Great video I wish you would matched the skin tones for that last shot, it’s hard to judge with such pink skin from the S5. I know it can be fixed but it would’ve been great to see it fix😃
I can't see any difference at all. Maybe, the Panasonic skin color is more red than Sony... The autofocus from this Sony have to be better (in that case: I will get the Sony).
Owner of a S5 and a a7IV. If you're in a budget and you're thinking about getting a S5, remember that you don't have the Tamron or Samyang third party lens to buy and the L mount lens collection is short. In a budget can't be the main reason to buy a Lumix S5. If you use a lot of AF, specially in video, the camera is not that good compared to the a7iv.
Lumix looks more filmic, sony is sharper. I have both cameras, for video shooter which does not need top AF and can color well himself, I would say A7IV is a waste of money. I do not even want to compare it for handheld video, as S5 kills Sony in this comparison. Lumix feels better in hands. But sony has nicer color profiles from the camera, and as I said, it is a tad sharper so it is better for photographer, not that S5 is not tack sharp, but Sony is a bit sharper.
Yeah, Sony cameras have more baked in sharpness (and noise reduction). You have to move up to something like FX6 or FX9 to get rid of it. I always prefer to do sharpness in post if needed in certain shots so I highly prefer Panasonic cameras. This can be easily seen by comparing A7III to S5 since they have the same sensor. A7III has that digital artificial sharpness and the S5 looks much more natural and closer to celluloid. This despite the A7III having a partial OLPF while the S5 has none.
@@Fedorevsky In this case I meant, detail as well. You can see the difference between 33mpx and 24mpx, it is more detailed, not that it looks more cinematic.
@@sjmedia_official Maybe a bit. Both shoot 4k down-sampled from a much higher mpx count so there would be a tiny bit of a difference there I guess. However I think the A7IV has an OLPF softening the image so most of that difference would probably be negated.
Maybe you should walk outside and look at people this time, you wont see orange skin tones, their skin colour is gonna be various orange-pink colours, if you want orange skin colours, use makeup and stop being a freak trying to control everything in camera, good video is made with good sets.
I am getting my Komodo tomorrow, I have A7IV and A7sIII, and I like A7IV much better, cleaner and sharper, thus far none of these SLR, DSLR, Mirrorless truly give you that 24fps cinematic look of Arri even when using cine match or arri lut, it's just not the same, then I see Komodo which is very similar to these cameras, but let's hope with my DZO cine lens I get something more out of it. I love that details on the face when you see a Hollywood film, like you can see those pours on the cheeks and that depth in the face with likes of Arri Mini, Mini LF, BMPCC just feels like a super16mmm look which is truly cinematic, but ways to go. One thing I have noticed clearly is when I shot with my R5 8K Raw, the image just was way different than 10 bit sony or even 10 bit canon, something about raw that just brings out more color, depth and roll off highlights. If Sony had given an internal raw recording i wouldn't have even thought about Komodo. The only true cinematic look I have seen out of a hybrid camera is Sigma FP and Canon 5Dmark II with magic lantern. I loved that progressive scan of frame where each frame is an image rather than a motion capture. Would love to see you use cinema lenses on these cameras and see the difference.
BTW the 4k60 isn't oversampling from the full 7k sensor but it is still at least true 4k which is great.
What did you think of the images?

From what I understand the 60p oversamples from 4.6k instead of 7k. So it’s slightly over 4k. That’s what I’ve heard. I could be wrong.

I'd bet that the artist in that shot just has skin that is on the pink side. Maybe Spencer could weigh in.
The panasonic rec709 leans a little magenta and the a7iv leans a little green. Neither were skin accurate.
@@spensersakurai how do you make the s5 skin tones look smooth with no pink ?
@@creativegreats6924 remove with a color wheel or use Leemings Pro Luts to fix the colors 😊
wtf A7IV in highlights looks like a mobile phone footage. Check out windows behind the dancer
Not familiar with the lumix but it looks better to me 🤷♂️
Pink tone vs Green?
slight different skintones was the only thing i could see but thats an post issue.
Nice Video, both these camera's look great!
panasonic s5 skin tone do look more real to me
A7iv in s35 mode + speedbooster + cine lens? 🤪
😂I just gave away my Korg Monologue and my Arturia Minibrute...Now I’m pissed!😂
Great Video.
I have both, couldn't help myself. Vlog is better than slog3, in my opinion.
I just want lumix with fucking good eye AF is that so much to ask?
Good is always gogo
Sony has like the color in sony
Sony is known for their red ♥️ and the S5 got Sony beats
I can't see any difference at all. Maybe, the Panasonic skin color is more red than Sony... The autofocus from this Sony have to be better (in that case: I will get the Sony).
The A7IV doesn't support video raw at all. Really unfortunate that Sony likes to artificially limit their cameras like this.
Good focus on S5. Why is everyone talking that there is no focus on S5?
Cuz it’s terrible
I was not able to take constellations pictures with my LUMIX S5. But I have a lot more to learn of its menu system
Woooooo!
@@Fedorevsky well, I both cams produce very nice pictures, but I will be still using Black Pro Mist 1/8 with both of them for sure
@@sjmedia_official Me too! Sometimes stronger depending on wat I'm shooting.
recently,I found my S5 skintone looks so red or pink, I think the Lumix color science is not better than before.
I prefer the A74 for the skin tones. The S5 is to pink/red for my taste.
Would love to see you use cinema lenses on these cameras and see the difference.
first ❤️❤️🎥
Nope
lumix color is less generic tbh
Lumix S5 best video than Sony and Sony hiting eshu v
this must be filmed in Portland OR. where youre more likely to step in human filth on the sidewalks - than a dog's.
Don't forget the drug needles!
Sony has a plastic look, S5 all day!
A7iv is a winner crazy such good price for a hybrid camera !!
This is a rediculous comparison.
The A7iv doesn’t output raw in any flavor.
