- What a great learning opportunity!
My 50 year old patient is shown two days after a browlift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, deep plane facelift (technically deep plane extended facelift), and deepnecklift.
Out of respect for her wishes, I am only sharing the bottom half of her face.
She has Poikiloderma of Civatte - a specific, very common type of neck skin sun damage characterized by mottled, reddish-brown patches around the neck, decolletage (upper chest), and cheeks.
This pattern of sun damage is worst on the sides and the root of the neck, making the skin there ruddy. The area in the center of the neck, shaded by the chin, does not experience as much sun damage and appears in this patient as a whiter area.
By tracking where the differing areas of sun damage lie before and after her #facelift, we can see exactly how far her neck skin moved during the surgery.
She’s going to get a phenomenal result!
Once she is healed from surgery, the sun damage itself is best treated with a series of pulsed dye laser treatments (PDL, not IPL).
She is going to get these performed at a medspa in her home state.
Btw, don’t worry - earlobe swelling and distortion like this is totally normal the first few weeks after surgery.
