper and it automatically opens (and closes) the tailgate. For when you arrive at the car with fully laden hands. Pretty neat feature. Also, the spare wheel well is *under* that plastic trim. Admittedly it’ll be a space saver, but that’s where it lives. That’s why there are two handles embedded in that plastic tray thing. And you didn’t mention the coolest thing about the load area - the auto retracting load cover. Moves up out of the way, then snugs back down as the tailgate shuts.
For those who don't live in Southern California, the other big difference between this and the E63 AMG wagon is that the RS6 is All Wheel Drive which allows you to go to the hardware store and grocery store in the snow and ice.
E63 wagon is AWD too. SoCal is probably the biggest fast wagon market, I see one or two every day in LA. I wouldn’t expect to see one all year in the Midwest

Well as cars continue to get bigger they have to proportionately have to increase the sizes of everything else. Brakes have to increase in size and to not scrape on the wheels they have to inevitably increase wheel size.

Most Americans watching this will never be able to afford an Avant, so we’d rather see a review of a vehicle that’s attainable to us. The Avant is nice but I’m personally more interested in the Bronco as well, but that’s just my opinion.

The fact that Audi put the lambda measurements on the headlight warning is awesome. In case anybody can't tell, I have no friends.
C’mon Doug! That blooper at the end is actually you activating the auto tailgate feature. You wave your foot under the rear bumper and it automatically opens (and closes) the tailgate. For when you arrive at the car with fully laden hands. Pretty neat feature.
Also, the spare wheel well is *under* that plastic trim. Admittedly it’ll be a space saver, but that’s where it lives. That’s why there are two handles embedded in that plastic tray thing.
And you didn’t mention the coolest thing about the load area - the auto retracting load cover. Moves up out of the way, then snugs back down as the tailgate shuts.

For those who don't live in Southern California, the other big difference between this and the E63 AMG wagon is that the RS6 is All Wheel Drive which allows you to go to the hardware store and grocery store in the snow and ice.
E63 wagon is AWD too. SoCal is probably the biggest fast wagon market, I see one or two every day in LA. I wouldn’t expect to see one all year in the Midwest

The RSQ8 can have up to 23" wheels. The S6 Sedan can have up to 21" wheels.
Well as cars continue to get bigger they have to proportionately have to increase the sizes of everything else. Brakes have to increase in size and to not scrape on the wheels they have to inevitably increase wheel size.

I love the fact that a guy who owns a Ford GT and has driven some of the most awesome cars on the planet gets giddy about a station wagon. That being said, this car is beautiful, sounds incredible and I really, really want one.
Amazing that it can keep up with a Tesla Model Y performance, which is half the money.
But what about the quirkiest quirk, that it doesn’t have the front of the regular a6, instead it has the a7 front.
If it came in a manual as well, it would be one of the best cars ever made
