    I'm not very far into the video, but I had to stop and say THANK YOU. First because you've put this together for us, but secondly because you mute your video between directions, you work your pattern in a common sense approach that is very easy to follow, and you're not using any music in the background as a filler. I have an odd hearing issue that makes music such a distraction for me. You speak plainly, and you explain it all so well... thank you. 😊

    Yep Yep sir alien from another planet that used to be on Sesame Street. Most people know that some people don’t and they would talk really weird. They became very popular to put kids toys and you can make a gigantic one. You could make a little one the ones on Sesame Street their eyeballs were ping pong balls, don’t ask me how they got them to stick on. I have no idea but these are so cool I love the hips.

    Marvellous video utter noob wanting to try crochet and make a parrot snuggle pouch. So many videos don't clearly show and explain each reassuring step like you do. Well done! It is a foreign language. I have seen yips lined with black fabric not only looks awesome it would provide darkness for sleepy bird.
    How would you go about achieving that. I was planning on using drill cotton or something relatively safe incase birby decides to nibble. But I've no idea how to do it.

    • @BeyondtheLens53
      @BeyondtheLens53  2 года назад

      I would advice against it all together, Because parrots love to shred, chew, preen using their beaks, cotton and fabric poses significant risks of chemical poisoning, strangulation, entanglement and developing a gastrointestinal blockage. A parrot hut also has the potential to make the parrot aggressive. My parrots were never even covered at night time, only if they were loud, just to quiet them. Other then that i would have no idea how you would do it if you chose to..it would be easier to achieve if the piece was built flat and sewn together, and not made from yarn. I hope this helps. Forgive my opinion please, as I have own parrots for years, and i am a lover of them, and have extensive knowledge.

    Looks like fun but im rows 3&4 should be 18sc not 12,right? Then 5&6 decrease down to 6 correct?

    • @BeyondtheLens53
      @BeyondtheLens53  8 месяцев назад

      No. Incorrect. RND 2 IS 1sc, INC which makes it 18sc..so rnd 3 & 4 which is 2 rows of 1 sc ea. St for 18sc. Rnd 5 is another decrease of 6 sts which makes it 12.

    • @BeyondtheLens53
      @BeyondtheLens53  Год назад +1

      Hi, if you need this to be longer, at 9:43 we begin 10 rows of just 1sc ea. st , so i would suggest just keep going, maybe 5 extra rows, if you are using worsted weight, or 10 extra rows depending on how long you want it, before you proceed with the video. I do not have a Yip Yip to measure to know how long it is with the tassels as this video is 2 yrs old, but i hope i was still helpful..lol

    I'm having a bit of trouble with Row 34. Row 33 is 64 stitches. Row 34 says to do 2SC + decr 13Xs which is only 52, what about the other 14 stitches? Should it actually be 2SC + decr 16Xs?

    • @BeyondtheLens53
      @BeyondtheLens53  4 месяца назад

      Hi, no . 2sc, DEC uses 4 sts. Your doing it 13 X, 13 X4 is 52, 64-13= 51, then there is 1sc left at the marker, which makes 52 sts, There are no other sts.

      I'm using aran yarn as think it's the same as worsted, I'm on my first yip yip as making a pair, but I don't know if I'm going wrong as when decreasing for the mouth it's dropping 4 stitches each row as its 2 decreases on each end, I seem to be decreasing faster than you so less stitches on each row each time than you have, I only know how to do invisible decreases I've not done it your way before is that why I'm going wrong? I'm winging it lol

    • @BeyondtheLens53
      @BeyondtheLens53  6 месяцев назад

      @@Littleseagullbaby Aran yarn is generally the same as worsted, its slightly heavier, which gives way to a smaller gauge. Invisible decreasing is really no different then how ii do it in the video as far as how many stitches you loose. Invisible decreasing will just give you a way nicer look to your project, it is definitely the way to go. Why you would be decreasing more then me, i have no idea decreasing no matter how you do it, bring 2 sts. Into 1, so you should only be loosing 1 stitch each decrease. Wish i could help more

      I'm not sure, I'll check again when I make my second one tomorrow, I'm new to crochet so maybe I am missing stitches on the row to create the mouth, it's turned out okay, I'm sewing on the eyeballs now, my yip yip is smaller as I used a 5mm hook as a 6mm made the gaps so big it didn't look good, yours don't seem to have the gaps maybe I should of carried on with a bigger hook and waited to see how it was after the first few rounds, I also only used half a ball of yarn but I've not done the tassles yet, this has took me all day as I'm so slow but wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, it's a good pattern me and my son love the Martians on Sesame Street so I'm doing the pink and blue like them for him, I can't believe you don't like the original yip yips lol

      @@Littleseagullbaby im glad it turned out ok, as long as your happy it, i wouldnt be too concern about stitch count. Lmao they always annoyed me, but everyone else seems to really really like them, hahahaha Maybe your second one will work out as far as numbers, It sure is a great Practice pattern, hard to actually screw it up, as at the end of the day, it will still look like a yip yip, mouth may be smaller or bigger, but i did design it big enough for any error’s as i use mine to hand plants in, lol. Good luck with the rest of the ones you’re making.

    • @BeyondtheLens53

      Sure it can, when you are at the last Increase round, in the video, just keep Increasing until you have your desired size, Everything following that would be the same, just with different counts. When you start your decreases there will be more then what i do in the video, but increasing stops at 7sc, INC, just keep counting up for your increases, next would be 8sc, INC ..then 9sc, INC
