  • With my added understanding of conversion LUTs and V-log, I decided to make a short edit of a recent trip to San Francisco. Although the 4K 60p was only 8-bit, I found that filming in V-Log allowed me to really push the colors. What do you think?
    Filmed on the Lumix S5 with the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 lens with a cinebloom 10% mist filter

    Great colors, it has a very pleasant analogue/film look to it. I immediately got all nostalgic.

    Beautiful video! Especially the colours and I just love 4:3.
    If you film in 4:3, is the S5 using an APS-C Crop? And are there options besides filming anamorphic 4:3?
    I'm asking, because I film skateboarding in a 4:3 aspect ratio on fisheye, as it is more dynamic. If it crops, however, I have to take that into consideration for the fisheye-effect. I'm thinking if I should buy the S5 for the full frame or the GH5 for the price/value.

      I filmed in the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio and then imported that footage into a 4:3 sequence in Final Cut Pro. What's nice about micro 4/3 cameras (especially the GH6) is you can shoot open gate, meaning you film something like 5.7K video in a 4:3 aspect ratio (if I'm not mistaken).
      Personally, the full frame might be counter productive with filming something as dynamic as skateboarding. If you're trying to get that shallow depth of field and keep your subject in focus, you may not get the results you want trying to pull focus manually. Food for thought! Hope that helps

    Nice video. How come the aspect ratio is squareish? Did you crop?

      Thanks Peter, I set the aspect ratio to 4:3. Stylistic choice :)

    Lovely! No idea whether it's the grading or the mist filter, it's rich, solid and deep, especially after one minute.

    You can shoot 4k 10 bit 60p in MOV. Why you shot 8 bit?

    Great Job amazing footage, awesome color grading also. You really got a handle of the S5. Got one question do you always use the 180 degree shutter, or 1/50 ?

    • @spencerfackrell
      @spencerfackrell  2 года назад +1

      Hey thank you! I use 180. I would only use 1/50 if I was shooting at 24fps. This was filmed in 60fps, so if I was using shutter speed, I'd have to use 1/125 to follow the rule of 180 degree shutter. I find that just setting the shutter angle to 180 kills two birds with one stone, so to speak.
