According to Geoff Johns, the choice to go with "Shazam" as the character's name post-Flashpoint was based on how "most people think it's his name anyway", since DC *could* use the name in their comics, but not merchandise. Frankly, I think that's a silly reason.

Enjoy aspects of both. Both have some really great characters. I personally enjoy the ones that "bleed" (as batman would put it) more than the ones who are essentially all powerful and invincible. I also like to see characters grow. So iron man (movies) annoy me. Superman idk if he can be called a hero if he's essentially unkillable by most opponents he faces... kinda boring. But batman, thor, captain america, etc. all appeal to me. The real rivalry? Deadpool vs Wolverine. If you were wondering the real reason wolverine can't be in a deadpool movie... it's because the movie would be 5 min long, with wolverine solving everything in the first 4 minutes. How to get deadpool in avengers end game: Step 1 - wolverine-esq recruiting scene where he tells captain america to piss off and that he's not joining their team just because all his people got deleted by thanos. Step 2 - giant fight scene in some city on earth. Step 3 - deadpool walking out of burrito shop with a chimichanga casually strolling through said fight. Bad guy blows up chimichanga right as he's about to eat it. And now he's pissed off enough to fight. How to save avengers in end game: Step 1 - get hishe Step 2 - get batman Step 3 - go to cafe with the avengers and discuss how batman can solve thanos problem faster than entire marvel universe. Step 4 - Get answer (because I'm batman). Step 5? - Superman shakes head (not this again).
The Captain Marvel thing is the main thing that pisses me off. DC literally bought the name Captain Marvel and stopped printing publications just so he (now Shazam) would not outsell Superman. Then Marvel coins the name, _because Marvel_ , then DC is like *oh hey wait! We have a Captain Marvel too! We gotta bandwagon on this pronto!* Their *one* job was to publish a comic every now & then. SMH
A comic book character retains its name as long as they publish that character. With that whole thing, they bought the competitor out to cease sales & the trademark of Captain Marvel went to Marvel, who was actively publishing comics of that title. Did I get it?
It's a business that wants to compete with DC. Sony would do the same to Microsoft if they tried to call themselves the number one playstation for games. Funimation would do the same to any company that tried to call themselves the kings of anime dubs. McDonald's would do the same if a company made a Mc(anything) . the list goes on that right there is called a business strategy and nothing more.
@@loganbreau8877 Totally. It makes sense for Marvel to trademark the name "Marvel" but I find it wild DC had/lost their chance back in the day. Personally, I say DC could have made that Captain Marvel thing work in their favor awhile ago but I still *love* Shazam/CM.
Tom King also got a shot in at Stan Lee in his Mister Miracle mini-series. In the series, Mister Miracle and his wife have a son that they name Jacob. Funky babysits Jacob, who he sometimes calls Jack and he also calls the baby "The King", clear references to Jack Kirby. At one point, Funky tells Mister Miracle than he and Jacob create stories together. But Tom King has Funky state that Jack is the one who provides the imagination, and Funky just adds the words. King effectively makes Stan Lee (in the form of Funky) admit that he lied when he claimed that he provided the imagination and Kirby just drew the pictures.
I do respect each company, however DC seems to be getting a lot of undeserving hate just because some of their movies were not as successful. This is hurtful to DC fans. Please stop.
@jjoeyj83, youcould say the same thing about Marvel movies, overrated dork-fests with nothing to offer but cheap humor and unnecessary political propaganda. It all comes down to your individual tastes. Both companies produce unique movies.
It’s not really DC’s fault, as much as it’s Warner Brothers. And the reason some fans, like me, are angry, is because we know DC has good stories and good characters. I think you fans deserve better than a studio that think “Batman is the only heir that sells well because we’re too chicken to make any other comic book movie.” These same people put the whole DCEU enterprise under the thumb of a man who does not superhero comics. They had also let that previous man, a firm believer in objectivism, make a movie based on Alan Moore’s anti-objectivism movie. WB is making bad decisions with the film rights DC have them. Meanwhile DC is doing them a major favor in making comics out of all their old Cartoons. Future Quest and Pink Panther are amazing. This is a gift to WB that they do not deserve.

while yes that part true captain marvel billy baston is nothing like superman at all because captain marvel is a boy tuning into a superhero with magic not science fiction also lots of other people were doing the same thing too.

Shazam is simply a better name anyway it gives him a better tie to Greek mythology
True and sounds more dramatic SHAZAM
At one point "Shazam" was "Captain thunder" in fairness, Marvel stories "grew up" at least a decade before DC.
Marvel and DC fan here. Not sure if CM can make $1 billion. I do hope Shazam does well at the box office. Probably won't make it to $1 Billion but a man can dream.
If Aquaman could make 1 billion dollars, then I’m not losing hope on my boy Billy.
The budget of shazam is less than half that of CM. so even if it makes 600 million, it would be a blockbuster.
So Jack Kirby hated Stan Lee for taking all the credit?
It's time for Marvel and DC to have a cross over
Was it Wendy's or BK that trolled both of them into the same twitter chat to propose another crossover. Friggin brilliant
There needs to be such a big threat that DC and Marvel have to come together in order to fight it
This also plants a good message that no matter how much we fight we all live together
dc and marvel have gods in every way, the only way to do that its, if the big bad kills somehow all the gods(meaning the gods of the gods not like odin) plus some heroes (because there is a ton in each universe) and gets depowered for doing so for some reason
@@tyrrant1374 maby something that strips powers of God's and heroes on mass scale or the big bad has the power to do so and take those powers this would be a great time for no super powered heros to shine as well but if they also could travel to different universes this would be more catastrophic than the infinity gauntlet this would be how they would do it I think.
@@scarcevoyage4079 Am a fan of that. Maybe they can make it so, the strip power ability needs some range , that way omni beings lose power immediately while normal superheroes can help and still let the guys with no super powers shine as they will be more of a backup because they wouldn't be able to get close.
I guess we won't see anymore crossovers between the 2 companies....😔
No I don't think it's out of the question. They still frequently cameo each others characters. For example in Hawkeye/winter soldier comic they joke about Batman and Robin, in a captain marvel in comic (in which she has the reality stone) we see Shazam (DC captain marvel) and few other examples.
If they truly hated each other they wouldn't be allowing all these cameos.
Once Disney buys Warner Brothers it will all come together. Can't wait for the Spider-man vs Darth Vader cross over.

@@christiankarl280 I really liked the new Spiderman and I would like to play in continuation, but you have to admit that the Arkham Series is better (although it's difficult to compare 1 game with 4). #9: After every Marvel vs DC death battle.
I like both companies
DC's live action stuff just isn't normally that good. Watch The Batman vs. Dracula

There’s only one true Captain Marvel and his name is Shazam!
AwesomeMan That is literally not true.
DC didn't even make Shazam.
I mean, Sony didn't create Venom but theirs is the one true Venom movie.
Ren That's not even the point of any of this.
Thanks for nothing though.
The point was to compare copyright and ownership but okay w/e
Ren For your point to work, Venom would need to be made by Image Comics.
Thanks for trying though.
Thanks for the video Jules. 🙏💗✌️
I never liked that his name changed to Shazam since Black Adam also says it. Made the hero feel less unique
Aidan Binni Also, it’s stupid that his name is also what he has to say to turn him into the hero. Lol. Can you imagine if every time you said “Aidan” you revealed your secret identity? “Did you see what that superhero did the other day, Billy? What’s his name again?” Billy: “Shazam. Oh shit...” Should have just kept him as Captain Marvel. Cooler name anyway.
I would have absolutely love to read that avengers/justice league comic, especially if in the end they'd team up to fight some crazy powerful opponent...
Powergirl seems more like a knock on Supergirl than Luke Cage in my opinion.
She is literally Supergirl from an alternative Krypton.
Mike Munoz except they made a character geared to little girls into an overly sexualized tart who can’t figure out how to fully dress herself. Next you’re going to say Starfire becoming a nudist was about female empowerment and not just eye candy for the predominant teenage male readers.
Wonder Man and Wonder Woman have very few similarities beyond the name as well, possibly less similarities than Luke Cage and Power Girl.
@@bbsy1 Why are you using strawman arguments? Power Girl is literary Supergirl but from an alternate dimension. No ifs or buts, that is her official backstory. I have no idea why you brought Starfire into the conversation. I wasn't defending her sexuality in any way.
peacorptv I don’t know much about Wonder Man thanks for the information.
According to Geoff Johns, the choice to go with "Shazam" as the character's name post-Flashpoint was based on how "most people think it's his name anyway", since DC *could* use the name in their comics, but not merchandise. Frankly, I think that's a silly reason.
Love em both but DC will always be my favorite
Good video but that Thumbnail is just Glorious 😍

It took me a while but you're talking about the Buried Alien situation are you?

@@kkr2122 Happened when Barry died back on Crisis on Infinite Earths I think. amar em red hood flashpoint reign of supermen yea dc got it
DC's biggest problem is Warner Brothers making them put out crap movies. I remember when BvS came out and all the fanboys of DC were all over the web claiming complete and total victory over Marvel movies. Then 2 weeks later, after they figured out it was a crap movie, they all just fell silent. Had to lol at that one.
Like Batman Green Lantern at DC, but mostly read Marvel. I'm sure most real fans do that too. Just the trolls that fall into camps. That said in comics alone, the both of these are just event after event now, and it has cause fatigue in my fandom. Down to like 5 books at this point.......

How to get deadpool in avengers end game:
Step 1 - wolverine-esq recruiting scene where he tells captain america to piss off and that he's not joining their team just because all his people got deleted by thanos.
Step 2 - giant fight scene in some city on earth.
Step 3 - deadpool walking out of burrito shop with a chimichanga casually strolling through said fight. Bad guy blows up chimichanga right as he's about to eat it. And now he's pissed off enough to fight.
How to save avengers in end game:
Step 1 - get hishe
Step 2 - get batman
Step 3 - go to cafe with the avengers and discuss how batman can solve thanos problem faster than entire marvel universe.
Step 4 - Get answer (because I'm batman).
Step 5? - Superman shakes head (not this again).
Thor is pretty much Norse superman as far as OP goes.
This makes me think on why I usually do not do brand loyalty, it is like paying to advertise for someone else.
We gotta bandwagon on this pronto!*
Their *one* job was to publish a comic every now & then. SMH
How could DC buy the name SHAZAM if it came even before Marvel and yes, sorry SHAZAM was originally of another comic company
You forgot to include pewdiepie vs T-series on your intro.. 😂
Where's that movie from 0:36
Pepsi vs “cola?” 🤷♀️
Good video but I'm surprised there was no mention of the Squadron Supreme (super-villain parodies of the Justice League) from the Avengers cartoon.
@jjoeyj83, I can see from your perspective and I appreciate your input. I suppose as a DC fan I just really like their movies and comics.
I suppose it is all in the eye of the beholder.
It’s not really DC’s fault, as much as it’s Warner Brothers. And the reason some fans, like me, are angry, is because we know DC has good stories and good characters. I think you fans deserve better than a studio that think “Batman is the only heir that sells well because we’re too chicken to make any other comic book movie.”
These same people put the whole DCEU enterprise under the thumb of a man who does not superhero comics.
@@kennybrightwell1877 yeah DC needs to get rid of wb and become it's own studio like Marvel
