I have seen multiple great sales and open box deals on laptops with 4050s and 4060s, and those mobile GPUs will embarrass many desktop GPUs from the 10 and 20 series (and even some of the 30-series). I would say that a very big red flag is sellers posting stock photos from the manufacturer instead of photos of the actual product their are selling. I have fell for that before where the seller ends up selling a product that is too damaged.
The other red flag would be sellers announcing a price that is too small for the value of the product (like that $1 guy), then acting offended when someone offers them what they are asking and keep trying to up the price on you when you make an offer. I usually filter those low values because they are either faulty/damaged products, scams that target your wallet or your data, or delusional sellers.

If a person wants to sell something they should make it easy for ppl to make the decision wether they want it or not without any delayed back and forth making everything drawn out and more work than need be. No actual pics is a red flag too, and prices that are too good to be true are red flags too.

I know this video is geared more toward people looking to offload their used PC's but there are also many PC flippers and Local builders like myself on these platforms that build PC's for profit. Some folks don't market themselves as such but their prices may appear a bit higher because your paying for their expertise in sourcing the parts, building and testing the machine to make sure it's stable. It's not a bad way to make some side cash as long as your not trying to pull a fast one. I also wanted to comment on the "New Build Comments". I think its fair to call a build new as depending on the parts that are used because GPU's and CPU's have longevity in them and if the rest of the parts used in the system are new it is essentially a new system especially if it's been tested for stability and thermals. The build is technically new because the builder sourced the parts and Built the system and tested it. In my listings I mark which parts are new and used if any so there is no confusion. If it's a build I just cleaned up and tested then yes that would be marked as used.

My current rig was a 4th gen intel with a gtx780 I got from a buddy in 2018. Since then I’ve slowly upgraded every part, mostly with used components. Now it has a 3600 and a 2080 super with 32 gigs of Ram. Only thing original is the case and the Blu-ray drive lol my next purchase will be a higher-end 5000 series for my b450 board, either a 5800x3D or a 5900x.

    32GB lpx @ 3200 = leftover from prior build

Yeah, but those prices started to change way on back at Newegg. Nowadays with their 1000's of SCAM 3rd party sellers/newegg Chinese capitalism, 2060's are still way overpriced, so sellers on Craigslist price accordingly.
I remember the 9 series processor from 2008 stayed on Newegg for 5 or more years at $1500. That was because Newegg was stuck with that processor, I'm sure that's why they implemented the 3rd party sham so easily. As long as they have the 3rd party to back them up, they can create 3rd party sellers to sell their traded in GPUs for top dollar.

I don't know about you Jay, but there are also Brands that I will not buy. So that reduces the number of adverts that I would consider.
Back in the day when I had the cash, I would play around with ads like this. If you can afford it it can be fun and you can even make a profit from it.

Really nice video with relevant content. Scary that you even need to concider robbery in this case. It has never be on my mind after hundreds of private trades in DK.

OH! The 12400F build with a RTX 4060 and 32GB of RAM! That reminds me of a Facebook Market Place ad I saw local to me! Intel, i3 12100F, a decent Asus motherboard, pared with 96GB of RAM, or something weird like that, and RTX 3080, and a slow 1TB SATA SSD, for something around $2,700.00 I think it was. It was like the guy bought all the best pieces and then bought the cheapest CPU to I guess try maxing out his profits? He had more money tied up in the cost of RAM than he did in the processor, motherboard, and SATA SSD combined. The RAM and the GPU were the most expensive bits, and the RTX 3080 had already just been superseded by the RTX 4080. I have no idea what crack that guy was smoking, but in the end no one bought the machine because of the mishmash of parts.

For me if they're legitimately unwilling to listen/consider offers and they're asking just their listing price. What I think is that they refently bought the item for a bad deal and are trying to make back the money the spent, or they only want money. If someone wants to sell something, they want a higher price but theyre never absolutely firm on their asking price from my experience. 😊

To be fair/ yes old parts/ but you do gotta make a profit. I built the pc and alot of my parts are cheaper then a store bought one i also take the risk of putting it together and charge my labor and shipping ontop of it. IF i sell it for how much i bought the parts for why even sell ready built pc's in the first place? I just think this is a little crazy NOW
    DONT GET ME WRONG
scamming like some people do is RIDICULOUS
but not getting free pc parts or discounts like everyone does. Doesn't mean we CPU Sellers shouldn't make money selling a good and well working product.

I got lucky and bought two “broken” gaming PCs for $200 each. One was valued at $400, the second, a Corsair Obsidian Super tower with complete water cooling, purchase was valued at $1200 on the low end.

This is a video that no tech youtuber should ever be doing. More than half of his audience is people that couldn't tell you what cpu they have in the PC they are selling. People lowballing nowadays is out of control. Jay enters the chat, I'd try to lowball him. I haven't had many issues with Jays videos or his stance on most things but this is probably where I draw the line and I didn't make it through this video and didn't even watch whatever video he said he lowballed in already. Kind of a dick move bud.

I hate selling things online, I hate buying them worse. So I typically avoid such things, but this video is smart and gives some real good pointers. That said, I enjoyed the trolling. Can we get more Jay Trolling videos? lol

I cannot tell you how crazy some of the deals are where I live, (Cape Town, South Africa) especially on the FB market. I've seen some of the worst combinations of parts with a price tag that people just pulled out their behinds.

I look at marketplace sometimes too and laugh at what people ask for some of the PCs.
