  • This video provides a brief overview of the “Study of Coordinated Fire Attack Utilizing Acquired Structures” experiments conducted in single-family homes. The "Analysis of the Coordination of Suppression and Ventilation in Single-Family Homes" report provides fire dynamics analysis of each of the experiments, a discussion of the different control strategies examined, and tactical considerations developed with the project technical panel.
This project was funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

I would hope that all the armchair firefighters that are so quick to make comments on something they know nothing about would watch this and learn something. The science and knowledge of today is far from the 60s when I was involved. There is a lot more to fighting a fire than just putting water on it. God bless everyone of you that are on the front lines every day. Be carful in these troubled times.

1980’s FireFighter Enters the chat… I entered the fire service at a great time. When I was a probie and for the first 5 years, we still were wearing the rubber boots and riding the back step of the Engines and Ladders. Then came full turnout gear with Nomex hoods. Then enclosed cabs (no more back steps). Then coordinated venting and positive pressure fans during fire attack… it seemed like every 6 months the science was more and more evolved. I thoroughly enjoy watching how the new generation is learning from everything we all did, with the added benefit of data scientists and engineers.

This was all very "Impressive" but in the real world of USA firefighting, all this intelligence, responsibility and professionalism doesn't exist. Not even close.

Why are buildings allowed to be built so close together anymore, especially with wood foundations.

This is an advertisement for coordinated fire attack research, which I'm very interested in. I clicked the link to "read the report", but it's a bad link. I'm looking for the meat and potato's. I searched the FSRI website to no avail. What gives?

Buildings are built so close together anymore. It's only natural, you're going to have problems with exposure.
