I couldn’t find my elegoo mars 3 setting with power resins castable dark after I bought it, but I wrote to the support of power resins and they sent me a file with the settings But I think that they have to add to the online pages
Hi Geoff. I know from your site that you use pioneer smoothcast investment plaster but I was wondering if you'd ever tried any of the investments which are supposedly for castable resins only and if so if they're any better?. Thanks
i have the same problem, i am eager to try the black and wax resins but the lack of information about the settings for my mini 8k makes me still trust bluecast resins and the great customer support on their Facebook group. like you said $300 dlls and no information at all, i prefer to spend a little extra and have direct contact with the company for any issue. great review!
Yes, we need Power Resins to sit up and listen to their customers / potential customers. In my case, for instance, the sample I received was NOT enough to fill the resin vat of the Mini 8K, so I was always limited on what printing and casting I could do. If I'd had good settings, then I could have done more for my viewers, offering them a better insight into this product. Now I'm lucky, I got my sample for free, but others would have paid good money for something they couldn't use properly because there's a simple lack of information. Power Resins need to follow Bluecast's example 😁😁😁
I’ve been scavenging everywhere for proper settings on the Opaque resin, for my Anycubic photon mono x. Could you share what settings you use for it please.
Only 23 comments complaining about the same thing?. I had the terrible experience of contacting them, asking for settings for the Photon Ultra. After 3 WAP messages and 3 emails they finally replied with the settings for the A.P. ULTRA. Definitely going with Bluecast.
Wow, that's not good. Now it's fair to say there is a language barrier here, but Bluecast have exactly the same issues and they're managing great. It sounds like Power Resins need to improve their customer care :-(
Bluecast has print profile files available with ease. just bought a phrozen mini 8k and elegoo mars 3 with both files easily uploaded to lychee and printing well.
I have a LOT of respect for Bluecast. Initially I was a little critical of their approach, but they listened to my comments and those of my viewers and massively improved their profile availability. THAT is the way to do business. By listening to their customers, they've gained MORE. Everyone wins 😁😁😁
I wouldn't have the skills for that. The break is on the INSIDE of the piece. Still, it was a fun experiment and gives me a few more ideas for future projects. 😁
You need a resin that does NOT require post UV curing as the hinge sections are pretty much hidden. As long as it's okay there, any castable resin should do it. When I cast the articulated dragon, I believe I used Resinworks 200, which is certainly cheaper than Power Resins Opaque 😁
No VOG, don't use the bottle as a paperweight, dribbles from the side end up on your paperwork and ruin it! But it also makes me wonder is other companies will get hold of this resin and make a cheaper alternative 'inspired' by it...
There's not enough resin in this bottle to 'drip' anywhere 😂😄🤣 As for companies copying this formula, from the limited sample I've tried, I'm not sure they need to bother. Opaque certainly works, but I cannot definitively say its better or worse than any other resin I've tried, simply because I didn't have enough to test with 😁
Now the thing with the purple goo is that they gave me plenty to try. That meant I could really get my teeth into the resin (not recommended - maybe that's why I ended up in hospital). And I would have happily used it in this casting experiment if it had not been for the UV curing issue. On another note, you heard it here first, it may not always be purple... oh yes, look out for more experimental videos with a new ST castable 😁
Interesting... I'd love to know who told you as I'm the one that talked them into doing it, offered repeated feedback and is actually testing it. I often find it amazing how many others claim credit for these things... after the event 😁
Honestly? I've no idea IF it's good enough. It's an expensive product and presumably they want me to promote it for them. But the sample they sent me did NOT even fill the resin tray of my Mini 8K. This meant I was always going to be limited on the number of prints / casts I could perform. And without settings, I wasted half of the opportunities. I like to speak fairly but candidly on my channel, so I stated the facts as I saw them. Expensive but does the job. I can't rave with enthusiasm or detail any problems (if there are any) because to do that, I need to use the product more... and I can't 😁
Getting a print in place design to work as a casting without completely locking up is pretty impressive
I guess that Power Resins heard you and added the settings for the Phrozen Mini 8K.

It's good to hear they're responding Giulia, but as you say, it's a shame they aren't keeping their website up to date.
That was a design that I wouldn't have thought would work, but I am impressed with the outcome.
Thanks Michael. This design is a tricky concept... creating a movable object from a single pour. It does work, but it made my brain ache 🤣😄😂

@@vogman yep and they have an excellent facebook group with good support as well.
Maybe JB weld the arm back on the little robot. Or if you can silver solder stuff that might work.
I wouldn't have the skills for that. The break is on the INSIDE of the piece.
Still, it was a fun experiment and gives me a few more ideas for future projects. 😁
@@vogman ah I thought it was possible 🤖 good robot in any case 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Max 😁
Ayy new video!!!
Sure is 😁
yess
😁😁😁😁😁
Brilliant review thanks Geoff all the best mate
Thank Ian. Take care buddy 😁
Cool, I like the robot. I do wonder if cheaper resin would get the same result. I've seen you make very detailed rings etc with cheaper stuff..

@@vogman And the dragon also wasn't cured? Because it looks perfect
Exactly. No post-curing there 😁
@@vogman
UV light via Fiberoptics or small prewired SMD UV led threaded inside would help
Great review. Proper pricey resin.
It is. I'm not convinced it's worth the extra, but I've never used enough of it to form a strong opinion. I guess some people buy it 😁😁😁
Thank you for another good episode.
Thanks for watching 😁😁😁

@@vogman Yes I've heard elsewhere that there is a new ST castable on the horizon... And I'm very interested to see how is looks and functions.

Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching 😁😁😁
Its not 0.1mm accuracy, they just said its accurate.I think those numbers are minimum thickness it can print .
Fair point. I misread that. Still, it worked out pretty accurately for me 😁
I regularly print this resin at .03mm layer thickness.
Great information, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching 😁
👍
😁😁😁
The DARK is the best one
I enjoyed Dark too. 😁
Actually there was arm done :)
Yes... by my cheap jokes 😁😁😁
it look very expensive to make
No arm done….🤨😎
I couldn't resist 😁
Why don't you just admit that it is not good enough for the ridiculous price they are asking.
