It's not as important for this game, but I'm sure a lot of us fans would definitely recommend playing the Anniversary graphics for Halo 2, since Halo 2 received all new cutscenes that are just amazing. Of course, you can still switch back and forth between the graphics with the push of a button, so you can check out how the original game looked at any time!
Don't underestimate that pistol! I'm much more of a "point and click" player, so the pistol works a lot better for that. And also, all your questions will be answered!

Don’t forget about the soundtrack for halo 2 anniversary, specifically follow in flight.
Yeah combat evolved’s anniversary graphics kinda mess up the lighting or have foliage in places that don’t line up or just the wrong atmosphere but halo 2’s is truly an upgrade of the original. My only problems with the anniversary version are the sfx for the energy sword sound goofy and the music’s too loud but the graphics themselves are fantastic in my opinion.
20:30 those small guys are called Grunts. They are easy to eliminate. And a single headshot gets rid of them instantly. 😊. And don’t call them creepy. They are cute. ❤️

That pistol is probably the most consistent and powerful gun in any video game. It has a scope and also shoots .50 caliber rounds I believe which are like...super punch through rounds.
The Halo 1 Magnum should be considered a Weapon of Mass Destruction

I played it when X-box launched when I was 16. Most fun I've ever had playing a story game, Best campaign ever made.
I’m also glad that without any knowledge of the fandom, you immediately gravitated to the legendary M6D pistol and recognised its great power. It is one of the most iconic weapons in the franchise, and would even return in Halo 5 multiplayer as a nostalgia power weapon.
This weapon is just so amazing! When I realised it can zoom... I don't need another gun (maybe haha) 😍😍
It even came to exist in Destiny 2 as homage
So many other playthroughs ditch the pistol almost immediately.

@@xJuliettex That’s fair, the older graphics are well… older. But I absolutely prefer them, especially when any of the levels at night or in dark environments are totally ruined with the new graphics. Plus it’s just a great sense of nostalgia

50:42 Me and my brother used to do this stuff all the time. In this game you can do a "crouch jump" to get a little more height on your jumps. Just jump, and then immediately hit the crouch button. By doing this you can actually get up to where the blue plasma looking stuff is being shot out. This is a thing in all the other Halo games too.
Driving the warthog is pretty weird, everybody has issues with it starting out. After a while you will get used to it. Practice makes perfect.
Halo is my second favorite game series, right behind Mass Effect. Watching new people get into it is really fun. So far this has been great. You haven't been rushing through and you pay attention. You got to see a lot of stuff most people just walk past. For example, a lot of people walk past all the marines and crew in the first mission and never get to hear their dialogues. Not a super big deal, but I like noticing all the little details they put into games like this. Or looking at signs and stuff. Most people I have watched play don't bother to look at the environment like that. This was like a big throwback to my childhood when I played for the first time in the early 2000's. Liked and subbed, and going straight into part 2.

As far as the order for playing these games, this is probably gonna be the order that hits the best. It's definitely less jarring since with this order, the graphics/story/gameplay, are going to get better and better as you go

Fully agree, thats why I recommend ce instead of reach first , you miss the new features from reach when you chronologically and it can kill your enjoyment

I’ve been playing Halo since Christmas of ‘04 and actually started on Halo 2. Started just a few years late but shortly after got Halo CE and all the halos from bungie have been in my heart since then! I love seeing reactions from you and many others from time to time to see y’all’s reactions on it as it kind of re lives my first days with Halo. Love the vids and keep it up!

Glad you’re enjoying Halo but to answer some of your questions you do learn a little more later in the story but combat evolved is mainly to slowly introduce you to the universe. Halo 2 is when the story really gets started and it’s also when the goofy vehicle physics get massively improved. Driving is kinda tough in CE but it gets much easier in the other games but be very careful not to bump into your marines in CE. Because of the vehicle physics you could easily badly damage if not kill one of them if you’re not careful. Was excited to see what you were gonna play next after you took down Makarov and I’m happy it’s a game that brought me many years of happiness.

Can't wait for this. I'd recommend up the music volume as its a key part of the experience as I'm sure youll come to find out. A key thing to remember is you journey begins 25 years into a war with an Alien alliance. All that I will say as that Humanity is losing. Have fun and good luck!

I still find it quite impressive that humanity lasted 27 years (2525-2552) in the war against such an advanced group of different species, we're just built differently 💪
cortana is an AI, she is the master chief's sidekick and long time friend, she slowly developed feelings for him over the halo series, in halo 4, master chief was never the same after this.

There are some actual stealth sections. Although it's pretty hard to go through them without getting spotted it is possible but the game never tells you where you can use stealth so you're probably gonna miss them on your first playthrough

Mad respect for sticking with the OG graphics for your first time experience, for the most part. Your enthusiasm is infectious. The OG graphics are much clearer for teaching new players the mechanics, and future games got more "immersive" in their graphics, losing visual clarity in the process. Luckily playing in release order you can learn stuff on the early games so the later ones with more complex graphics aren't so confusing.

Ahh so excited for this! Halo was the first shooter game series I ever played back in 2007 when I was a kid. It's so nostalgic and the world building is great. I'm not a huge scifi fan but Halo holds a special place in my heart. Hope you enjoy it!

57:25 This area is a good example of why the original graphics are better (in my opinion). The original is dark, gloomy and atmospheric, whereas the remastered graphics are way too bright and it really hurts the feel of the game.

I love the original graphics! The new graphics are lovely and sharp and shiny, but there's just something really cool about the older graphics. It feels like it suits the game and I'm really happy with that choice! I do want to try it with the updated graphics in the future, just to see what it's like!

Ok this is officially awesome! I freaking love Halo. I hope you play through all of them the story and universe is very intriguing. And hey maybe some of us can explain a little when you get confused or when some context is missing since there is a ton of story outside of the games in the books, movies, and short films along with the Halo 2 -Infinite trailers that have story. Also there are terminals. Make sure you watch the terminals after finishing the game because they contain very important lore but they can spoil some plot elements in the games they are in. Halo has such an amazing and expansive story so I hope you enjoy your play through. So with the enemies speaking English it’s actually lore that they learned English so they could steal human information easier as well as communicate and intimidate the humans. It’s not explained really ever so I thought that was a necessary thing to say here. Most of what you were wondering so far does get explained but not immediately so I won’t say much on it.
I'd definitely be up for some lore and background training 😅 I'm glad to hear that more gets explained as we go along as I sure do feel a bit lost so far. It's such a fun game! I'm having an awesome time ☺️

11:28 thats a elite, the equivelant of spartan of the covenant, in lore they are really good warriors and extremly good at mele (specially with energy swords) so they are a dangerous foe even with the minor ranks of the elites, the hunters are a more dangerous foe than elites but they are rare trought to the games on showing up rate than the rest of units and the weakest of the covenant troops are grunts, easy to kill but funny regarless with how much they scare of manster chief :P

@@xJuliettex no problem, i forgot to mention the jackals, the ones with shields, they mostly use plasma pistols that if you let them charge the shot for to long and shoot it to you it will instantly drain your shields to 0 and have to have it recharge again, on the next game you will have the jackal snipers wich in legendary on halo 2 are a nightmare

This was my first ever fps game that I played when I was like 11 or 12. Had so much fun with these games.
52:19 warthdogs and scorpions are sturdy (immune to be destroyed) vehicles so don't be afraid of going rambo/ramming speed with it as in ce you don't lose health/shields if you crash, of course you can die if you fall in a out of bounds area or get shot alot of times but other than that you safe in the warthdog altough in the next games all human vehicles can recieve damage and be destroyed like convenant vehicles

I had a huge smile on my face through your entire playthrough. Such good memories. I loved how the gunner alternated between excitement at your driving and then thinking that you were going to get him killed😆

It was good fun watching you play this. I haven't played it for years, so re-seeing the original through your eyes was unexpected and great. Playstation and Nintendo for me and particularly older games, but I did force myself to get an XBox for a few must-haves that weren't on the former consoles. I did play through quite a lot of Halo 2 but got fed up with too many driving sections; it's like trying to drive four fish fingers through a bowl of custard. This is a very good shooter but I'm more into RPGs and J-horror as narrative is my favourite. You've already seen the best part of the game with poster at the beginning mentioning Jonesy! ... But it is worth playing through, and it does get better and better, so I'll be following along. I did start watching your Red Dead shows but I still haven't finished the main story yet! Too much good fun collecting things, doing side missions and going for rides and walks, lol. Thank you. :D

The pistol is one of the most powerful weapon in Halo CE. And you can basically beat the game with it. Enjoy it. As it will not be the same in the later games to give you a heads up 😭

Oh dude I'm so excited for this! I've been playing Halo since I was 5, I'm 25 now and Halo is truly the best franchise story wise. Also great choice on starting the OG saga first. Having context for Reach is what makes that campaign so good. I hope you switch back and forth sometimes so you can see the differences however I prefer the OG graphics; I hope you really do like Halo, it's amazing.

Using the original graphics for CE was a good choice. The remastered graphics look decent but it's not really accurate to the original art direction. They learned their lesson from that and did an amazing job with the remastered graphics for Halo 2. In fact, I haven't played through Halo 2 in its original graphics in years because of how good the remastered graphics are.

You should watch Red VS Blue also. That series is what really got me into halo lore... And it's not about halo at all really lol so no spoilers. I love all 15 seasons although it started small and low production quality... It got much better by season 4.

Made it through most of the cod videos by now nearly all caught up. Halo isn't a game for me but the soundtrack is amazing through most of the games.

22:30 considering you have shields not be afraid to go head on more often, just keep a eye out on your shields so you aren't caught in the open when they break
Whoa! Im looking so forward for this one! halo is such a classic, I haven't played the story in a long but slayer is always a go to whenever I have buddies over. Looks like im not alone in it being the first shooter I've played.
Im glad you stuck with og graphics, Im sure some of its nostalgia but it really doesn't suit such a iconic game. it really spoiled the concrete brutalist architecture of the buildings scattered around halo. The towering pillars of seemingly endless concrete, that despite their age look completely pristine, the long quiet empty halls, it was all just perfect world building and atmosphere. but then the new graphics turned most of the concrete into these shiny detailed steel and metal plates that are just too cheesy sci-fi movie for my liking, not to mention the bad lighting when you get indoors. I swear every rooms fully lit yet you still cant make out the enemies from the floors and walls.

1:23:34 in the lore, this chapter master chief had a squad of odst's accompany him trough this chapter (you will see them at the next games of the saga and play as one on the spin off)
And in higher difficultys beyond normal sgt jonhson dosen't appear after the evacustion of the landing pods and in the a cutscene that appears later on, its last apearance its in the lengendary difficulty extra scene at the last mission

Playing on Easy mode is not the true Combat Evolved experience. The story is fun and gameplay mechanics are still incredible for a twenty yr old game.
Play through on Heroic or Legendary mode for a real treat.

Don't hesitate to punch the ennemy near them! Shoot until their energy shield are down, then punch them to achieve them! Halo is at it's best when you play and feel as a a killing machine, aggressive and precise! Have fun! ^^

one of the best gaming stories and franchises ever made, and one of the best to speedrun and find glitches/easter eggs on as well.....also back in 2001 a LOT of gamers were used to pitch inversion on shooting games which were usually airplane/starship fighter games. It was truly a WAY different time in gaming! Ive also NEVER seen those banshees grounded like that in MANY playthroughs that you saw at 1:08:31!

43:25 those flying things are called Banshees. They are the Covenant “airplane”. And in this game, they are easy to eliminate with like one clip of the Assault Rifle or any weapon in general. 😊

36:12 if im not mistaken, grunts in the lore were interest on human culture, so they were the first to learn human languaje before the rest of the covenant at halo 2 (well at least the elites are the ones that talk in human languaje at halo 2)
