      @@mintyman1968 wow! This might be my favorite comment. I was so afraid to start the 2nd channel because I knew it would be a lot of work and it was just the initial start up I was worried about. I'm very meticulous so I need to make sure the pictures and posts, and name, and logo and everything is enough to make me happy so with that being the case I knew it would make for a big loss of sleep. But it was well worth every minute of it. The reason I say that is because of this comment right here! To see and hear someone interested in something I put so much effort into it makes it so worth it for me! I do it all on my own as far as the content. Of course I have some help with ideas and financials at times with close friends and family but I out all the leg work in most of the time. It's definitely not easy. Love that sound! Hope the Mack continues to work out for you. It’s a classic. In the 80’s I pulled chemical tankers behind an R Model E6 300/9 speed. Ran mostly Quebec and the Northeast. Lots of 2 lane, lots of hills. Traveled out into the boonies delivering to mines and paper mills. That Bulldog wasn’t fast or fancy (no radio, AC, or power steering), but it was tough, reliable, and pulled like a champ.

    I have hauled my share of rebar from that location on Venango Street. Just loved Kensington Ave in the morning. That R Model seems like a decent truck. Give it a little time and you will work the bugs out it. You may need to put some insulation inside the cab under the rubber floor covering. I have used some from Eastwood Company and it made a big difference plus reduced road noise. I liked driving the R Models and got spoiled when the boss bought a 2 year old Pinnacle on Air Ride . Truck looks great. The one I drove had a spring seat for the driver. But my first day, I had to sit in the jump seat. IT WAS SOLID! Good for stomach muscles! Your route brought back memories. Kensington ave, Castor ave, the constant construction on I-95, Nj turnpike (with some of the most Ignorant drivers in the USA, in the truck lanes) Was surprised to hear it came with AC! Mine had the wing vents and floor vents. My jake never sounded that good. As for the heat, I tried to keep rolling or stop in the shade. I finally got to move up to a Vision and Granite.(made for AC, but none worked. So no vent windows or floor vents, but air seat) and a stupid plastic bumper. I don’t miss Philly at all.
    I quit driving and got a job loading and unloading trucks. A driver came in with a loaded pallet at the very front of a 48’. I told him I didn’t think I could reach it, and if I did, it might fall. He told me to go ahead. It fell and hit his corner fender. Ten years later, I’m at a car show and off to the side are some R model Mack’s. I told my buddy, this one looks familiar. Someone tapped me on my shoulder and said, you’re the one who damaged my truck!

    Oh I've been waiting for this one. First truck I rode in was an 86 R .EM6 300 and 9 speed. My grandpa had 25 of em in the 90s. All of them were hot in the summer..really hot.
    Yours seems to run...well better then most. it's not just smoke and noise like some e-6s. It's snappy..and seems to pull well through the whole gear.
    As far as the ride...ours always had front end issues...especially running NYC and Perth Amboy etc ..they'd get tore up..but if your sure it's the cab...maybe too much air? Shocks Obviously...but for a long wheel base like yours has it should be better then most...maybe cab mounts? Haven't been around one in so long it's hard to remember if we had one like that.

    Man that Mack looks and sounds beautiful!! Great camera and sound work... and nice to see some old familiar turf; NJ TPKE, Frankford Ave.
    Good on you for scooping it up, and so clean... no doubt because of where you got it out in ND. Now I'm by no means a truck/Mack expert, but when it comes to managing heat coming off that engine into the cab maybe think about doing some of the same DIY low-buck tricks we apply to any performance engine to better manage heat bleed;
    - Turbo Blanket/Wrap
    - Wrapping manifolds, forward 3/4 end of the exhaust pipe
    - Can you fit an electric fan that kicks on when underhood temps reach a certain point
    If you're planning to get into cab structure and floor as you mentioned, think about applying heat shielding around and under the firewall and forward floor sections...???
    I mean setup is strictly business...🤔 it's a Mack, ...a day cab, set up for heavy haul, so that combination isn't going to be too kind to your backside, and looks like you got a decent driver seat... but maybe there is something out there on the truck aftermarket that can be applied to the rear suspension setup on the tractor to control trailer whip/dampen lateral motion??

    • @Only4Trucks
      @Only4Trucks  Год назад

      Thank you! I appreciate that! I couldn't agree with you more. I'm not quite sure on what options there are to reduce the whip from the trailer as far as the suspension goes. But surprisingly I found out what the issue was and will share that in the next couple videos. I will also be trying a dynamat style panel to tape on the floor like insulation.

Its a shame that Volvo took them over. My company has the MP series engines. They are a pain in the ass. Constant problems. They are getting better with the newer models. As a truck driver, I gotta say this is the first person I have ever seen shutting Jake switch off in between every gear downshifting. Gonna wear that switch out buddy. What the hell are you doing. Leave the switch on. When you hit the fuel pedal, to rev the Jake’s shut off

    Put a plunger switch on the shift lever to turn the dynatard on and off. The old two speed rear ends used an electric plunger switch. I have them on all my autocars for the jakes Even if you hook up your fuel and clutch pedal switches, it is still super convenient to have.

    On the intake manifold there is a switch that looks like a air governor with 3 lines running to it take them lines off lay them on the intake and watch it smoke when you shift it's called a puffer switch recycles the smoke so it won't smoke so much

Those 350s should have shitboff valves on the hoaes going to the heater core. I always shut mine off in warmer weather because without doing that it puts a ton of heat in the cab without the heater on.

    You keep forgetting your sunglasses LoL.
    God damn that Mack can haul. Can pick up speed very quickly. Watching you down shift and use the jack switch is as close as using a twin stick shifter. Putting your arm thru the steering and shift up or down. Great backing at the end their. 10/10
    One thing I'm happy about this mack, It have the original mack Engine.. and not those Volvo type engine. That is few thing that different Companies that make truck engine is the sound. Mack, Cat, Detroit, Cummins, Paccar, and many other type of engines. The sound you can tell apart from the rest.
    Hmm, might want to try to pair the voice on top of the video together to see how that goes. But its a work in progress I can see but keep it up.

The good old Mack are hard to come bye treat him good and he will run pas all the big boys. You might want to take the pump off and get it set up for what you want him too tu
