      Had a great experience over all with both of my Ibuypower PCs. One suggestion is making some of those Ibuypower parts available for out of warranty repairs later. My Ibuypower AIO cooler quit 4 years after I got my PC (not out of the norm for that to happen) and when I tried to order a new one with the Ibuypower branding I was told those were only available for the new systems being built or warranty repairs. I literally was saying "Ibuypower take my money!" and the answer was no. Ended up ordering a kraken AIO through someone else.

      I applaud that you were willing to let cameras into your facility at all, it shows that you have at least some confidence in your processes. Though I do have a question regarding (I believe) an MR Slate 104 I've seen at a local store of mine. I noticed that the shelf model had only one stick of ram in it and to my knowledge you should never have less than 2 unless you want to bottleneck a system by limiting the bandwidth of the ram. Is that simply a leftover prebuilt that is no longer representative of current ones or is there something else going on that I missed? In my mind, if you're buying a system that north of 1000 dollars like that one is, dual kits of ram should be so standardized you don't even need to think about it especially given how cheap some dual kits of ram can get despite having solid specs and capacity.

      That sucks having your computer fried. :( I've always had my computers (server, PCs, printers, network hardware, etc.) on an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), such as one by APC or Tripplite. I'm currently running my laptop, printer, and powered USB hub on a surge protector that handles over 4K joules because we have frequent outages up here in Alaska during the long winters. You can get a small APC Office UPS that'll give you enough time (~5-10 minutes) to shut down during outages, or to handle a brief brownout that doesn't cost a whole lot. I've been working on computers and electronics long before Jay was born (was an Electronics Tech in the Navy back in the '70s & '80s, then earned my BSCE and BSEE degrees after that).

    • @KellicTiger
      @KellicTiger 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@LifeInFrameUPS dude. Search suppressors only support surges, a brownout is basically going to be power lag and that's not going to help that at all. A UPS also does power conditioning.

    Since IBP are going to be reading these comments, I just want to say good work and thank you guys. At the beginning of the pandemic, I specced a PC and had it shipped to my almost completely tech illiterate sister-in -law. It arrived in perfect condition, it was easy to set up and it enabled her to work from home and continue to make money for her family. It also introduced her to gaming, which she has continued to enjoy. I've always built my own machines but I bought a Y60 case to build my son's music production system in. I could have gone with a generic case since the machine is not used for gaming but he wanted a bit of flair. I was really impressed with both the cool design and the quality of the case and so then I built my wife's machine in the elegant Revolt 3 which she absolutely loves. Finally, I've just finished my new machine in the flaming red Y40 and it looks fantastic. Once again thank you IBP from our family for producing great products and thank you Jay, Phil and Nic for producing an informative video. BTW Phile, nice work on the in-video titles. Nicely done.

      Ahh but maybe you haven't thought of the secondary benefits. If you build a machine for family then you are tech support forever. I got my sister-in-law to buy an IBP machine that I specified on their website I then sent IBP and her the spec. She ordered it and they delivered. Now if she has a problem then she 'must' call IBP because I can't 'touch' their machine.

      It's not terribly difficult learning to build your own PC. Assembly isn't too hard, buying the tools isn't too expensive, and you're in charge of the quality control. Troubleshooting kinda' sucks sometimes if you're not a software engineer or don't understand how to partition drives without wiping your OS, hard to know if you broke something of if the part is defective...but yeah. I'd much rather build my own custom rig even with the tedious PITA parts of the process.

      @megapet777 6 месяцев назад +1

    Ryzen 7000 or specifically x3D isn't super picky about memory at all. Doesn't matter whether it is EXPO or XMP. Cheap boards like a live mixer can easily push over 7000MT/s. I have watched enough AHOC to know you are talking nonsense. Doesn't matter whether it is 8, 16 or even 24gb modules, it works well with Ryzen even at high frequencies. Don't do videos and spread misinformation. I wouldn't buy faster than 6000MT/s, but if you want to mess around with high frequency, you can easily get to 8000MT/s running 2 to 1 which intel also needs at that speed and still can't stabilise 8000. AMD actually has the more solid IMC for DDR5 believe it or not.

    at 2:55 or at least at 5:05 they have to list timings, just as basic as possible CL30 or CL32 would be enough. nobody knows & why spent 15$ extra for the Kingston or Teamgroup ram. even when u click the info button it actually is useless and too overloaded, bringing up a whole new window with 0 specs listed. & yes it wouldnt be too confusing since they having PSU listed as PCIE gen 5 or 96mb cache L3 cpu (or the 3000mb write & 5000mb read from every single drive description). Also why do they have Arctic Silver 5 as thermal paste? i mean ok but why no Arctic Mx-6 but a thermal paste released 16 year ago? doesnt get into my mind. overall its a good Configurator but offers very weird choices sometimes.
    Also an unpopular opinion: list RPM speeds for the fans (min-max or max only) - not all spin as fast as others listed there. - its minor thing though
    (not to mention the ram "may" not be compatible at those speeds - tried msi b650 tomahawk & will allow me to select 2x16gb of ram at 7200mhz while msi states Single channel 7600mhz & dual 6400+mhz so it may or may not work - cant test it myself & only heard others having stability issues with such high speed. - but since they offer it, it should "work" without any fine tuning if the user decides to do a bios update & re-enable expo)

    Cool video. I noticed a few wks ago, they no longer do custom build (at least thru online configurator) using their Hyte SFF case (Revolt 2). Thats too bad as its a decent case esp for size. I mustve had lucky timing as I was able to get a Ryzen 9 5900X/3080Ti build about a month after they released that case. I hope it wasnt discont in building in for a reason other that maybe too big of PITA? Anyway, PC been running well so Im cool with IBP although they did bend the MOBO with too much force when installing GPU, but no issues so eh.

    I bought an iBuyPower RDY from Best Buy about a year ago. I have zero complaints. They even installed the fans on the rads in the right direction. Everything functioned perfectly. It had all the instructions as if I were not literate with computers. Once the computer was up and running, and I knew it was stable and consistent (run for about six months), I then took the liberty to made modifications with some fans, RAM and a different AIO and a CPU bracket (Intel's stock lever action bracket is terrible). I went with a pre-built because I simply haven't had the time to dedicate to really diving into a PC build the way I would want to.
    I had heard a lot of bad things about iBuyPower before I bought it, but I am seeing those things that were said to be generally untrue, and in reference to some weird anomalys problem that is likely undetectable and unavoidable.

    Upsets me when people bitch about people NOT building their own PCs. Because it is always cheaper to build it yourself. What they do NOT take into consideration is that some people do NOT want to build their own or do NOT know how. Also they do not take into consideration that some people like to have that no worries warranty and tech help. Sure you get a warranty on all the parts when you build your own but if something goes wrong YOU have to figure out what it is and go through the hassle of doing RMAs.

    As someone who has been build a system for more than 10 years, I tell you most prebuild is still better than DIY by someone with no clue on how to build a system. If you're new just start with a prebuild then learn from that, you can start by doing some diagnostic whenever your system gone wrong and stuff. The amount of people come to the shop to fix what they build is staggering.

      @@AlvlUpSavedMyLife this is exactly why I tell you it isn’t enough, 10 min won’t cover every aspect of building a pc even something like loose ram, loose power cable, too much/too few pressure on cpu, wrong bios version, wrong driver and the list go on. Honestly it’s a small problem if you’re experience it’s a simple fix, but you gotta look in a POV of people who are new to all of this. The most important skill in building a PC is diagnosed what is wrong and then you can find plethora of fixing method online.

      It has something to do with shipping, if I recall Braethorn's explanation correctly. You may find basic top-down air coolers or simple single tower coolers on more budget systems, but the more robust dual-tower coolers like your Peerless Assassins and NH-D15s are top-heavy like a high-end GPU; so much so that even if you throw as much packaging protection on it, there's still a palpable risk of shipping damage.
      AIOs, OTOH, have most of their weight on the radiator, which is bolted securely onto the case, making it easier to ship.

    The one criticism I would offer not just IBP but any other integrator is please use more airflow friendly cases in the preset builds. Modern components are hot. Having a case that effectively cools is essential. Please do not further contribute to the "form over function" issue that is so frequently seen with prebuilts. There are plenty of amazing looking airflow cases that have great cooling that don't cost an arm and leg.

    Great company! I have purchased two IBP in the past because it was actually cheaper for me to spec. out what I wanted from them than to build my own. Their customer support is also on point. The second system I bought for my son, and the GPU went out about a month after he got it. I called up tech support spoke to an American that actually worked in the same building the system was built in. He took me though couple trouble shooting step confirmed it was GPU. IBP overnighted a new GPU and I sent the defective one back didn't have to pay for shipping or anything.
    This past year I built a new high end system after owning the IBP for 13 years (Yes I had upgraded everything but the case and PSU a couple time) but the first thing I did was go to IBP and spec out a new system to compare cost versus self building. This time it was cheaper to build my own and there was a specific GPU and case I wanted that IBP didn't carry. However, I will definitely consider buying from them again.

    I'm not sure about today, especially with parts suppliers, but back in 2008 Ibuypower built me a system with a i7 920, ASUS p6t Deluxe, gtx 260, 6gb ram, floppy, HDD, dvd.... finally died in summer 2024. That's a very long life for electronics in general but especially for a computer. I think the problem was the solder finally gave up, looked like moisture trails on the back of the motherboard that followed circuit paths and even alcohol wouldn't clean it off. Just stained. Definitely a testament to the build quality and QC testing on their part, I was running it at 3.2ghz for a while..
    Now I've upgraded to a i5 12600k, Asrock Riptide z790, 32gb ram, m2, gtx 1650 (needs an upgrade) and enjoying something a bit more modern.

    I currently use an iBuyPower system i bought pre pandemic and still use. My old system (an Asus branded prebuilt) had inexplicably died and this was a ready made that was extremely competitively priced and i don't regret getting it. After many years of usage, she still runs well and problem free. I'm thinking of upgrading this summer and honestly, I might get another iBuyPower system if the prices are still really competitive because the experience has been very good. I think the most impressive thing is how dust free my case is because the system came with magnetic dust shields. The old Asus system was embarrassingly choking on it's own dust by the time it gave up. As long as the quality stays good and the prices remain competitive, I'll probably step into another iBuyPower system.

    So I bought a y70 system after watching this video two months ago but my experience has not been great. I bought the system they did all the process like in the video up until I got the system. Upon receiving the system the box was already opened and was damaged. Mobo was cracked so nothing powered on gpu shows sign someone tampered with it. I contacted Ibuypower support they said they would start the UPS claims but after 40 days of no news I to called UPS myself to find that there wasn't a claim on my system yet so I had to start that and send in photos. UPS then contacted Ibuypower who asked me for the same photos of box damage and system damage with no news. I asked what options I had Ibuypower told me only after if ups pays the claim can I decide to get it fixed (send it back to them/ send parts to me) or return the whole thing. At this point I am not sure if I want to keep the system as I have yet to confirm anything else in the system for function. So I guess the actual product would have been great but customer support is just not there for me. 70+days and counting with this decoration.

Just ordered another Custom Build and they've nearly gotten through Assembly S2 (Burn in) in the first day. Huge difference in production. I'm not a huge fan of their proprietary parts (AIO cooler or fans) so I spent the extra cash for more notable named brands but I'm sure those issues have been remedied as well. I'm probably going to continue to buy from them in the future given this next build comes to me as fantastic as the last.
